pretty brave to put the fate of your cam in the hands of some suction cups. :D
but the result is very good!đź‘Ť

Thanks :) Yes I was quite worried about the rig holding, so I tested it alot before actually using it :)

just a few from HIN here at chicago. i wish i had more motivation to take better pics there but man the rice i tells ya

Yes that car is a 95 accord, will do it soon with a 350Z :)

the rig is pretty simple, I'm going to try to make one with more joints to give me more flexibility, but all in all its about $6 worth of parts at the hardware store vs buying one for alot more. I was worried if the suction cups would hold the weight but they held a video camera up to 150 mph so It was fine :)

I would'nt use that rig again. It could fall off at any time.
Go here and you'll find all kinds of grip equipment.

They make many different clamps that a tripod head can be safely mounted on.

As I said it held a video camera to the outside of a 350Z at 150 mph so I felt pretty safe with it :) But thanks for the link I'll have to check it out, I'll need something sturdier for my DSLR :)

Ive got a few questions:
1. Is it ok to point and take a picture of the sun directly?
2. What's the difference between Smart and Precision Zoom??
Thanks!

regarding the sun...i have heard that there is a possibility of damaging the sensor, so you should be using a fast shutter speed a small aperture (caution: the higher the number, the smaller it actually is;)).
but you should do that anyway, as you would otherwise overexpose the image.
i have no idea about the zoom though...maybe you should tell us what cam you're talking about. ;)

Since there's quite a lot of activity in this thread now, and as part of the new combination of the Digital Art sections, I'm unsticking this thread.

Don't forget, thread regulars, that you can choose to subscribe to the thread. However, I suspect it will have no problem remaining on the front page of the forum.

Its a Sony Cybershot P200. The reason im asking is because apparently around 11-12ish theres going to be a partial eclipse over the UK and i wanted to get a good pic so i wanted to know which zoom would be best and if its safe to point my camera at the sun.

I would be surprised if you got a decent shot with a camera like that. I would suspect that it would not be able to get a sufficiently fast shutter speed and a sufficiently narrow aperture to avoid the brightness of the sun burning out any darkness from the eclipse.

You should limit your, and the camera's, exposure to direct sunlight.

A few B&Ws:

I found myself taking most of my shots in B&W. Seeing some of the beautiful colours produced by your dSLR shots makes me dislike more and more the colours that come out of my little FZ3. Also, anything taken above ISO100 comes with a LOT of noise and B&W helps as well in that department.
Anyway, I think that's the reason. đź‘Ž

i kinda felt the same with my fuji...a reason why i will get me a DSLR the next days...:D

anyway, some really nice shots nevertheless! i especially like 1&2. 2 doesn't even look like it was B&W.đź‘Ť

DiabolicalMask: Pictures 1 & 2 are stunning. 3 is almost as good. Pic one reminds me of the Citta di Aria track in GT4!

Well, I use my mom's Canon S500 and I love it, haha.

Gonna go into Atlantic City tomorrow hopefully and do some photoshoots with liek my only friend that's into photography as much as me, haha.

Thanks for the comments, guys. I'm really glad you enjoyed them especially since, as I said before, I was not happy at all with my shots. đź‘Ť

@franz: Nop. I was standing on the sidewalk and it was taken handheld. But the picture was originally horizontal. That's a crop.

Broke out my macro adapters. These things aren't really that great. The edges get so soft! Oh well, ya get what you pay for.

Okay, here's the latest pictures i've taken (have heaps more on CD's, but these pics are ones i purposely took for wallpaper shots or whatever.

I really oughta carry the camera with me more often - there was a potential photo i saw tonight with the sunsetting sky and a power pylon (don't know how it would have turned out though - our camera's aren't flash enough to take night shots).

Take a look at a few more on this page.

Speedy: I like macro shots :D I think the phone is my favourite, though.

Mustang man: They look niiice :D What camera were you using?

Cheers dude. I was using either the Olympus FE100 [4.0mp] which belongs to my brother, or the Kyocera Finecam L30 [3.2mp] which belongs to everyone. :)

Always had a thing for automotive photography (I buy EVO at 15$ an issue) and haven't really had that much oppurtunity to take some decent shots, especially where I'm the boss (I can't tell passerbies what to do downtown). Are any of these any good? What should I try to do next time?

My friend's 240SX, took one picture just after he payed for gas. Ignore the mismatching wheel set, the Sentra pair was free:

A 330Ci I stumbled upon one evening in Michigan

My buddy's Impreza during a navigation rally (that we won booyaka).

A pair of Ferrari's one night (the election campaign poster was also washedout cause it stood out too much)

Any crits? I'd love to get good (better at least) at this.

Wow, some great pics Mustang - Man; I really like the satellite one.
