Hmm, I could've sworn there was a christian metal band by the same name. Oh, and "Metal" is a musical style, not a way of life. Although for some, that is true.
give Black Label Society a try. Try older Pantera as well. Their new stuff is amazing, but it's thrash metal. Their older stuff is borderline hair metal.Saleen ManAnyone recommend some metal bands that aren't dark/gothic/death metal? 'Tis time to expand the horizons, but not that far.
Edit - Opeth is out. I thought they were progressive metal, but it seems they're more death than anything.
KaffeinE 86Dragonforce
Extol
Haste (They're good, but their label cut them... 0-_-0
In Flames (pre-Sountrack to your Escape = roxxor)
Metallica
Nevermore
Nightwish
Opeth
No, metal was just the definition for rock that was too heavy to fit the standard molds. It just so happened that some of the bands that started off in metal had a dark side.Bones Brigadeyou think christian metal is hypocrtical? because metal was created to worship satan? right.
As code_kev said, Aspera Hiems Symfonia is great, but I seriously recommend you La Masquerade Infernale. It's fantastic.Race IdiotI've only got the Sham Mirrors, what other stuff do your reccomend?
Yeah, I've heard some Symphony X and Nightwish, they're not bad. I recently checked out Stratovarious though, they are amazing. 👍 Not too sure if they've been mentioned already.emadgive Black Label Society a try. Try older Pantera as well. You might also like Nightwish if you're into symphonics in the music. If you like Nightwish, you'll love Symphony X. Actually, try Symphony X first.

Dream Theater is my favorite band. I'll take a look at the other 2 you mentioned as well.FatAssBRI don´t like Stratovarius that much, but I have some friends that do. If you like Power/Melodic Metal you should also try some Angra and Shamaan. And of course if you still don´t know Dream Theater, give it a try.
Thanks, I'll give some of those a look as well. And please do go into why you hate Nightwish. The music forum needs to be stirred up a little. I think their music is OK, but sometimes the vocals turns me off competely.code_kevI'll name some bands I like. I'll ignore the "aren't dark/gothic/death metal"
Arcturus, Bathory, Pantera, Testament, Ulver, Death, Dissection, Entombed, Anthrax, Immolation, Immortal, Napalm Death, Paradise Lost (I think you'd love this band), Rob Zombie, Sepultura, Slayer, Bruce Dickinson, and Children of Bodom . There's a few bands I like. You may not like any of em, but allways worth having a look eh eh eh!
Have to add, I bloody hate Nightwish. IMO utter utter crap. I won't go in to why.
I think their music is OK, but sometimes the vocals turns me off competely.
I've never heard them, but are there vocals the "death scream" type? I don't know if there's a technical term for that kind of singing, but I don't listen to bands like Sepultura for example, for that very reason.Delphic ReasonThat's like me with Cradle of Filth... The music isn't terrible (not really that good either), but the lyrics and vocals completely turn me off...

Yes. And that will definitely be The Chaos Path. "One of the best songs I've ever heard".code_kevSo you got a fave Arcturus track then? Mine has to be wintry gray, one of the best songs I've ever heard.
That will be very difficult... And even if he sings better, Arcturus will never sound the same without him.code_kevBe interesting to hear their new album, I just hope the new singer is as good as Garm.
Yes, yes they do.555This may have been discussed already,

I've never cared about them quite enough to look up any lyrics, but I guess I see your point. For me, the music comes first way ahead of the lyrics. As long as the singer sounds good, I don't really care what he/she's singing about. But Nightwish leaves a lot to be desired in the musical department as well, so I've never really been too high on them.code_kevPretentious crap, at least bands like Ulver can be pretentious and brilliant at the same time. People act as if Nightwish are the most profound band ever, as if they are poets. These people go on about how tarja or what ever she is called is "classically trained", how the songs are great. All I see is a crap version of Children of Bodom, who cover Andrew Lloyd Webber, wear bin bags on stage, have silly sounding vocals, and sing about generic "goff" themes. I await the day when "metal bands with female opratic "goff" singers" die away. Rant over. For now. .
Capes? Fangs? Ha, sounds like a joke.code_kevNo, they are supposed to be a black metal band, and thus use black metal style screechy/ sceamy vocals. They are the joke of the black metal community, regarded as a traveling freak show of numptys, who sold out years ago. If fangs, capes, crap songs, top hats, terrible corpse paint and fat "goff" girls are your thing, then you'l love Cradle of Filth. I don't. Also Danni Filth is a tit.
FatAssBRIt´s called "Gutural" here, I don´t know if it´s the same word in English.

Did you know that the new singer is Simen Hestnæs? Great news! I've only found that now!code_kevBe interesting to hear their new album, I just hope the new singer is as good as Garm.

@ 64 kbps, right?code_kevI've heard some of the new Arcturus stuff, it's good, but what I heard was very low quality. I think I will buy the cd.
