The Le Mans General Discussion Thread

Great win for Toyota, I am a die hard Audi fan but it is cool to see such a close finish after 6 hours and for the team to win at home is always awesome.

Yeah, totally! Very close. Audi have been the underdog before, and I can't believe they kept Toyota within spitting distance, despite their troubles! Good race, though heard practically nothing about P2, GTEPro, GTEAm...lol...

Woooo! What a race, just caught the end there as I was watching F1 die down, but was keeping up on it since I was at work a while back. Toyota got their home win :D

RACECAR
Other then the Front and Rear Downforce settings as well as Soft Tires, Pretty much stock (Out of fear I might screw it up). I actually managed to just edge it out just now:

Pole Time: 1'27.499

New Time: 1'27.469

Hmmm.... Interesting challenge, I'll try it out later though. But an impressive run, beaten a pro's time, congrats. 👍

And even though I missed the whole race :(, Congratulations to Toyota on defeating the the Audis :D:tup:!!!!! I knew they would dominate Fuji!! :D

Watch out Audi, you have a force to reckon with now.

Thanks. That was the most challenging to do as it seems like the Rear Downforce definately feels like it has more of an effect on handling then it did before, I had many times where I was close only to lose it in the last portion of the track (especially the final turn). I had to put together the perfect lap with as little wheelspin as possible.

Now try to beat 3:19.074 at Sarthe.

It's not possible without unrealistic top-speed settings actually.

Anyway, couldn't watch the Fuji race (start was at 4 am my time), hope I can watch some highlights soon.

I've tried this...so hard...I couldn't get it without a turbo

I could maybe with turbo. I don't like turbos on LMP and Group C cars because of the massive amount of wheel spin. I believe Sarrazin did a 3:18 in a qualifying session one year.

You missed a good one, the full race is usually uploaded to youtube. Not sure who the uploader is though.

Gonna try your challenge RaceCar!

We should do our own race! Take Pure's LMP1 Specs, GTPFIA GT Specs and ALMS LMP2 specs for a special 45-60 minute race!

I'm up for it.

I saw the Muscle Milk Honda, Falken Porsche(and drivers), and a couple drivers for the Corvette team yesterday.

Obviously only a few teams tested? I'm noticing a lot of the season regulars aren't there and only one European team. Assuming the ALMS website will have a live stream for the whole 10 hours next weekend right?

My guess is ESPN3 and motors. Last time they tried their own website I think it crashed almost immediately. But it would be nice to have open access to the race like WEC.

I recall reading that the test would cost somewhere between 8 and 14k USD. Many of the ELMS teams probably couldnt afford it, and I doubt Rebellion really feels that they need to test to keep up with the ALMS boys.

It seems the Viper was given a 20 kg weight break, and an adjustment of "+50" on the rear wing.

That price actually seems low for the class... I know for a fact that a race weekend on a RTR RSX Touring Car back in 2003 was 24K, that was arround 3-4.5 hrs of track time and a test on the Roar before the 24(Daytona) 4 years ago was 8K on a ST Cobalt so yeah, I'd say 8-14 shouldn't be anything out of the ordinary for the ALMS guys.

No prob, but yeah, the LMP/Group Cs can be a hassle with their massive wheelspin. But the use of throttle control and even using the decreasing speed to point the car into the right direction helps, especially on the tights and twisty corners.

It's kinda hard with the mid and high RPM turbos on these racing monsters, but with ease of using throttle control and keeping the car in check, does miracles on the track, definitely on the Nurburgring. ;)

But I'm gonna try some new challenges with those cars with the 2.08 update soon.

ALMS Petit Le Mans Preview

Nothing much, until I saw the "yellow Viper". And I had to rewind, and pause the video at 2:01. Beautiful car, and that yellow top makes it look even better.

I still think the Viper livery is boring.. Doesn't make it look "bad ass" enough. Nice to hear they're going to go for it, maybe now the Viper Vs Corvette battle can happen once again!

They need to remove the lame resonators so we can hear that V10 do its thing!
