That first cathedral shot is jawdroppingly beautiful! Little things like the bird flying through the sky to the top right make the image even more than just a simple cathedral shot. I also love the colours you've used for those photos because they are quite unusual for that style of photography. You've inspired me to go out tomorrow and get some photos of my local church and graveyard! I'll post the results here. 👍

EDIT: Are they HDRs? I've just noticed the lighter areas around the outlines of the buildings...

But I like Notre Dame more:

Nice flying buttresses. :)

Seriously, amazing shots F1!

A couple more new-ish ones:

Thanks guys! :)

Moglet: The two Notre Dame shots are HDR, but for the Canterbury ones I did a lomo-ish colour scheme with them since the sky and Cathedral were both exposed well. I can't wait for your shots, they're always nice. ;)

Crackhoor: Nail fence? Quite like it!

New pictures update from me, it really will pay off if you click the bee's in motion ones, they are some of the better shots I've taken of insects in flight.

Enjoy.

What lens do you use? Those are awesome shots!

Standard Kit lens and a Tamron 300mm, but all those were the kit lens from the 400D kit, some with a 31mm extension tube too. 👍

I just found an old photo from a tiny Polaroid camera I used to have! It produced images that are about 40mm wide and 25mm high, so they're very small but they have a certain charm I think. I'll see if I can uncover some more. Here's the one I found anyway, and yes the dog was upside down when I took it!

I wish I could find the camera again now! :(
I also found some old shots from a crappy little camera I used to have for snapshots. The battery compartment had to be held closed with loads of tape all the time. I took these when I was about 12 or something! None of the images have been edited apart from a resize.

Hey everyone, I've noticed a lot of photographers use the mac so I've decided to give it a try and see what all the fuss is about.

I've installed OSX tiger on my PC (thanks to uphuck and OSX86) and I now dual boot between OSX and Vista, its a bit different but I'm getting used to it =) its really nice that I can do this since I cant exactly afford a new mac at the moment =)

anyway so now that I'm onto this whole mac experience, other then CS3, what programs should I be looking at?

thanks guys :D

@ skylineGTR_guy

Aperture is ok, but I found lightroom allot better, both initially the same, but lightroom integrates with photoshop and bridge. Try the free trial first before purchase as I went ahead and got it, and hardly touch it now im on with CS3 and lightroom.

My first time shooting RAW! I always have a problem with the white balance. That's why I need to move on to RAW even it takes up so much space. Working in Camera Raw is hell lots of fun, dangerously addictive. I guess most of you have already passed this phase and call me a newbie  I also think I mess up the viewfinder focus, maybe I need to learn how to use autofocus instead.

I've got a canon A630, and I have a problem. as you can see in the pic, I got the lighting pretty close to real life for most of the picture by playing around with iso, fstop, and shutter speed... but the pole in the foreground and a few other darker objects came out a bit darker than they were to my eye. Is there any more I can do? i'm new to this...

you have to remember that your eye has a higher dynamic range than any camera out there so film/digital will always be slightly different, any edits you might want to make could easily be done in photoshop or you could take some HDR images and adjust each image in the set to fit your needs.
