Ok, so I'm most likely going to the Volbeat, Machine Head, Metallica concert in San Jose on 12/12/09!!! :D I'm going to think of it as a birthday gift from myself to myself! :) Seeing as both Machine Head and Metallica are both local, and Volbeat has quickly become one of my favorite bands... I'm defiantly going to go, but to be truthful, I'm more or less going for Machine Head and Volbeat then actual Metallica. This will be my first real metal concert mainly because in the past I've been broke, no way to get there as non of my friends are going to spend money to go to a concert of a band they don't really like.

I haven't bought the tickets yet but I plan to within the next week or so, dunno how much I'm willing to spend. Also if anyone is in the area and wants to go with, we could make arrangements seeing as I will be going solo otherwise.

That should be an awesome concert. Machine Head puts on a great show, as long as Phil doesn't pass out. I've never seen Metallica, but I'm sure they do a good show as well. I'd like to see Volbeat too. They are so fun to listen to.

I used to listen to some christian metal bands a few years ago and I remember one was named Devil-something... I just thought this was it.

One of the guys I rode bikes with years ago ( seth kimbrough) who became pro had a band for a while called Mortal Treason. They were strictly christian and were actually really good, I just got tired of hearing about jesus, jesus, jebus. Im not a christian so it got really tiresome, but they were really good.

👍 Thats more like it, thats metal. Reminds me allot of good ol' sepultura, which is a good thing because they paved the way for good metal, gave it a blueprint if you will. Good jams.

Good metal did exist before Sepultura... But I do agree, Sepultura was one of the main influences for Brazil getting out of the dictatorship that it was in. They did more then just help metal, they helped saved their country. The Cavalera brothers should be in the rock n' roll hall of fame. To bad its to full of crap like Madonna who had nothing to do with rock n' roll. Whats funny is, I had to look up her name... Seriously, the fact that they only have Metallica in there is complete crap and a slap in the to one of the biggest genre movements. No Slayer? No Vendom? Megadeth? Anthrax? Deep Purple? Blue Cheer? WTFFFF

The fact that the Eagles got in YEEARS before Sabbath or the fact that RUN D.M.C. is in it.. WTF.

LL Cool J has a nomination? Wtf its Rock N' Roll not (c)rap.

But we have all been there.. I felt like ranting about something and since we were on the topics of Sepultura I got to this ending somehow...

Anyways Hatebreed released a new album.. I gotta check that out; Easily my favorite Metalcore band.

I'm looking forward to the new Slayer album "World Painted Blood" I've got tickets to go see them in London at the end of November. I've seen them a few times in the past but never since Dave Lombardo left and was replaced by Paul Bostaph, who is a good drummer in his own right but when compared to Lombardo there's no question who is the better drummer.

The guys are getting on a bit now and won't carry on touring forever so this could be one of the last chances to experience the sonic brutality which is a Slayer live show in the UK, get tickets while you can!!!

I'm hopefully seeing Ensiferum and Hypocrisy on the 19th of November, really excited for that one. I've seen Ensiferum before (loved them) but I've never seen Hypocrisy.

Five Finger Death Punch just released a new album on the 22nd called War Is The Answer.

Just listened to it last night and very very much like 👍 Then again I'm VERY found of Ivan Moody's vocals... so it could be that. Anyways its a good album for any FFDP or Motograter fan.

YES. I love this album... "Hard to See" is now the most-played song on my iTunes... after only 2 weeks. This album is up there with the new Three Days Grace album (Life Starts Now) as my favorites for this year.

Please never, NEVER NEVER EVER make that comparison or mention that band in this thread ever again. Or I would have to report you to an insane asylum. Please... Not even around here but anywhere!!!

So does anyone on here like StoneSour? I know alot of you would probably classify it as Hard Rock more then Metal but they do have a few decent heavier songs. My favourite songs would have to be:
-Made Of Scars
-Socio
- and 'Bother' , although it's much softer than most of their stuff.

Cheers, Cougar23

I dunno... I used to listen to Slipknot a lot a few years ago and when StoneSour came out I was instantly drawn to it, but it's too soft and mellow for me. I think I listened to Bother because it was the singled out song and maybe scanned through the rest of the music and liked Idle Hands as well. But that's about it. Nothing I want to shake my fists and rock on to.

My metal collection is comprised of most every genre except for nu-metal.

Particular favorites are:
Amon Amarth
Arch Enemy
Behemoth
Cradle of Filth
Deep Purple
Dethklok
Dio
Lamb of God
Led Zeppelin
Luca Turilli (I will give a cookie to someone who has heard of him before right now.)
Manowar
Mastodon
Megadeth
Metallica
Motorhead
Otep
Ozzy Osbourne
Pantera
Rammstein
Rush
Scorpions
Slayer
Tiamat
Type O Negative
Van Halen
Yngwie Malmsteen

👍

I bought this recently and blast it daily now in my truck. I unfortunately blew the fuse to my speakers' amp whilst rocking out. :(

I just got the new Five Finger Death Punch album. I've only listened to the first 2 tracks so far, and it's alright. I'll check out the rest tomorrow when I have time.

So I listened to it yeterday and I like it. Ivan Moody has a great voice.

Has anyone else picked up the remastered copies of Soilwork's first two albums? I'm listening to The Chainheart Machine and it sounds heaps better. 👍

I take it you didn't care too much for "Dying Breed" which is the first track on the album? That's my favorite one on there, that and "Walk Away". Canto 34 is a cool instrumental too. 👍

Alrightalrightalright... chill. :grumpy: For one, I never compared them, simply stated that both albums were among my favorites. For completely different reasons, by the way. If you object, I won't mention "that band" again in this thread, but that is a damn good album they put out. May I ask why you hate them so much?

Because if you take away the lyrics every song sounds the same, and then you can compare them to other bands of the same genre the songs sound the same still. Oh and the fan base etc.. etc.. And usually rock bands that discuss relationship stuff is a big turn off.
