Sometimes I feel like this when I read on this forum:

http://xkcd.com/810/

I will admit, I am not that impressed with the videos that Tekken posted of damage. I would also like more customization in terms of a livery editor, however, given everything else that is in the game, that is very little to complain about. People who complain about the lack of Premium cars make me sick. GT4 still looks good to this day, and the Standards in GT5 look even better. A course editor, and online capability? I think there is plenty to keep me interested for a long time coming...
👍

I'm a convert to this thread.

I've been feeling disappointed about some of the information appearing about GT5 over the last few days - particularly the lower than (I) expected track count.

However, last night I played GT4 for the first time in ages.

And now I'm excited again! GT4 in HD, with improved physics, better sound, more cars, online functionality, course maker, weather, time transition and so on sounds fantastic. I'm also personally certain that more tracks will appear via DLC.

Anything else - and I'm sure there is more - is the icing on the cake!

Horns....there is 2 photos taken on a camera phone in one of the threads.......where in those threads they now would take sherlock holmes to find, they were posted last night around midnight UK time and thats as specific as I can be.
Rough description, it was a red horn and it was for sale in the tuning parts section.

Sherlock Holmes is here with this horny find (credits go to GT'S BiG FaN for pictures):

LOL nice one LOL

The horn thing is turning into a bit of a joke on this thread
"I don't care about any of it, there's horns, I'm happy"
But on another note it seems just like paint schemes you can collect horn sounds! Please let there be a comedy dukes of hazzard horn.....if not however I'm cancelling my order....worse game EVAR!!!!

LOL

cheers again to sherlock holmes.

But hold on a second! In our mischeivous mirth we seem to have unlocked a bit of a secret.....please allow me this jump of logic, paint schemes we know you have to collect, horns also from the descriptive text on that picture.....whats at the top? Engine tuning parts? dose this mean you can collect specific special tuning parts? Also and most importantly look right at the top of the picture.....all of these things are in a section called "Items" thats very very interesting.

When you look at the tuning vids engine tuning has simply stage 1, 2 and 3. There was also the option for a race/sports ecu as well but nothing else. Could it be you have to "earn/unlock" specific tuning parts such as race cams, pistons, cranks and valves? possibley it would seem....any thoughts?

Or maybe those videos are not from the final build of the game? There are some speculations on that part as you may know.

Hereward

Feel horny, eh? :dopey:

Boy what a week I have planned.

Friday our new 50 inch Samsung plasma 3D arrives, then next week the big one GT5 to play on it.

Finally we will have a TV with 1080P and I thought 1080i looked the bee's knees.

Now I need a better sound system for all those new horn sounds "la Cucaracha" anyone?

I'm so glad I didn't give into temptation and play/own GT5 Prologue, I'm sure I would feel disappointed regarding the lack of new Premium models outside of the Prologue title.

You've missed out, no point going back to it now though, there wern't that many cars in GT5P to be honest and there old build's so look inferior to GT5 car models, plus the physics between GT5P and the GT5 350z TT demo (much later build) were miles apart so what GT5 physics will be like is a big suprise but again should be way ahead of GT5P

Am I the only one who is thinking that's great when people say "Its just a HD version of GT4". Thats what I want-GT4 was a great game and I played it to death and still play it now-seeing those graphics in HD really will be good enough for me and everything else is a bonus. When I booted up GT4 the other day after a long time away from it I was still impressed by the graphics, so a crisp HD version of that will suit me nicely.

This This This! All I've been wanting is an updated GT4. GT4 is my most played PS2 game, that was back when I had all the time in the world for video games.

My expectations were exceeded in one moment. Online. This feature alone expanded GT5 beyond all my imagination. I'll be playing this until the end of time (Or GT6 :sly:)

Bring on GT5! I can't wait to buy my used FTO and start sticking ridiculous modifications on it. Then tear up the Sunday cup! The memories are what the GT Life is all about.

It looks like Polyphony chose quality over quantity.
We've seen pieces of breathtaking features: graphics, weather effects, damage... It's not everywhere all the time (yet), but that's understandable knowing how immense the quality is.
With the addition of the track generator & the inclusion of standard cars, we won't get tired of GT5 either.

I wanted the damage to be a bit more sensitive (or adjustable) than what I've seen. If they nail the online part, it will be close to the perfect game though.

This thread is great :)

Glad to see we have so many positives to look forward to.Actually to me everything about this game is a positive.👍

Off topic a bit and on a sad note. The good thing is my gamestop will be doing a midnight release, the sad part is i've got to work 3rd shift that night. It was a last minute thing so i can't get out of it :(

Despite knowing what cars are on the list and what tracks are in the game, I will still be eager to find out if the tracks look any different from the last time I remember playing on them. Except for new original circuits, I have raced on all of the tracks at one point in a previous video game and I'm excited to find out if Monza will look any better (as the last game that I had with it is 13 years old). I can't wait to unlock the Super GT cars and race around everywhere in one as happy as can be.

Not being able to change the wheels on 800 of the car's is gonna be this game's biggest Failure. Other than that it will be awesome.

And the lack of rims is more than made up for the addition of changeable paint and horns :D

Sadly, not all the cars have horns 👎. It would be cool to know what an Ferrari F10's horn would sound like.

Whats the deal with this wheel thing?

Do some people think this is a ps3 version of pimp my ride or something?
Hey moron, you do know changing rims has an impact on a cars PERFORMANCE, just like the tires do.

You are oblivious at best..

It seems that a lot of people on the forums do not realize that in GT4 the wheels were a cosmetic upgrade and added no change to performance. Sure some cars look better with a wheel change but that is not a big deal. You can't see them when you are racing. To me the most import part is the rear of the car because this is the part other people will see, briefly :)

No, paint doesn't change performance of a car while the rims can impact this. Also horns don't do anything for racing. All you said is the addition of things that don't effect racing are better than the omission of something that does effect racing performance. You sir got your priorities ****'d up!

That's all it's about is the cosmetic aspect. I loved putting different wheels on a car and going into photo mode. Gt4's only problem was wheel size, you didn't get a larger rim until you put racing tires on. I just really want an explanation WHY we can't change the wheels on the standard car's, im mean seriously. Will the game explode or something?

Not that much difference, very little tbh. Lets face it, 90% of people want them for asthetics -_-

You guys will never be happy with Gran Turismo, always wanting more and more, yet wanting an earlier and earlier release.

I will love the game anyway. Don't have cockpit view in all cars is the worst part for me...
But i really don't care if won't be weather for all tracks, sure it will be good to have all tracks with it.

The most part of the complainers fogert that what GT 5 is offering, no other game offer. I just can't wait to play it. I'm sure GT 6 will have everything that GT 5 have and much more.

I dont care for the standard cars, Because in all the Gran turismo's i had around 100 cars, there's 220 premiums, i'll probably have a garage full of about 150 premiums. I never really use the all the cars in GT, just some supercars and race cars.

Wheels, standards and premiums......

First up wheels, In Forza wheel changes effected weight, thus performance, in GT they didn't and don't in GT5, it's just for that custom look. Dose it effect the game, no, if there were no wheel changes available at all would it even get mentioned, no. Can you see your own wheels when driving? no, You can see them in photo mode but thats an added feature (a good one) and one that has no direct bearing on the core of the game which is driving.

Premium V's Standard......the big thing here is the cockpit view.....personaly bumper cam gives the best view to race in, you can see the apex more clearly and can place the car more acuratly, but thats a personal thing. In previous GT games there was no cockpit view, and in Forza 2 there was no cockpit view whatso ever.....At the time other car sims had cockpit views, but it didn't stop Forza 1 &2 being stunning games nor did it stop GT1, 2, 3 and 4 also being stunning games without it!
I must point out back on the PS1 the first NFS had cockpit views! and that was out before GT1.....cockpit views are not new but nor are they the most common veiw point to race in, there nice but not a necesity for most.

Graphics........Ok standard cars don't look as good as premium cars......yes thats a fact, they don't look that far off and in race conditions there's no imediate difference. But standard cars are still better looking than any other car in any other console racing game!

Quick point at the end. the best "sim" on the PS3 would be one of the ferrari challenge titles........people love it, I love it, but if you look at the cars on offer, the tracks on offer and the (sorry) pitiful looking car models you would be hard pressed to see why people like it so much.....until you actualy drive the cars in it........that is the same with GT5, if you look at the physics of GT5P and the GT TT there physics are even better (GT5P debatable but GT TT definatly) and thats the whole point, it's a driving game, forget the whistles and bells, get in there, drive it and remember why the GT series is renound for being the title that allways pushed the genere forward every time a new incarnation was released.
