Nice shots. Great sky. I picked up a bunch of gear yesterday, so I've been playing today. Shots later.

"so more empty space is what i'm hearing?"

i thought these were kinda cool i guess. i was messing around with the chemicals inside polaroids, got somewhat of a technique down and created these 4

I haven't posted much here for a while since I recently moved house and hadn't touched my camera for ages until a few nights back, so here are just a few shots from the new house;

i like the last one

Needs more empty space. ;)
I'm not sure how I forgot about this lot, I just found them on my computer. I took 330 photos of various races at the local stadium, unfortunately since it was banger racing it all took place behind big metal fences but I think I still managed to get some good shots from it. I think the shots of the damage from the pit area came out better though;

and I'm especially proud of this one, the composition just seems right;

Got myself the EFS 17-85mm USM IS today, for the 400D and have been comparing it to the kit lens, i will post some test shots later comparing them directly. The tomorrow i will be out and about so a flurry of shots will be coming too.

well a quick look at the images and TBH its only a little better than the kit lens, or maybe its because im a poor photographer either way its not worth the price.

both images have not been messed with apart from the obvious shrink and text and in the case of the top images a crop at 100%.

I think that the 17-85 is useful for the extra 30mm, and the three-stop IS. These will help you to get shots that you can't get with the 18-55. However, while it may be more useful, I don't think it's an intrinsically better lens.

Yeh i could be taking this one back, its not a great lens, i will see how well it does tomorrow but if its a poor performance then i will just stick to the kit lens a bit longer and get the 180mm F3.5L Macro USM.

as you can see the colours captured are nice but thats about it apart from the little bit of extra clarity, the IS is quite nice, especially since i use extension tubes and this darkens the images and thus making the IS come into play over slightly longer exposures when handheld, but i will see tomorrow, if not its going back monday morning.

We got the keys to our new house today. Was wandering around in the garden, and came across this:

And a 100% crop from the frame. Quite liking the sharpness of this lens.

Lots of flowers to shoot in this garden. I think that the 100mm Macro will get some good use.

Well as promised i went out with the new lens the other day and it actually started to grow on me, took some nice sharp shots.

Nice shots there Sprite. I like the ones on the canal.

Thanks all of them were taken around the same spot on the canal. But even tho the images were ok, I took the lens back as Ive found that i could have saved £200 by buying from an online store, plus this way i can now save for the Canon EF 70-200mm f2.8L IS USM for £1099.00 Inc VAT.

Just got to start saving the pennies.

You can get that 70-200 for £980 + £10 P&P. New, and free of import duty. It's what I paid. If you're interested, I'll PM you the details.

sweet yeh that would be great. Thanks

I took a few shots during the fires here in San Diego. Unfortunately, only of the smoke-effect, as we were evacuated to the coast from Escondido. Check out my DeviantArt if you want to see them -- [LINK]

My PC crashed, and i'm on a POS, so it would take me an hour just to post them here. Thats why I gave the link; they're the latest works on the dev-art link.

Fresh out of my new camera, love it. :D

EDIT: Odd, the colours don't seem as punchy when viewed on Firefox...

Hopefully you should start to see some photo's from me soon, I got a Fuji Finepix F40fd for my birthday yesterday and I'm loving it :D Although I do know I won't be able to get quite as good as shot as you, because most of you are using SLR's...something I just can't afford.

photo collage i had to do for class. 8 images in total, 2 are digital and the rest are film.

Caught this Sunday morning. This is a picture of the Mission Mountains here in NW Montana between Kalispell and Missoula.

Charlie - the two last ones look amazing when they're presented alone, but it's hard on the eye to look at them together, the colours just bounce off eachother and they lose that strength they have when they are alone.

Pako - looks interesting. The unsharp lighter areas on the mountains are just totally cut off by the sharp edges of the horizon.

Reminds me of when I drove through Montana.

Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet! I really dig those, the last one is now my desktop ;)

haha really? thanks
