Aha I see you fall into that category of I only know these songs haha. I totally understand where your coming from though. I'd listen to some stuff off A Matter of Life and Death, it has a lot of "slower" Maiden. Theres quite a few songs by them but then again as a fanboy I pretty much like everything the wrote and I'd never give you one good song, if asked I'd probably give you their discography lol

For me when I listen to older Heavy Metal its all about the riff... I'm not a huge fan of Bruces vocal delivery (not that its not good, just not my style). Always been a fan of those riffs, and like I said there were a few others I just can't remember so I have to go through my HDD.

Anyways, I'm hoping I can get out and see these guys on the 8th. Another awesome Bay Area Doom Metal band (I feel so spoiled sometime :P ). They are also releasing a new CD soon (April 26th) so hoping to hear some new content.

Totally understand where your coming from. For me if the vocals don't mix with an awesome riff I turn it off. Sometimes songs grow on me though.

^ Have never heard of them.

I purchased these two CD's yesterday, they where Two for $25 at HMV, so of course I had to buy them. This is literally the first time I've seen them sell the King at my HMV.

It's cool how "Them" tells a story throughout the album (+Has two bonus tracks.) and, Rising Force. It's Yngwie so of course it's good. Icarus Dream Suite Op.4 is so bloody epic. :)

Hmm. Don't think I've heard that album by the great King. Abigail was good though.

It's the one after. Released in 1988. I'd recommend it if you like any Mercyful Fate/King Diamond.

This might just be my favorite song off the album? Hard to say.

I'm scared to listen to good artists. Because then I want it. And my MP3 player has no space left on it. No I'm not buying another one lol

Ha, tell me about it. There's so many CD's I want still! I must resist... else I won't have any $$ for insurance or gas. & Lord knows those are both expensive as hell.

Great cover by one of my favorite power metal bands. :)

Original material;

@Aton, I have the album Battering Ram by Iron Savior, I can't honestly say the last time I listened to them as I don't listen to much Power Metal.

@Slash, Your limiting your music library to the size of your Mp3 player? I think I would die if I were to limit myself to only 32GB. >.<

I to am collector of physical CDs and worship the entire package. I love everything from the art to the linear notes. Most of my recent purchases have been underground stuff from Bandcamp and holy a handful of them were physical CDs. I do plan on spending $50 on a new order of CDs from Amazon which should be good for anywhere from 6-10 CDs.

Currently working through the Slipknot albums on Youtube, next time I go to town I'm buying Subliminal Verses and All Hope Is Lost for sure! :D

@Prosthetic

I was limiting it to 16GB but then that one broke and my only backup was available to 12GB....so annoying. I still have it all on my computer anyways but if I get something when the one I have now goes, I'm going large. Large as in 64GB +. My current HDD on my PC has probably 260GB of just music alone and I'm not even close to getting everything I want and like. I have a rather large collection mostly because I used to run a Shoutcast radio station a few years ago. Not going to keep dealing with having a restrictive MP3 player anymore though., Like I said when this one goes I'll upgrade but I hope that doesn't happen for a while. Especially after the experince with my last one. I had a Sansa Fuze and replaced it I want to say at least 4 times. It's not that the player was a bad player, in fact I loved the piss out of it and would probably buy another, it just kept having hardware failures like headphone jacks being loose, wheel not responding etc. I currently have a Sansa Clip + 2GB with a 8GB card in it (will go up to a 32gb card if I let it). I bought it for $40 off my sister and then it started having issues (was exposed to water) so then I got the other one she had and haven't had an issue since. I especially love the Sansa players becuase using a custom EQ you can boost the max volume by almost 65%. Beleive me, I've blown many many many earbuds doing that lol. Only one pair I had that the wire went before the speaker did beause the damn speakers wouldn't blow no matter how hard I tried, that inlcuded amplifying the audio itself through Audacity. Still wouldn't go. Shame though, because I have no idea what brand earbuds they were so I cannot replace them and got stuck with some cruddy ones.

Anyways, I spent the day in Auto Tech blasting Judas Priest's Painkiller album in full off a double set of PC speakers since our amp and system that we had set up in the shop rafters last year got taken out (yet they leave the speakers), as well as the cassette version of Iron Maiden's Live After Death, with the re-released bonus tracks like Sanctuary etc. Seeing as a few of the guys in the class play in bands including myself that cover songs off that album, they thoroughly enjoyed it. Even caught a few belting Aces High clear across the shop and some walking over to me saying I knew I heard "the Trooper" lol.

Reminds me of the last time we had a BBQ cookout in the shop, we brought in our guitars and performed Aces High (amongst other songs as well) in an acoustic version in front the of the class. Mind you I had never played with that kid before in my life either when we played it. The songs were just the normal electric versions played on acoustics so I really had to strum hard to play the solos so it was audible (some had to be improvised due to the guitars not having enough frets and not having cutaways), while the other 2 players I was performing with did rythym for the most part besides a few trade offs that we discussed about doing before we started because one of the guys didn't feel comfortable playing certain sections of songs like solos and stuff. None of us had great voices however so we let the guitar work do the talking and left the vocals out.

Unfortunatley no one recorded it or I'd share the "show" with you all =P It was rather well performed though, I think there was a combo of Hallowed Be Thy Name and The Trooper tossed in there in a kind of a medley thing with a hint of Powerslave and then Afraid to Shoot Strangers and Aces High in their entirety. We did the beginning of The Number of the Beast and after the solos we merged it into The Prisoner. Hallowed Be Thy Name was later performed in complete as well, to which we played the backing track from Live After Death to jam along with while the rest of the songs we did were total acoustics. The teacher straight up said it me as I was playing "wow that sounds just like it" as the class watched. I couldn't help but smile with myself =P Was awesome performing in front of a small crowd again, I haven't had the opportunity in a while now.

I do think though, I have a short "concert" that was recorded in in 2008ish that I'll have to find of us just screwing around and me on bass when I was obviously much much younger. Had a crowd there watching us just fool around. I beleive my uncle in Florida has the camera so I don't know if it's been taped over but I know most of it was original material of just odd riffs and beats mixed together and maybe a few crummy covers of Rock You Like a Hurricane by Scorpions and Learn to Fly by Foo Fighters, and if I'm lucky, one of my first performances of the Trooper. That might have been in 2007 though so I'm not sure. I think it was. If I can get over to my grandfathers I'll did up some old images in 2007 of us on stage with a totally differnet lineup that I have now with me playing a blue and black Strat =P

Whoa totally longer post than I expected.

Got Zuul's newish album.

Out Of Time was better, but this one still rocks.

Cool new bands I've discovered: Earthless, Freedom Hawk, Truckfighters.

All three bands are awesome.

Earthless was in SF this week but I missed it.. Truckfighters are classic Stoner Rock and are in the middle of a massive Swedish movement that's been going on since the early 2000's/late 90's.

Freedom Hawk are like the East Coast version of Fu Manchu.

If you like Earthless style jams check out Tia Carrera...

I've posted this video on GTP a few times before but its so awesome.

I mostly listen to thrash and speed metal, with a little melodic death metal thrown in. My favourite bands are probably Megadeth, Metallica, Slayer, Pantera, Children Of Bodom, and Iron Maiden.

Going to see Clutch and Orange Goblin tomorrow night...

May go see Castle on the 27th...

And will be going to see the Metal Alliance Tour on the 28th!!
Anthrax, Exodus, High on Fire, Municipal Waste, HOLY GRAIL...

****ing pumped.

I know Anthrax, Exodus and MW, not the other two, but sounds like it's gonna be a sick show. 👍 Lucky!

This is pretty cool, everyone's familiar with Exumer's "Possessed By Fire" album, more specifically the track "Fallen Saint", right?

Well, they're still around, and did a re-recording of "Fallen Saint"!

Original '86 version will always be the best though, IMO.

Because everybody here knows Metallica :P I'll post something of my 2nd favourite band

^LOVING that main riff...

^Chorus is epic

Testament never made it to the same level the others did. Neither did Exodus for that matter.
