The Metal ThreadMusic

Mustaine actually posted that on his FB page. He was asking what song he wrote for Metallica that he should play at some concert or something.

Metal is simply amazing. Every kind of it. Anyone see the Golden God Awards? The Dillinger Escape Plan, Halestorm, Metallica, and Danzig put on a helluva show. Loved Black Veil Bride's little speech, too.

Very, very old photo of very very early Metallica. McGovney, Mustaine, Ulrich and Hetfield.

It's not Hetfield kicked away Mustaine from Metallica. It was Dave who kicked Metallica out of his band.

The new Amon Amarth is out worldwide now, thoughts? From what I have heard so far I'm very impressed, I expected greatness and greatness I got!

I´m listening the new Megadeth album.

How good is it? I've been itching to hear it. Same with Black Sabbaths new one. I head God Is Dead on the radio, it sounded epic.

It's pretty good hey? Not as thrashy as I'd like it to be, but it has it's strong points. Dance In The Rain is really good, as is the cover of Thin Lizzy's "Cold Sweat". 👍

See above. I think I'll buy it sometime (When I'm not poor haha). Thew new BS I haven't heard much of though. God Is Dead does get pretty good airplay over here as well... which I'm happy about. :sly:

Not very nice IMO. Peace Sells... and Rust In Peace are still the best. I think even TH1RT3EN was better.
But most songs are still good to listen. Especially Dance In The Rain.

I had this thought this morning. Like, "Hey, I wonder if that new Amon Amarth is out yet." Sure enough, it came out yesterday. Guess my Metal sense was tingling.

It's awesome so far, but the title track is also the worst part of the album so far. "Deceiver" just totally falls flat for me. Dunno why.

All the songs are a lot more motif-oriented or anthemic on this album. It's not at all like With Oden, which I think is their best album. I think it's the lead guitar. Johan is playing some really boring stuff. Solos are not layered, the guitars don't really do a lot of "singing". The rhythm, bass, and drums are incredible.

I think they just wanted to do something that'd be really easy to play at a live show. They could rip it and do so many cool things with this album live. I'd go to a show expecting Johan to turn it up. Almost seems like they need one more lead guitar to give this album what it really needs.

edit: OMG this album gets SO BRUTAL as it goes along. Blood Eagle and We Shall Destroy are incredible.

Blood Eagle: a method of torture and execution from Nordic legend. The victim is stabbed in the back on both sides of the spine. The ribs are broken, pried open, and the lungs are pulled out of each wound to form "wings".

Holy crap that's brutal.

I'm going to see a home grown blast from the past band on Saturday... Annihilator is going to play here in a small setting nearby. I'm out of touch with this band, but I do have good memories of live shows in the past. Anyone else here on GTP fans of them? If not, check them out...

Have a good one

Haven't listened to Annhilator in a while but I always remember them being good.

Tis is a pretty awesome cover of The Longest Day and The Legacy by Iron Maiden, and it's kids doing it!!!

I did a quick search and didn't find anything. But have you guys seen the YouTube Meets Metal guy?! Dude's good, I've been following him for a while. Check out some of his songs.

I voted Adrian Smith simply because I'm a huge Iron Maiden fan. Was tough though as I adore Rhoads.

Yeah, one of the other options was Toni Iommi vs Synyster Gates. Voted for Iommi, but was surprised to see Gates winning by quite a bit, ah well, I guess it's all subjective anyways. But overall, I want Petrucci to win, big fan of him I must say, and Dream Theater. On the note of Dream Theater, very excited for their new album, looks to be turning out quite good (at least the song titles are creative, hehehehe).

For some strange reason I can't comprehend, I find myself getting into Lamb of God a lot in the last few days.

Dream Theater released a song from their upcoming album yesterday, here it is.

The Enemy Inside

I liked it, but I'm not the biggest fan of the lyrics or the way LaBrie sings in this song, but I did love the quirky stuff Rudess does.

Holy crap, Dave's holding a guitar with only 22 frets!? I never thought I'd see the day.
And check this out: LoudWire is now having a vote for the 10 Best Metal Mascots.
http://loudwire.com/10-best-metal-mascots/
Go ahead, cast your vote, and let your voice be heard!

I know, I'm subscribed to a Facebook page that posts all sorts of very early Metallica material.

Also I voted for Eddie. My favorite band and he is tattooed on my left arm. And Eddie is smashing the competition hard haha

Awesome performance. That was epic. Also glad to see they finally did it.

EDIT:

Metallica is back. Lars and a white Tama kit. James has his 1983 voice back...and plays on a white V. Look at the background.....WAT

And this is all over...not just one performance.

Are you guys familiar with "Fallujah"?
If not, and you're a fan of Prog/Tech Death Metal, give it a listen :)
They used to do Deathcore, but they've evolve I guess. You may find one or two parralels to their "past", but I overall enjoyed this album and it was actually my favorite album of 2011
