Anyone like the new stuff from NIN or Trapt?

The new NIN stuff is a big dissapointment for me... They've lost the energy they once had... As for Trapt... Well, I've always disliked them... Just not my style... Too hokey...

;)

VIPFREAK
Yeah, I was a bit dissappointed but then again SOAD's stuff was even more of a dissappointment. :grumpy:

I would agree with that... I loved Steal this album, as well as Toxicity, and their first album... I'm not digging their new sound...

Audioslave's newest album is a big dissapointment as well, IMHO...

I hope Tool can break this horrible cycle of crappy new releases...

;)

:shudder: eh... all Audioslave stuff got old REAL quick like Soundgarden's stuff.

The older Soungarden stuff was groundbreaking... Of course, as time went on, the band went down hill (can anyone say Metalica?)... The first Audioslave album wasn't groundbreaking, or that good really, but it was much better than their latest effort...

;)

Not a Metallica fan Delphic Reason? Or are you like everybody else (myself included) who likes everything up to and including The Black Album, before they turned "hard-rockish"?

Speaking of bands going downhill KoRn's old stuff is good but there new stuff was real ****ty... As for Metalica, they never really caught on for me I guess. I liked a few song here and there but that was about it.

Ugh... that's a big list. Well, I just went though all 49 pgs. and I'll be hangin around here a LOT more. :D

BTW, listening to... Children Of Bodom - In Your Face

VR and Guns and Roses are metal. *IN MY OPINION* And why try and classify it all when everyone has a different opinion. There are bands I would classify different ways. Like:

Jet is Rock
Blink-182 Is Punk
Metallica is metal

and so on. I know a lot of people will disagree with me, so classifying music is pointless.

PublicSecrecy
Someone said RATM is alternative...I'm pretty sure Blink 182 is alternative. . . And RATM is pretty far from B182.

FatAssBR
I think that Blink-182 is punk-rock, such as Green Day, Yellowcard, Autopilot Off....these kind of music.

To me the main differences are that Metal is faster, has more elaborated riffs, and well, it´s heavier. :P But there are so many Metal genres out there, and every day someone creates a new one, I just can´t keep track of them. So it´s easyer for me to say that I like everything that has loud overdriven guitars. :)

Man you guys are hilarious... Blink 182 is EMO hell the name screems it.

Although this is not the place for discussion on the topic, Blink 182 are Pop-Punk. The music screams it ... like a little girl. Emo is lyrically orientated about heart-ache and relationships, in most instances. The music is different from Punk, however, and more melodic. Blink 182 employs the use of a similarly-styled structure and sound from 70's punk, yet modernised. Lyrically, it's quite different, also.

Anyway, apologies for the off-topic post.

That's if Tool ever get around to releasing the damn album... When was it supposed to initially be released? Around Christmas '04 wasn't it?

While I know it wouldn't be proper if I didn't BLAIR Metal but I'm getting a little concerned about my hearing going REALLY FAST if I keep up this "habit". Any suggestions other than the obvious of turning it down cuz... that ain't gonna happen?

Anyone hear anything good lately? I havn't heard much new stuff lately except Arch Enemy's new CD and that's pretty much it.

Everything up to the black album rocked... Then they went progressively down hill...

Some might hate me for this, but what the hell...

I really liked the first 2 albums from Korn... It was a completely new sound, dark, gritty, heavy, and full of energy... However, after those albums, the band members sat down and had a meeting, and decided to suck from then on...

I hear that... You know how Tool is... They spend 4 or 5 years perfecting the songs, then record them all in 2 days... Of course, that 2 days usually takes place 6 months to a year after their orignal release date...

Of course, they are as secretive as ever about the release date (Still no release date).. Although, they have said it will be around Christmas time...

Some Korn songs like Blind and Shoots And Ladders are hard not to like. That new song on the radio is just horrible

i liked the first korn album and untouchables but the rest were to rap.

as to metallica, i like their stuff up untill after 1988. i dont like the black album and the newer songs are good, but in a non-metallica way. imo the newer stuff would be great if it was by a different band but its just not up to metallica standards.

I think it's the whole Nu Metal scene that's made Korn look a lot worse in mine, and a lot of other people's eyes. I can't get into it. The sound of the music does not attract or interest me in any way.

I know the feeling, man. I haven't heard Arch Enemy's new CD. Any good? Angela Gossow would have to be the only female metal vocalist I can stand. :P

I can't really say I've heard much in the way of new lately, though The Berzerker's new album is really good.

Well, I havn't listened to it a ton but its ok. Hasn't exactly caught my ear yet though, except for the first song which has a nice harmonic riff that I like. Another song on the album has been played on headbangers ball, and it has a great solo. The female vocals really dont sound a ton different than most stuff but I imagine its because of this (taken from a review of the CD at http://www.metal-archives.com/) "Sadly, (or maybe not so), it is impossible to truly know what female death growls sound like on this album, as Angela's vocals have computer effects added to them."

I've gotta get some Arch Enemy. I kinda like female vocalists in metal bands.

I've been listening to Lacuna Coil and I like the album "Comalies" quite a bit. I've also got some Queen Adreena but I don't care for it much...

Damn.

Just a pointer, though. Don't listen to a lot of the tripe that comes from Metal Archives. I use it as a source for a lot of metal, but a lot of the members are very elitist, and they all get stuck in trends of denouncing certain genres or bands, instead of listening to things for what they're worth.

Still, computerised vocals are disappointing.

I think Otep has a better groul... Although I do like Arch Enemy... Haven't heard the new album yet..

i just heard a kick ass local band on the radio called invocation. all i have to say is... damn! they never play anything that hard on the radio...

http://www.invocationband.com/home/

aparently they do a lot of covers but they played some original stuff on the radio and it was damn good for being local.

just thought i'd share.

I'll give a Shout out to my friend's band Hybrid Soul they arn't that big yet... but I've gone to their shows and it's pretty cool. :)

They don't sound like they've altered her voice. They probably just lowered the pitch to give it a deeper tone or something.

That's what I was thinking as well. It doesn't really sound distorted but the pitch is extraordinarily low for a girls voice.
