some shots from around town

I've not been around recently. Wanted to big up some of the great work that's being posted here...

I'd like to take all of them for a ride.

I thought that the duality between these two shots was intentional too. Whatever, it's great.

I know sunset shots are really cliche, but I really like this one.

It's a goodie, but your horizon is not level. Also, I know lots of people would ask you to put the horizon at one-third or two-thirds in the frame. I'm not bothered personally.

Went outside tonight and got these.

CPL's ftw. 👍

Love these. Esp the first one. Firey.

Love this one. Just enough shake to add some life to the shot. You should drop a line between each image though: it kinda ran into the (also very good) embers shot.

These shots are huge so I do want to post the originals.

Any comments would be appreciated, I'm trying to learn about photography.

And indeed you shouldn't post the originals. Somewhere between 700 & 800px on the long edge is the max here please. As to the pics, the third is my fave. I like the diagonals running through it. The first two are technically fine, but don't really offer anything interesting to me. If you're looking to shoot cars for a living though, good start!

i went out and explored an old truckyard, some shots;

The broken window is a real grabber. I can't put my finger on why. It's excellent though. Love the "hey anti". The speckles (presumably that's water droplets between you and the mirror?) adds a nice variance to the standard "Look at me with my SLR" picture. And I love the tree too.

Wow seeing all these pictures is making me want to just run outside with my camera..

A home made light box. Printer paper, Flashlight, built in flash, and my reflector. Along with the Sigma 17-70mm. Just experimenting.

Thats a nice NSX up there, like the wide body.
Here are a couple pics that i took with my cell phone i though i would share. The reason i am sharing them is that well, i can't believe the quality i get out of my cell. Its a Nokia N90 with a 2.0mp camera, carl zeiss lense with Tessar 2.9\5.5 autofocus. These images are straight off my phone with zero photoshop done to them. The reason they all have the same frame is i just like that style and the other ones on there are just lame. First one is my daughter who thinks my tripod is her camera, second is my newest son sleeping and the last are the keys hanging out of my work van.The phone has a little image editor on it as well as a video editor and pdf reader and gobs of other sorts of business type software to use, nice phone just its the size of a small brick:) What do you guys think of the quality from a cell phone? I wouldn't be surprised that within the next 5-8 years that DSLR's will be coming with 50 plus MP's.

Sweet B&W shot exigeracer, also really like yours too Bee. Nice avatar as well. :D
Loving those sky shots Integra Type R.
And of course, nice work from you GTR_guy and anti. 👍

Coming to this thread always makes me wish I had a better camera.

I decided yesterday that I would have a go with my camera at some "artitistic photos" apart from I got bored of taking photo's of flowers and all that rubbish. Then I started taking pictures of well my car.....'s.....please bear in mind I did these on a Finepix A310 which isn't a digital SLR just a digital.

Could you guys tell me how to improve and all that stuff all I used for these photo's were a tripod and the camera nothing extra.

I like the gear shot but it seems like you overused that style a bit too much. Instead of focusing on an object just look around, experiment. Also, make sure they are straight when you're shooting them.

Here's a random handful of pics from the last four years or so. Any comments or critiques are appreciated, I know I've got lots to learn! :dunce:

Mountaintop at St Mary's Lake near Kimberley, BC, Canada. I used to be an RF radio tech, and I was up there servicing a VHF repeater station.

Awesome 👍, I like all of them, especially the Vegas one.

After seeing some of you guys' (and speedster502's)shots i thought i show you some of mine(bear in mind i used a Polaroid PDC4350 which is ok but knowhere near as good as DSLR's i have seen and had a go with!:()
Heres one of two of my cars(parents)
(i have not edited them in anyway)and they won't be anything like you guys' shots'

Please tell me what you think and how to improve.

Cheers

Thanks very much Joey!:D

Im suprised about the brightness as my car was parked in between two houses.

Haven't had much time lately to do anything, but here's what i got the last time i had a min. For some reason they put these kid statue's downtown and some more at the hospital, kinda creepy looking in real life.
