That's a really cool result skyline, but I think I prefer the before shot. Maybe you could make it a bit moodier with some extra blue.

gotta love those sun behind the cloud shots, you get some really awesome shots especially if you get that rainbow effect too. Only down side is when your at 200mm framing your shot and the sun decides to peek out lol

like just add more blue to that image or the whole thing like this?

That's closer. I was thinking cold. Like maybe take the "before" shot and squash out all of the yellow and red. You might leave the contrast as-is too to give it a gloomy look.

ok so, being the noob that I am, I never really ever bothered to use the curves tool in photoshop, or the mask, or even the patch tool, all I've pretty much ever used is brushes, burn tool, clone stamp, and hue/saturation/contrast filters etc.

needless to say I'm an idiot :dunce: as curves are one of the coolest tools around :D found a tutorial online explaining it and decided to give it a try with the image they provided and I like the result. It kinda makes me wonder what other things I'm neglecting... the pen tool has to be one of them...

I think the image is a bit too 'chaotic' in the first place. Curves does own me and my family. It's great for contrast, recovering dark areas, and creating Integra Type R like color tones using the channels. I did this using curves for colors;

I can't think if you're missing anything else, all I really use are curves, Auto Color and Auto Levels (so what), and dodge & burn.

Learn how to use the pen tool. It's very good for precise selections.

Mental note to not bother with Ilford film anymore. While it is a very nice film and does make for some nice pictures, two weeks to get it processed (no where here in my city can process it) and cost of $22 for one roll plus a CD (of which they did a crappy job of scanning)

I took quite a few pictures on my Tail of the Dragon trip, and some of them ended up being pretty neat. I was using a friend's Nikon Coolpix L4

These three just happened because the camera is slow.

This is a 1:00am picture of the dam and generator building at the bottom of the Dragon.

I did some messing with the curves of the first, and edited the second to look old:

EDIT: Actually I'm editing some other pics now. Their weird, but neat, I think. I took them all in Denny's.

Always great to come back here and see what you guys are doing. Some top work! 👍

Here's something "new" from me:

Here's the pictures from the Denny's restaurant. I didn't move out of my seat for any of these.

Here's one from a Gatlinburg hotel:

hey, i'm kinda new here, and i do photography as well, but mostly analog (diapositives)... I've got a small digital now (Canon Powershot Pro 1, 8mp, but not so good i think), and i got it three times to rallycross, but now it's still learning a bit...
when i've got some good shots, i will show them...

The Canon Pro 1 is one of Canon's finest point and shoots. Just learn how to use and find ways to get around it's shortcomings. :)

He got some major shortcoming's, like the low aparture (only till 8), which make panning with a lot of light as good as impossible... And it will be very difficult to find a solution for that... I think I just learned photography with too good analog camera's (AT-1, A-1, EOS 1000 FN)... I will try to post some try-to-pan pics with the powershot...

ND filter perhaps? My G7 has one built in and I use it whenever I need to lower my shutter speed on sunny days.

Because we always used canon SLR-camera's, we only got color filters and special filters for bigger canon-objectives... Buying a filter that only can be used on the small powershot pro objective seems like a waste of money, because i'm saving for a (second hand) 300D, 350D or 400D... I tried to upload some photo's on a site called deviantart, but it doesn't worked like it should...

^Organizing stuff is always a pain, hu? ;) You have some interesting shots in the "Unorganized Pics", but you really should make a selection.

Anyone care for these?

It goes without saying that there isn't any kind of second intentions in that first shot...

About the second one, I really like it. Or at least I liked the idea... It was taken from inside a tram, but the dynamic range was too big and it needed heavy post-processing, so I'm not sure about the result.

I found this mask at work and decided to do a little self portrait in the studio, I'm having trouble deciding on a fav one, thoughts?
