I tell you what, I'm dead set on getting the Nismo Sentra when it arrives in the next 8-10 months, but if I decide that it just doesn't do anything for me.....Miata is the answer.

I'd say it has malicious grin. And if Maserati ever made a small 4-cylinder 2-seater, it would look something along those lines.

-> I like that white one with red calipers! :)

And here's the thing, there will never be a shortage of them. Once I get mine in Yellow, I'm going to collect an NA, NB & NC.
^ Will your NB be a Mazdaspeed? That would be awesome! 👍

Looking at both of those pics above, it reminds me of a modern take, of a fully fendered/bodied Caterham 7, especially with the grill shaped the way it is, and especially in the race car pic with the cage.

Launch Edition Pre-orders happened recently and ALL of the manuals are sold out.

I can't wait. If you try a New Mazda in manual, any model but the BT-50, the shift and clutch pedal action are perfect. The MX-5 has gotta be heavenly.

I know he is Australian.
And when im quoting a certain person, and saying "he" instead of "you"....

HOW does that not mean that im explaining something about someone else to the person i quoted?!
You could have been directing it towards everyone else reading, pointing out that 05XR8 was American. (or used to be....or something)

Sorry for the f-up, geez. Happy Monday to you too.

 I'm still North American happily living in the "Down and Under"(as one of my NY friends likes to say.

Edit: MX-5 production for Australia has begun. Can't post the link. I'll try to post a quote.

:D

Toyota Motor Corporation and Mazda Motor Corporation today entered an agreement to build a mutually beneficial long term partnership.By leveraging the resources of both companies to complement and enhance each other’s products and technologies, the partnership will result in more appealing cars that meet the diverse needs and tastes of customers all over the world.

A joint committee will now be set up to evaluate how best to utilize each company’s respective strengths. The committee will encourage broad and meaningful collaboration across a range of fields, including environmental and advanced safety technologies.

Marking the agreement, Toyota President Akio Toyoda said: “As evidenced by their SKYACTIV Technologies and KODO—Soul of Motion design, Mazda has proven that it always thinks of what is coming next for vehicles and technology, while still managing to stay true to its basic car making roots. In this way, Mazda very much practices what Toyota holds dear: making ever-better cars. I am delighted that our two companies can share the same vision and work together to make cars better. I can think of nothing more wonderful than showing the world—together—that the next 100 years of cars will be just as fun as the first.”

Representing Mazda, President and CEO Masamichi Kogai said: “Toyota is a company that has shown steadfast resolve in acting responsibly on global environmental issues and the future of manufacturing as a whole. I also have tremendous respect for Toyota’s dedication in its pursuit of ever-better cars through ongoing innovation. Furthermore, Mazda identifies with the way Toyota cherishes its roots and all of the communities it is involved in. It is no wonder they are held in great esteem in return. I hope that by working together to make cars better, we can raise the value of cars in the eyes of consumers while also enhancing the manufacturing capabilities of our home, Hiroshima, and all the communities we are involved in as well.”

Previous collaboration between Toyota and Mazda has included the licensing of Toyota’s hybrid technologies to Mazda and the production of compact cars for Toyota at Mazda’s plant in Mexico.

Toyota and Mazda recognize that there is considerable overlap between Mazda’s corporate philosophy of bringing joy to people through vehicles and Toyota’s commitment to making ever-better cars, as well as its dedication to company-wide structural reforms to realize true competiveness and sustainable growth.

This latest agreement will go beyond the traditional framework of cooperation, aiming instead to create a whole new set of values for cars through wide-ranging medium to long term collaboration.

The wait is almost over, with Australian Mazda MX-5 production beginning today - ahead of the sport car’s arrival in August - at the Ujina plant near Mazda’s headquarters in Hiroshima, Japan.

The All-New MX-5 weighs from just 1,009kg, a reduction of 91kg over the outgoing 2.0 litre car and close to the weight of the original 1989 NA model.

Measuring 3,915mm long, 1,730mm wide, 1,235mm high, with a wheelbase of 2,315mm, and front and rear overhang reduced to 760mm and 840mm respectively – which makes the ND the shortest MX-5 ever built.

Smaller, lighter and more focused, the All-New MX-5 is purpose-built with one goal in mind: providing the fun and wind-in-the-hair driving experience that only the MX-5 can deliver.

The MX-5’s lighter weight, enhanced technologies and greater performance will ensure that the 26th year of the MX-5 will be just as exciting from behind the wheel as the first 25 have been.

“Confirmation that Australian production has kicked off today is great news for our national dealer network and all of us at Mazda Australia," said Mazda Australia managing director Martin Benders,

"We have 16,000 registrations of interest for this fourth generation of the world’s top-selling roadster.

"The fact that this level of interest has been generated in just a few weeks since commencing our pre-launch communications, shows the level of passion and excitement that the All-New MX-5 generates.”
