The next-gen MX-5 Miata thread

Jaguar called, they want their slightly melted F Type back.

It looks NOTHING like the F-type/

Back end looks like an Alfa and I like it. Front is very meh. Will probably be a ton of fun to drive though.

Get the bloody band out of there, show us the car! I want to see the engine specs and new features.

Doesn't even feel like a car reveal.

The car looks OK from the front... if you have your head on the pavement. It's 3 feet tall and looks absolutely ridiculous from a normal height vantage point.

The rear is absolutely terrible. The lights are completely incongruous with the overall design.

Please God give it to the italians to re-do.

Yep, that confirms it. Only thing I am slightly hung up on are the tail lights. Other than that, I love it. Love it. Love it.

And the headlights are fine. At least they are not ginormous like 90% of the cars on the road.

I love it.

Sure, the front end could be better... but the MX-5 has never been sharper or more focused than this... it's like they took an NA and sharpened it up. It's so pared back...

Its a damn-good-lookin' car from any angle, honestly. Especially for a sub-$30k car that'll be just about everywhere, do just about anything, and be as reliable as a wood burning stove. It looks usable as a daily driver - the wheels aren't too big to kill the ride, the belt line is high enough to still look good but give an airy feel to the cockpit, the car doesn't seem ridiculously large or small, and looks to offer a lot of features that people want in new cars these days. Its about what we expected, nothing that we didn't. Perhaps that's exactly what Mazda needs at this point.

Just, uh, we'd love to know more about the curb weight and which SkyActiv engine is under there for sure. Also, how long until we can buy one. And whether or not it'll come in British Racing Green with a tan leather interior - as God intended.

Looks like they put the NC styling elements on the NA body shape (with a special guest appearance by the Z3). Looks great to me.

Not digging the front end much. The side is great and NB like. The rear is ok, and I think I will like it more as I see it. The front....ugh...why those headlights?

Looks heavily influenced on the NB.

So is that it for the stream? No engine specs, weight, nothing?
