The Le Mans General Discussion Thread

West WX-10ST-01a, a DSR designed using CFD and apparently, the first DSR to dip under the 2 minute mark at Road Atlanta (and thats on a slightly damp and cold track). One thing I alredy don't like However: West Race Cars, the company that made that, has been purchased by Scott Tucker :grumpy:
OH its a crap car. Dont buy it. It'll give you massive eyebrows...

After reading further, there is one saving grace: That design predates the purchase (which was seven weeks ago, while the actual design goes all the way back to around May or June). I don't think the team is bad, I just hate how it came to exist and the very guy that did it.

PLEASE tell me you guys have seen this...

Wow, and to think I had already found the Patron cars to be very Visually pleasing. Very nice 👍

Yeah, awesome livery! Like Racecar said, the Patron livery was already awesome this one is right up there! The Vipers really need to come up with a better looking car for next season and the Lizards should bring back one of their Troy Lee designs liveries!

So basically all of the Lola teams have no choice but to go to someone else. I'm still sort of clinging to the Toyota Connection for Rebellion though.

Lola teams have already been recieving spares direct from suppliers and can order any spare with enough lead time. There is no shortage of tubs, a number of recent Lola's are also out there that aren't racing that can be used for spares.

Rebellion are 99% certain to run Lola's next season and don't bet against Lola returning in a new form.

I'm confused about the deltawing. It isn't technically any of the current categories of car in ALMS, is it? How will it be classified? Pinewood Derby Class? :sly:

Maybe its own class for next year? I think there should be a Deltawing series. Imagine 20 plus Deltawings on the track. that would be awesome!

That new ESM livery looks fantastic. Now the ALMS just needs to release their track schedule for next year..

Great news indeed! Oh God those are good news, they gave us a good scare! Good to see there will still be some diversity on the field!

Not so good news... I stil don't and won't like that silly thing, amazing what a series will do to get some attention. Now will Nissan keep paying Highcroft to slap some Nissan stickers on the thing?

Any reason why Jav? Just curious. Apparently Multimatic bought part of what remained of Lola, which is cool. Their head quarters are about 2 hours away from me.

Considering the series dies after next year tbh it might as well just go crazy.

^Hmm. I never though of that. Personally, I'm slightly looking foreward to it. I was sad to see the Delta wreck at Le Mans, so having it race in the championship (and Petit) is cool. The classification is the one thing I'm not sure about.

Other than personal oppinion not much else. Don't get me wrong, it broke my heart when I saw the crash and specially the human side as the driver was doing all he could to revive the thing.
But I just feel the concept ran its course and it should just stop there, it's obvious that the sanctioning body is doing it as a last resort to get people interested on the series. Yes I know it will be the last season of the ALMS, but it still is a business and they wan't to get as much money out of it as they can or at the very least break even. Hopefully it'll work out and they'll be able to sell it to ESPN as actuall TV package and not a "media package".

The only thing that I like about it is that if Nissan is writing the checks it may give Bryan an opportunity to get behind the wheel and the exposure he needs!

Congrats to the Starworks team. 👍

Must be getting closer.

From an email from Lime Rock.
Skip Barber, calling from Felix Baumgartner Ground Zero in Roswell, N.M., said, “We’re excited about this, it's pretty neat: Because Independence Day next year falls on a Thursday, we can make the ALMS ‘weekend’ July 4, 5 and 6. That will let us create an even bigger, busier event, with multiple support series – including at least one with significant name recognition.”

Barber also noted Grand-Am's championship finale weekend at the end of September will be reprised in 2013. "It was a huge success this year, no doubt. We're looking forward to hosting the title-deciders again, during a beautiful time of the year."

Support-series races for the Trans-Am, ALMS and Grand-Am championship finale weekends are to be announced at a later date.
