Because they all are the same... Now please lets stop talking about Nickelback and friends and discuss actual metal... FFDP is metal and because they did a cover of a very awesome song that's a bit calmer then what they actually write doesn't compare them to Nickelback.

You will notice I gave more than one example. People seem to forget that part.

Well in that post you were talking about the vocal. But I'm talking musically as a whole Nickelback and FFDP are nothing alike..

If Chad did a metal band and dropped his crap band I would give it a listen too... And it would probably sound similar then but musically Nickelback is flippin boring.

Nickelback singer has a great voice IMO, and it does sound similar to the FFDP's singer.

By the way, watched a couple of clips from the new Creed album and it sounds just like the old Creed to me. It's not heavier.

Anyone here a fan of Psychostick, Man Must Die, Vader, or Living Colour, they have all had new albums recently, I know Psychostick's is great, I haven't heard the others.

One of the guys I rode bikes with years ago ( seth kimbrough) who became pro had a band for a while called Mortal Treason. They were strictly christian and were actually really good, I just got tired of hearing about jesus, jesus, jebus. Im not a christian so it got really tiresome, but they were really good.

yeah, As I Lay Dying and August Burns Red are both kick ass...but christian.

anybody listen to Slayers new album world painted blood??? its heavy as ****

I got the deluxe edition with the dvd

The new album is top quality, its standard Slayer aggression throughout.

I like the song Hate Worldwide, which opens with Tom Araya shouting "I'll stab you right between the eyes" 👍

Beauty Through Order and Playing With Dolls are a bit slower and more musical than the rest of the offerings but still deliver exactly what you would expect from Slayer, brutal soundscapes with an aggressive drum track driving you straight to the dark side. :scared:

The dvd is a short film with a Slayer soundtrack about a boy whos mother is murdered while he is playing out the front of the house, when he gets older he gos on a killing spree and cuts off various body parts of his victims and sews them into a bizarre human tapestry which he tries to make resemble his dead mother, he compares an old photo of his mother to his new doll and decides that hes not quite finished yet. He goes and kills his boss takes her eyeballs and inserts them into the eyesockets of the doll, then we see him lying on a bed with the doll. The film ends with the guy waking up on the bed alone & bloody footprints leading off through a door.

Now I've got a film that almost matches exactly the images conjured up in my head when I listen to Slayer :nervous:

yeah I agree...its top quality. the opening song is always stuck in my head ever since it came out! but kerry and jeff just KILL IT ON GUITAR! they have some more "modern" sounding riffs that sound good.

I think I am just asking for a bashing for this, but does anyone like Otep, I think they are amazing.

Otep is amazing. Poetic metal written by an extremely beautiful and talented women its really hard not to like. Otep fans should check out Straight Line Stitch and Deadlock. Both are a bit heavier but both are tremendously fun to listen to and also fronted by hot metal babes. Seriously nothing is sexier then a chick that can give a good growl. I'm a metal nerd I know

Here are some new stuff that I've been listening too...

Ankla: A metalcore band similar to Hatebreed... Very very awesome.

Austrian Death Machine: I've only listened to Double Brutal but I was laughing my ass off the whole time... "Nothing is more brutal then Neeaaaaahhhh!!" "And some times when I forget the lyrics I just go Neeeaaaahhh!"

Barren Earth: They have only released a four song EP called 'Our Twilight' but its some brilliant Melodic Death Metal... Flame Of Serenity I think is my favorite out of the four but I think they all are great and I can't wait to get my hands on a full release.

Black River: Pretty much a straight forward heavy/stoner metal band from Poland.. Similar to Volbeat and Chrome Division. Me likey.

Dagoba, Droid, In The Woods..., Sybreed are all good too. Check em oooutt!! Especially Droid and Sybreed.. Freaking amazing.

I have all of their stuff but havn't really listened to much of it. The few songs I have heard, I sort of liked. I suppose I should give it a real listen.

edit: @ Prosthetic...I <3 Sybreed.

Anyone like Mnemic? They are releasing a new record pretty soon.

Ayreon.... nothing else tops it.

Supergroups are awesome. I'm currently listening to The Human Equation. In what other metal album can you listen to all these awesome people singing, often in the same track.

- Devon Graves (Dead Soul Tribe)
- Devin Townsend (SYL)
- Eric Clayton (Saviour Machine)
- Mikael Åkerfeldt (Opeth)
- Magnus Ekwall (The Quill)
- Heather Findlay (Mostly Autumn)
- Irene Jansen (Karma)
- James LaBrie (Dream Theater)
- Marcela Bovio (Elfonia)
- Mike Baker (Shadow Gallery)
- Arjen Lucassen (Ayreon)

Didn't think you would like Ayreon. Maybe you'll like Star One too, which is a side project of Arjen Lucassen. I like it more than the Ayreon albums but that's because I'm addicted on Russell Allen's vocals and he's the main singer in the Star One project. He also sings "Dawn of a Million Souls" in Ayreon's Universal Migrator part 2 album, which also features a guitar solo from Michael Romeo.
