There are no problems, only You to feel a weaker Force Feedback motion, by using a bigger Wheel diameter.

If You want to connect a selfmade Paddle Shifter, this is no problem too, but it isnt easy to connect the other DFP Push-Buttons to the new Wheel

Thanks

Got another question. Gonna search the net to find an answer.
The DFP wheel is attached to the center shaft by 4 screws. If I should replace the DFP wheel by another bigger wheel, shouldn't that be problem, is it possible that the 4 holes (screws) in the plastic center shaft, gets worn out after a while by applying forces to the steering wheel??
I saw on your homepage that you made yourself some adapters.

I searched this thread for centering spring but didn't find anything on it, and it's hard to read through 96 pages of posts.

anyways, anyone know how to make it so it's easier to turn using the DFP? I'm not talking about the 60% or 100% force feedback setting. I'm talking about just plain turning the wheel, it feels sooooo stiff, like the motor is restricting it from smooth motion. When i turn it i hear the internal motor just rrrrrrrr.... when it's off it still does that. I thought it would be like easier smooth motion, instead of a motor holding it so that even a slight turn revs the motor. I read on another forum about a "Centering Spring" and people disabling it. Is that for PC only? or can i do that for the ps2 and gt4 as well?

I'm not sure if this is how the wheel is suppossed to feel, but it does not feel like driving a car that has power steering, the movement when making minor turns just doesn't feel like a car's realism. Am I being too picky? cause no one else seems to be talking about the stiffness. And again, I'm pretty sure im not talking about force feedback, im talking about just turning the wheel. Force feedback is when hitting a bump or turning at a really fast speed it makes moving the wheel harder and harder, but that's not what i mean. I'm understand i may sound a little confusing right now, but im not sure how to explain it any better. Just how do you make it so that turning the wheel is smoother or lighter if you will or is it even possible.?

thanks guys

i can't seem to get the paddle shifters of the dfp to work with NFSU2 on the pc. and the LGS460 driver deosn't seem to be downloadable anymore, any ideas?

I don't understand what the "Driving force pro power assist" and "Active steering" do when you turn them on in GT4 at the options menu.

Can someone please answer me?

Assuming you are in the Steering Menu, highlight active steering (put the cursor over it), and there a scrolling bar (like on CNN and Fox News :dopey: ) will give you the scoop on what it is.

Yeah, if you want easier turning just enable "Power Assist" , it's the equivalent of power steering for the DFP.

Personally I like the strength needed to rotate the wheel when it's giving lots of resistance. Just use the "hand over hand" method to rotate the wheel, even under high strain it is still not too difficult to turn. And make sure your arms are slightly raised to reach the wheel, having the wheel too low seems to make it harder to turn (despite Logitech recommending holding the wheel with your arms level with the ground).

I've spent some time comparing the resistance of the DFP to the force on a real steering wheel ('92 Lancer with p/steering) and they are about the same. I think the fact you are playing a videogame in a relaxed manner gives the illusion that you need to try heaps hard to turn the wheel, when in reality that is how hard you need to turn a real power-steering assisted wheel.

Yep, I got an idea :)
Go to this website and just download the driver you need. At this moment, I am downloading the LGS460ENU driver from the wingman team homepage:

http://www.wingmanteam.com/
Still 7 % to go, so it is still possible to download it. Voilà, downloading complete!!

Enjoy 👍

Hey guys,

I have a major problem.

I have the stuck brake pedal problem but i went to EB and they claim its the game thats at fault, not the wheel. Am I correct in saying that they are either miss-informed or lying to me?

Cos its just not the case yeah?

You guys in USA got a full new wheel and you didnt even have to send the wheel back and i get this BS service  :grumpy:

I know the rubber grips give you a better grasp of the wheel, but after 12hrs (or so) of playing my hands get really sore from turning the wheel with the palm of my hand, blisters etc..- anyway, i was wondering if anyone know of some sort of mini steering wheel cover that'll make it more like, say, leather or something?

Try some racing gloves from a kart shop or just a pair from a garden centre. much cheaper but you will get comments if you use a helmet as well LOL! 👍 👍

i have heard that the problem will happen again even with a new wheel, which happened to me aswell, so i fixed it up myself, heres the instructions i followed from a legend called  Arwin  and i have not had a single problem since and it only took 5 minutes and it is pretty safe to do:

A good few DF Pro users come across a common problem where the wheel starts braking slightly or the gas loses full-throttle. It happened to me after about four months, and after people who aren't as gentle as I tested the wheel :argh :lol Fortunately, despite my lack of technical insight, I managed to fix it myself. Here's what you do:

Open the base by taking the nine screws out that are nearest to the pedals. Follow the wires to their white connection plugs, and make sure that under them the little black balls hang into their holders. Pull a little more wire into the base, as this will prevent the problem from occuring again. Then put everything back together.

It's as simple as that, but the tricky part is to get everything back together properly. The pedals and their springs fall out easily. It's not too hard to put them back together - just have to pay good attention to where the springs should go and be careful everything is in the right place while putting the lid back on the base - but you may need a few attempts. I had some trouble with this the first few tries.

After I did this, the problem didn't return, and a few others have solved this problem the same way since. It's a shame it happens, but it's easily fixed and as a bonus I'm happy to see most parts in the wheel are easily replaced.

If someone happens to try this and have a digicam handy, please make some closeup shots for others, as it seems a very common problem that happens to most people sooner or later.

haha, yeah, i've seen some pictures on the "cheap cockpit alternative" threads... don't want to name names or nothing, but helmet+dual shock=some serious comedy!

after wrapping the entire wheel in glad plastic wrap, and contemplating covering the wheel in vaseline, i think i will go with gloves... incidentally i'm heading to the garden center anyway (home depot) because saw horses (genuine burro brand is what i got) with the legs cut off about half way (using an old rocker that sits on ground) make great mounts for the dfp - i'm going there to get a second one for dual dfp battling. needs a little weight or added support, but it sure cut down a lot on construction time. but i digress...

Hey all , i just got my dfp, and knowing my luck , i am having probs getting it going.

The green light on the left just keeps flashing.... I can use the d-pad and buttons... but the wheel does nothing, as well as the pedals.

Anyone experienced the same probs...im sure i am missing something simple.

Thanx

I've found that, in order to get the PS2 to recognise the DFP, you have to start it up in this order (which is not as per the instructions that come with the DFP)

1. Plug everything in, EXCEPT the DFP > PS2 usb lead.
2. Turn on PS2 and load to the GT4 home screen.
3. Plug in the USB lead.

Now the wheel should turn lock to lock, calibrating itself and be ready to use.

why do you have to do this? i keep my DFP power on an connected to the PS2 and it calibrates when GT4 starts up, sorry if i dont know whats goin on i didnt read any of the before posts haha

Are you plugging in to the top or bottom usb port? Make sure you are in the top one.

I have a slimline , so it would be the left usb port.... even tried both.

Just sits there and does nothing...... Left yellow light just flashes.

The only way it does that is if the power adapter is not plugged in, or uve got a faulty wheel

I have been having the problem with my brake pedal dragging. I did the fix listed here and it seems to have fixed it! 👍 👍 👍 Thanks. Someone should make this fix a sticky.
