I had an example of something similar to that at work this week. I'm a dispatcher for a courier company. We were trying to get a customer's package tendered to an airline. The airline required that a specific label be machine printed, not hand printed. They are just about the only airline with this requirement, but it's their airline, so whatevs. The label was blank so the driver could fill it in, but they wouldn't allow it. A second driver went up there to see if he could help out. When the manager saw him, he told him it was okay just this one time. The first driver was black. The second driver was white.

Can't really tell if Sir Keir is putting his career on the line as some kind of 4D chess move; where by resigning he would compel BoJo to do the same; or he just wants to at least receive an "honourable discharge" for his transgressions, so to speak.

Of course BoJo would never see it that way and would just take it as a political victory and continue to cling onto any distractions he can.

Starmer left himself no choice having demanded Johnson's resignation. He's either going to be painted as a hypocrite (not entirely unreasonable), or potentially, a leader with the courage for his actions to follow his words, which is going to make Boris look like more of steaming pile of ****.

Can you explain the typical Russian's understanding/awareness of Chernobyl? I was pretty surprised by reports that some of the soldiers might not have known what they were literally digging into.

Well, considering it was a big "oopsie" from the US' chief adversary during a particularly adversarial period, I'd guess that it is well known in the US. But I see your point.

edit: I should add, the Chernobyl Disaster itself is well known, but it's very unlikely many Americans would have known (at least before the Russian invasion) that Chernobyl is in Ukraine...or where Ukraine is...or Ukraine is a place.
