Oh boy that was exactly what I was fearing :nervous:. Are the muscle cars close to each other and just not with the European or are they all over the place too?

They were all pretty random. If I could get the lap speed dialed in the top speed was way out of whack, and vice versa. The muscle cars were somewhat closer to each other but were miles off from any European cars. I think I tested 5 different cars and couldn't get any two of them close to each other.

What time you testing tonight @BrandonW77?

Not sure, I'm doing something with a buddy after work so not until after that. Might be past your bedtime.
Your new avatar reminds me of this........

^ A fantastically ate up movie, if you like bizarre things that make you say "What kind of drugs were these people on?!?"! 👍 👍

Definitely looking forward to the vintage racing! I hope we do give the muscle cars a chance in their own race too sometime. There are plenty of choices, even if they aren't all premium (though some are Semi-premium, like the Charger and Superbird).

The Charger is full Premium, nice wood steering wheel and everything. But for some reason it won't accept number plates so I can't put a 01 on my orange Charger. :(

So what's the plan for track and cars then Mr B.

I didn't even notice you were on, until I noticed you went offline...! :boggled:
Never mind, next time.

Sorry, I was only on for a little bit. We're going to do vintage race cars (pre 1980), premium or standard, SM/SS. First race will be at Laguna Seca (home of vintage racing) with a lap time of 1:31 and a top speed of 140mph/225kph.

Can you give some example cars as reference? What was your reference car for the target time and top speed B?

I meant to gather a list of them last night, but got distracted by dinner. I set the target in the Challenger race car. Other candidates (off the top of my head) are the Camaro, Shelby Daytona, GT40, Trans Cammer (recommend adding racing brakes to this one), two Corvette race cars (though the open cockpit one will need some work to get it up to pace). Ummmmm, I think there were a couple others but can't recall at the moment. The Ferrari 250 GTO and Alfa TZ2 could be used but they'll need a bit of work to get them on pace too. The Shelby Cobra could also be allowed but after some testing I found it to be a lost cause. I like the Cobra, just don't think it can really get on pace with the other race cars (maybe, with lots of work).

So these are cars from both road and race variants? (Of road going cars... not outright racing cars...)

Also we are not running numbers if we have standards as an option!

@BrandonW77, just had a quick look into the car list and initial search gives us 135 ish cars, is there any criteria you want to apply or restrict? I can soon filter out those and leave us with a basic list. 👍

I'm confused. No road cars, only race cars (ie has some kind of livery, downforce, and racing brakes). Like these....

They should all have some kind of number on them already (even the standards), some of them you're allowed to change and some of them are just whatever number is on the car.

Ah ok... that was me mistaking cars with other cars! Doh :embarrassed:

Got it now though...

Which other cars were you including? If we can get a few more in the mix that would be fine. I only saw about 7-8 eligible cars in my garage but there could be a few others. To me a "race car" is something that was only intended for the track, has a livery, probably some kind of aero, probably racing brakes, stripped out interior with a roll cage.

I think the confusion came from when you said you tested the Shelby cobra. Which the one in game is the road going version but the car got its roots from the race car. I could be wrong though. I think hobbsy might've thought that we could race the cobra if we could get it up to pace

Well, technically the Cobra could be considered a race car and was widely used as a race car with little-to-no modifications necessary, which is why I mentioned/tested it. It would certainly look the part with the rest of the race cars, but I don't think it will be able to hang very well. If someone can get it dialed in though, feel free to slap a number plate on it and bring it racing.

It was the Camaro... 250 GTO and Cobra... all of which (for some reason) I was thinking of as the road versions. :dunce:
couple that with "vintage" and i guess I went all googly eyed or something!

I see where your going now though. I was testing the Vette race car (open top version), offline and was about 2 seconds off pace... :grumpy: was hoping to be a bit quicker, but feels like it lack quite a bit of grip compared to the others.

Sorry for the confusion. The Vette prototype is a bit down on power from the others and has considerably less grip but I reckon someone could get it on pace if they really tried. Same with the Alfa TZ2 and 250 GTO, down on specs but probably close enough that they can be done. The Vette race car I posted a pic of above has plenty of power and good grip though still slightly slippy (especially if you have an over enthusiastic right foot).

In completely unrelated news, this is happening at my local Mini dealer this Saturday. http://www.dreyerreinboldmini.com/MiscPage_2 It says:
• Where to? You'll start at our MINI store and drive the car to a SECRET LOCATION locally and then get to test our car and your driving skills on track like conditions under the instruction of a professional race car driver!!

I'm guessing that the Secret Location is the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the windshield sticker on the car in that picture is for a company that does track day performance schools at IMS exclusively with Mini's and it just so happens they're having a "school day" at IMS tomorrow (so all the personnel and equipment will already be there). So, I've signed up! It appears to be free and with no obligations, so even if it's just an open lot with cones it should be fun to flog a Mini. But if it's on the IMS road course, well they may have to clean some white stains off the driver's seat. :D:eek::D Stay tuned.....

That is really cool! Hope you win! :D 👍

Well, I don't think there's really anything to "win", just a chance to flog a Mini on some kind of race course, and that's good enough for me! And so far as I can tell, it's free, so I need to go check it out (even though I have no plans to buy a Mini).

@Sjaak that's quite snazzy. 👍

Who says you have to buy a mini? I would envy anyone who could throw a mini around a racetrack

Well, the point of the event is to get you to drive a Mini and thus want to buy a Mini. I wouldn't mind having a Mini (with a turbo) but only if I already had a Subaru of some kind to accompany it. And there's nothing saying for sure it's at IMS, but several signs suggest that could be the case (it's certainly the closest road course). Even if it's somewhere else, should be fun.

If anyone fancy's it, I have a public room open to do some testing for the vintage cars/track.
