The next-gen MX-5 Miata thread

But but but.. Answer isn't always Miata..? Especially not without proper coupe model.

Hey, if you have the means, I'm sure someone will come to your aid ;)

It's your former empires fault that the Japanese and a couple other countries have it wrong in the first place!

So blue is only available in GT models. Why?
Yeah I don't get it either. Got home and it finally let me put the appearance package without the brembos.

Not all that excited about the limited color options. Might just be worth waiting to see if they add more for '17.

They may most likely add more colours for the 2017 MY like how they did with the 2015 MY Mazda 6, where they added deep crystal blue mica and a dark metallic tan colour.

Don't get me wrong I wouldn't mind the Meteor Gray Mica as that's my current preferred choice on a Club model (would prefer the blue though...) but if they add another blue and make it available on the Club for '17 I would go that route.

Extremely basic options when looking at the base model (which is what I'd be looking at if I was in the market for it)....

......but I'm not complaining. Still would want one.

As the owner of a '96 MX-5 since the beginning of 2010, I think the ND is the best MX-5 so far in both looks and refinement.

All it's missing for me to consider buying one is a PRHT or at the very least, a removable hardtop.

I hear a removable hard top is in the works. This car also has the removable plates between where the top folds down and the rear trunk that you can remove and put the "Frankenstein bolts" in to fit a factory hard top.

Edit: REALLY wish you could get this color with the Club! Damnit Mazda. :grumpy:

I'm planning to check these out at the Mazda dealership while my 6 gets an oil change later in the afternoon.

Honestly, this would be my first ever actual feel of driving a Miata, so I can't be sure on how the others felt.

I do prefer the 16s. They'll be silver for the base 1.5. If I order now, it will get here end of spring(November)

It looks better with smaller wheels.
I agree. Just seems to suit it, without looking under-wheeled, as would normally be the case. Neat visual trick. I assume the rolling radius is the same whether people go for the 16" or 17" wheels, so the smaller ones still fill the arches the same.

My local dealer has 5 ND's listed in stock on their website, including a Meteor Gray Club which is what I want. Every single one of them are automatics. Come on people...

Because 'Merica. I can't even remember whether we're getting the auto in the UK. I assume we must be, but a quick scan of eBay shows how few will buy it - there are just shy of 800 MX-5s currently for sale, and 19 of those are automatic. And I suspect that most of those are Japanese imports, of which many are autos.

I can see maybe the Grand Touring models being Auto since that's probably the one most older folks will lean towards and they just want a sporty cruiser. But the Club model with an Auto? Get out... :grumpy:
