Have not had any problems with my wheel so far ... but only use paddles for the WRS and so on ... cannot steer perfectly with one hand on the wheel. I think I have one of the latest DFP's as I only bought it when GT4 came to South Africa, and that's about 2 months ago ... no loose brake pedal etc. that people have been complaining about ... and this is after being 20% in the game and all the races of the WRS

Okay, fair enough, but I was referring to the fact that Logitech explicitly state that the two are not interchangeable. Doesn't matter though.

As for that site, I can only find the 4.50 drivers. Are they the latest?

they are in the beta section. They are made specificly for the DFP? 👍

well.. there was a whole discussion on it in the FOrza thread...

Its not as good of a wheel as the DFP, but its probably the best one made for the xbox. It locks at less than 300° and doesnt even have force feedback because of the limitations of the XBOX SDK. It just has shock feedback. the wheel just spazzes out from time to time and shakes. :dopey:

I got my DFP wheel yesterday!

First thing I did was the european classics with the Ginetta G4. First race is a lap around the Nürburgring, and it was hard! maaany bumps on that track and the Ginetta was allover the place :scared:
Didn't pass the leading car until the last long straight (Antoniusbuche)

I guess it takes a bit of practice to get use to it, but it has made the game a bit more fun! 👍

Hi guys.
I was wondering how solid is this DFP?

I have a 2 year old naphew and he likes cars a lot, he will be a legend in motorsports maybe :D , but he hasn't mastered the Dual Shock 2. Every time he comes to visit, (twice a week) he's looking for the PS2 and asks me to let him play. When I'm playing GT4 he watches and cheers me. I would like to buy the DFP for me but with him in mind. Do you guys think the DFP will be able to handle a 2 year old?

GT4: $50
DFP: $100

I got out a really old steering wheel of mine earlier, I'm pretty sure that I bought it when the ps1 was still the top console around, I can tell you that there is no intermediate stages on the pedals, it's either full acceleration or no acceleration, so I'm guessing it must be like dual shock 1, kind of thing. Also I was having real trouble using the steering, it was going from nothing to just flying around, so I had a look and measured that there is 40 degrees of rotation each way, where turning the wheel that 40 degrees has absolutely no effect, the G-force steering display thingy doesnt move for those 40 degrees either way, maybe its slightly broken from a long time no use, but I think I'm going to use it as an excuse, along with the fact my only nicely shaped ds2 controller is starting to play up occasionally, to get a DFP.

I was just wondering, does the DFP have such a "zone" where moving the wheel does not actually put any steering input in, maybe it might have a much smaller one or not at all? If there is a zone does it increase when using 900 degree mode over 200 degree mode? If it does I think that would really put me off buying it, especially seeing as its so expensive. Also are the pedals like if I brake half the way down, the brakes will actually be applied half, not full?

Also I heard it was pretty hard to get hold of in the UK, had a ring around my local stores today and none had it in stock.... so if anyone in the UK knows any UK based internet/mail order firms, or any stores in Birmingham area that has them in stock please PM me... cheers.

You can get the wheel from www.gameseek.co.uk this is a very reliable source that i got mine from and delivery can come as quickly as 3 days! 👍 Sorry if this has been posted already, i havent read the rest of the threads since this post.

get him into karts

Well a sticker right on the DFP has a picture of a child near the DFP and a big RED circle with a cross through it is shown. So I guess they reccomend not to.

The only bit a two year old could possibly break is the gearstick. I know they're not particularly strong at that age, but they manage to push/hit/pry with amazing destructive force. :P

Finally after 2 months after ordering the DFP, i've got it today and it is awesome  , first thing i did, went to the ring with my RS4 and it´s so cool 👍

I'm wondering if your twoyearold could withstand the wheel. :indiff: I havent played much gt4 lately.. but for pc games you can crank up the force feedback pretty damn high. I cant imagine any injuries other than a bruised finger from the wheel spinning faster than he expected... but I dunno..

Thank you guys for the support, but my question remains unanswered. Could the DFP endure a 2 year old?

You've got it round the wrong way......what you should ask yourself is, could a 2 yr old endure a DFP?
I have 2 different friends who both have 2-3 yr old kids and they aren't allowed to play with the DFP with FF on......just think about it, a kid puts his/her arm through the wheel during a game and the wheel snaps around....there is a genuine risk of injury.

Thanks for the advice guys, I didn't thought of that.
Can I turn force feedback off?

For some games you can turn force feedback off, or just unplug the power source. For the PC, you can turn the force feedback really low. 👍

Hi, I'm wondering if someone could give me some advice on how to apply some lubrication to the DFP wheel so it turns smoother and is less noisy? My wheel is less than a month old and already it is extremely loud and noisy when turning it fast. It has definitely deteriorated over the last couple of weeks. The motion is still smooth enough and precise but I can feel cogs rattling as it turns quickly :(

Any advice on how to put the wheel back together, and what type of grease to use (I used Vaseline for the pedals) would be great. If you have any pics of the inside of the unit so I know what to expect, it would be helpful.

Hey Gabkicks, I noticed in your sig you mention Richard Burns Rally and its 540 degree mode. I wasn't even aware of any other ps2 games that could use more than 200 degrees, so upon reading your sig I got Richard Burns Rally and it's awesome! Thanks for the tip! Also, do you use 540 degrees or did you mean 450? I can't decide what to use...450 is a bit quicker but 540 seems more realistic (is that what most WRC cars use?)

I don't even notice the noise of the wheel when I'm driving
This is certainly true under normal circumstances.
However, I wake up very early most days, and on those days that I decide to run a few races with the volume turned down (so as not to wake the family), the noise from the wheel is VERY loud....loud enough to wake the family in fact.

You know on the virtual racer X model the pedals are aluminium peldals that were changed in the brand of ractive. Does anyone know how to modify the pedal on the LFP. Because im on happy on those plastic pedals.

Does anyone else find that driving in 300 degree mode in GT4 the cars become undrivable in a straight line at speed. I love the 900d egree mode but when you spin it takes an age to get back going again if you end up the wrong way but the ffb in 300 degree mode is overkill, the wheel goes all over the place.

While paused in a race or on any menu screen press and hold Select + R3 + R1 (the right tiny paddle behind the wheel) and the green light on the right side on the wheel will go out indicating your now in 300 degree mode.
