New Machine Head song

Some good heavy stuff:

Honestly, I can't stand this "Djent" crap. Just a bunch of guys having a pissing contest to see who can sound the most like Meshuggah without actually ripping them off. Periphery's vocalist is one of the worst I've heard, too.

Anyway, here's a new song from Krisiun, from the new album coming out November 1st. It was apparently recorded 100% in analogue, and you can really tell the difference. Looks like Vader's going to have some competition for Death Metal album of the year.

"KRISIUN only used analog gear and instruments this time to avoid the compressed sound that so many musicians produce today. This wise decision resulted in a more organic sound, with the songs on "The Great Execution" possessing both warmth and rawness, which are so often lost through digital production. The low end is deeper, with drums that pound instead of bounce and guitar tones that sear rather than hiss".

Metallica
Megadeth (DAVEEEEEEEEE)
Children of Bodom
In Flames
Shadows Fall
Ozzy
Black Sabbath
Iron Maiden
Machinehead

Trust me, I can go ON AND ON if I wanted to

Ah, new Krisiun album? Sweet. Hopefully they are more melodic this time around. They are such a great band but they get kind of grinding when their whole album is just smashing your face in. I keep them for cardio workout music and that's about it lol.

Ah, Machine Head. Following the latest trend since 1992.

I'll never be able to get over Rob Flynn's vocals. Completely ruins any chance they have of being decent.

The only time they were apart of any trend was when Ahrue Luster of Ill Niño was there. But out side of that they aren't following any 'trend'. But just because it isn't apart of the extreme metal scene doesn't mean it completely blows.

As for the new MH album, its boring. Doesn't have the same energy as Burn my Eyes or The Blackening.

Iron Maiden anybody? Those guys are fantastic. And not only their big 80's hits that everyone knows like Number of the Beast-their best stuff are the unknown songs

Amen to this! Have you heard Doctor Doctor or Reach Out? Both epic songs that not a lot of people are familiar with. 👍

The only metal bands I really enjoy are Disturbed and Avenged Sevenfold. I may like a few other individual songs by other bands but not as much as those two. I'm a big Disturbed fan though.

Never really got into Disturbed that much, however I do like a bit of Avenged Sevenfold from time-to-time.

Dunno if you guys consider A7x "real" metal or not (The OP doesn't, for example), but their fairly recent release "Not Ready To Die" is quite good, and calls back to their older roots.

Depends on you definition of Metal. I consider them as being a Metal band, even closer to the definition of Metal than some of the bands listed in this thread.

As for my latest addictions:

New Trivium album, In Waves, although not as good as Shogun, it has some pretty decent songs and it started to grow on me. Some highlights:

Stright Line Stich latest album, The Fight of our Lives, not as heavy and raw as When Skies Wash Ashore, but more refined and mature.

I don't know how many of you are Nightwish fans, but Imaginaerum is out soon. After 4 years, Tuomas has blessed the world with another masterpiece.

They released a preview of Storytime, and it sounds insane. I really can't wait.

That's funny. I just glanced at my Nightwish station on Pandora and was wondering if they put out any new albums since the YTMND days.

Saw Trivium on the 6th of August when they supported Maiden, didn't think much of them.

Found this sweet Chilean band:

Also, new Steel Panther album is out.

As for metal music, I have three favourite bands:

- Metallica: I used to be a huge Metallica fan. Everything up to including the "Black Album" was great, everything since "Load" has just been disappointing to me ...
- Type O Negative: I think the best and best-known album is "Bloody Kisses" for sure but the older (hardcore) stuff from "Slow, Deep And Hard"/"The Origin Of The Feces" is also great (especially the lyrics). Unfortunately, Peter Steele died last year ...
- Ministry:My favourite albums: "The Mind Is A Terrible Thing To Taste" and "Psalm 69". (I think this genre is called Industrial Metal ?) Too bad Ministry also doesn't exist anymore ...

Have any of you heard of Warchest? I was looking for some more Chilean bands and found these guys... they are SO HEAVY! AWESOME!

and some Seventh Avenue. Really awesome Christian metal:

and some Animetal USA:

(You can't beat the original orchestral arrangement though.)

Morbid Angel, Sepultura, Cannibal Corpse, Deathstars, Carcass, Haemorrhage (spanish grindcore band) to name a few. Though I like some of the newer bands as well, like there's a real good russian metalcore band called [AMATORY], you can check them out on Youtube.

Anyone hear that new Krisiun album? It sounds exactly the same as their past 3 albums. It's like the death metal version of Nickelback, except they're not posers. Every song is exactly the same, except with different bridges.

edit: Lol, the more I get into this album, the more it occurs to me that I could probably make a brand new Krisiun album if I just had access to the recordings of the parts of the past 3 or 4. It just sounds like they chopped up a bunch of different things and put it together in a different way.
