The issues you folks are experiencing are a large part of what drove away a lot of the former GT racers from the game. GT5 was a better, more refined game. If they never pulled the plug on GT5's online support I'd still be playing as would many others. It is unfortunate, but if PD can have something together for PS4 that works in a timely fashion people will come back. The longer it takes and the more used to turning on GTA V and flight sims I will get and GT will be pushed further into the past.

I still hop on from time to time to try and enjoy the diversity of cars and tracks, but I'd be lying if I said I'd put up with the issues and enter competitively in a series. I do miss it, though, and that is unfortunate. I hope some of the core groups here endure this hardship as to have proper venues in place to race on the next release, despite a few having disappeared altogether.

I would say let's all sell our console stuff and invest in a gaming pc !
we can meet us in assetto corsa or Pcars :sly:
After weeks of connection errors and the huge disapointment about the pcars delay , I'm realy just a tiny step from getting one of these lovely triple setup
I would come back for GT7 of course :D

Yeah, it's rather pointless trying to host anything with serious competition anymore. There are certain problems which are constant and then it seems every other update either changes or breaks something involved with online racing. Which is sad because I miss it too.

I'm almost to the point of eating peanut butter samiches for the next two months and just sucking it up and buying a PC. I still have a very strong desire for competitive online racing but GT6 really can't provide that anymore and it doesn't appear that's going to change any time soon.

There have been countless attempts by many friends to move me over to Iracing, and while it's the best thing goin in the market right now, I really enjoy that diversity of cars and courses in GT. While I wish there were more relevant tracks to choose from(such as proper race courses rather than the HPDE resort layouts they've been adding this year) in GT, nothing rivals the car selection. I personally prefer to race production cars, in real life and in game. Iracing does not offer much in that respect, however when I am going to compete I prefer 'Spec' racing which of course is their bread and butter.

Despite my modus operandi I am actually a casual gamer, and that also makes it difficult as it would be near impossible for me to commit to a regularly scheduled series. Even when it was more common for me to race, I would only ever make a few of the ORCA events and usually pulled off as to not compete for points. Iracing does not lend itself well to the more casual schedule such as that. That is the primary reason I haven't moved over, as it is a rather large time and financial investment(I'd have to build a PC and redo much of my rig/setup) if you cannot commit to it.

I must say I was alarmed the other evening running a few laps. It would seem that although the graphics are updated from GT5 on paper, when applied in practice the system is forced to throttle the frame rate and resolution at a surprising rate just to keep the screen refreshing. Sections of track disappearing, track edges becoming jagged and pixelated, etc. Thats is why I feel that GT6 was a step back from GT5 in that way. We never had the level of proliferation of issues with GT5. Again, I am a fan of the series and I hope they can recover. If they can release a product that is still relevant in the market I would continue to be a customer, which I anticipate they can.

It would be too long a post to quote you all, but I have to say, every single one of you has made many valid points. I have been a GT nut since day one, and will tell anyone that it was GT that caused me to purchase my original PlayStation, (that I still have in storage), and it's likely that I will buy a PS4/GT7 at some point. I guess it's just not on the list like it used to be. There was a time when I would, like Brandon, go without eating, wear holey socks and lose girlfriends in preparation for the new PS or game coming along, and I have not been disappointed enough yet to really give up.

But with the proliferation of online gaming and the options and realism they offer, it may come down to time and finances for me. I am in the process of starting a business with some friends of mine, so time and money are going to get very scarce for the next year or so, and that's going to mean some serious sacrifices. So when it comes time for things to give, it's going to be a tough contest. I suspect I will always have GT, as long as they are making it. #timewilltell

Due to unforeseen circumstances I may or may not miss the first two races, so don't wait for me.

Yeah, we'll go ahead and run that combo again Sunday since we missed this past Sunday. Next week we'll be going to Silverstone GP with targets of 2:13 and 145mph/322kph (at the end of the second straight, Wellington Straight I believe).

Hangar Straight, or the Pits Straight?

Silverstone, eh? Excellent. Now I have an urge to grind enough to snag that old Jag and see if it can be nerfed enough to play with the others.

I believe it's Wellington, the second straight (exiting turn 5). Hangar straight has a slightly higher top speed but it was easier to check the speed on Wellington and when I had the cars dialed into 145 on Wellington they were all hitting the same speed (+/- 1mph) on Hangar.

Silverstone is the kind of track where our redneck (or burgundy neck in my case :P) Camaros will be at a definite disadvantage. I have had decent luck tuning the Red Devil Camaro, it takes paint and a number, has plenty of horsepower and a 6-spd trans. You other Camaro fellas may want to take a look at it for that race. There's no way we'll be able to keep up with Brandon's Cobra and that Ford @Drex124 was driving any other way unless they show up drunk. That track was made for their cars.

I also gave r34 a pretty hard hit at the top of the corkscrew on the 1st lap of the 3rd race, American muscle is hard to slow down in the draft.

Braking in general is tough with all that steel @Torzilla That's the one problem I have had the biggest struggle with in trying to tune these cars. Besides that, I thought it was pretty funny. That tire barrier came out of nowhere! Just jumped right in front of me!

as long as I hit the target time ? :D
Jk, just a quick question , which cars exactly are available ?
you said race cars pre 80's, but there are not much of them (or I'm to stupid to find them )
or is any pre 80's car with a racing number plate considered as "race car"
I would love to drive an premium btw , and It should be something else then a 20mio car or an american torquezilla ;)
