I couldn't agree more. I remember when I played prologue for the first time I though this is the best game in the world, and all Kaz would have to do is add more cars and tracks and it would still be the best game ever made. Not to mention the updated physics, graphics, weather, night racing, online, WRC, Nascar etc. etc. etc...

Its going to be a long 9 days

Dummie question:

How hard it is to patch the game and get dynamic weather and day/night cycle in all tracks or static variations with these features?

It would probably require completely redoing the tracks themselves as far as textures and lighting go. It can be done, but it wouldn't be any easier than just making a new track.

Hmm, so Suzuka already has a rain version. Now would incorporating rain on a variation of Suzuka also take the same time to patch a rain version? Seeing that they already have the code of rain for the whole track, it's easy to assume that the north version of Suzuka would be much easier in terms of incorporating weather.

My new favorite word is WHELK. It's a fish and they make sushi with it but all I see when I hear that word is a whale with antlers.

that made me chuckle mate, 👍

A positive for me is I have been steering well clear of the video's and image's leaked onto the net. Looking forward to finding things out for myself and the suprise will be worth the wait I feel.

9 days to go here in Aus, its 1630 here so today is over, lol...

I feel like the people who complain about no way to personalize cars are the same people who bash on Alfa Romeo..
Because in a way GT5 is like Alfa Romeo.
They both look extraordinary good; have soul and passion written all over it and last but not least,
they both lack stuff in terms of others. But if you look past the latter, oh how much you can enjoy them!

Clarkson? is that you? :sly:

"Lacks stuff in terms of others"

This is the thing IT DOSN'T!

Think about it, put together the top ten driving titels on the PS3.....no thats not fair put together the top ten titles on the PS3 and 360 then list what features those games have over GT5.....you'll probubley be able to count them on your fingers of one hand, now do the oposite, see what things GT5 has over it's competitors......you'll need at least 2 hands for this.

But besides all the whistles and bells, or horns and head tracking lets just look at what makes a great driving game......

Physics
Graphics
Sound
Cars
Tracks
Online

can anything on the ps3 or 360 beat GT5 on these fronts? Adsactly!

I've been away from the computer for a day and this thread has grown by about five pages, amazingly all featuring positive, I didn't think that would be possible but it's great this thread survives.

I've watched some of the new videos that have come out and the Photo Mode and Track Editor are better than I thought. Particularly the track editor, with it's ability to set parameters that the game uses to forumulate a track.

One of the things I wanted in a track was as big a straight as possible so I could put my foot down (virtually, at least) and see just what the cars could do in-game. I'm not sure that will be completely possible, but I'm going to try anyway when I get the game in nine days.

Photo Mode has more options than I thought it would too, not just locations but where in the location you want to take the picture and then where in that location within a location you want to take the picture, I really like that. Then you have whether you want the car's lights on or off and at what level you want them if they are on and what angle you want the car, visual camera effects and then, from rumour, you get to save them in various different resolutions.

This thread needs to continue. I've thought of bookmarking this thread and going straight here, rather than to the forum homepage because this is all I want to read.

+1 👍

Being one of those people that have owned 3 (soon to be 4) Alfas couldn't agree more! :D

Also the greatest styled cars are the ones that look great straight from the factory. If it looks bad at the start no amount of spray paint or bolt on body panels is going to be changing that.

See that's what I like about Gran Turismo - it doesn't need the bells and whistles. It's about purity of vision to produce the best driving game experience on the Playstation console. Now people whine and whinge about what's missing. Well simple if you don't understand what is the Gran Turismo vision and it doesn't tick all your boxes then simple go and buy something that does! As can be seen there are an avalanche of racers this gen to suit all tastes. In fact there has never been a better time to be a driving game fan we are spoilt for choice.

I think ultimately, I have to look at GT5P, I loved the racing online, despite a poorly integrated online. With a lot more cars and tracks to choose from, and a potentially very good online system, I have plenty of reason to beleive I will enjoy and play a lot of GT5.

The 3 biggest positives for me are (in order descending order of importance):

1. The online aspect
2. WRC
3. Weather

I always thought I was a huge GT fan, until I joined this forum. I have been a member of this forum for a year or more, but never posted much. IMHO, I think SOME people on here have analyzed this game to death, and thereby feel it has lost its 'wow factor'.

I read some of the news related to the game on the home page from time to time, but not every day, and now I feel as though I am one of very few people that is truly extremely excited about this game. Everything is new to me, and I can't wait for this game!

A big positive which is becoming more and more apparant is the improvement in engine sounds. The RS6 sounds great! Can't wait to drive (and hear) some more! Finally, PD seem to have made big improvements to this important area.

I've been away from the computer for a day and this thread has grown by about five pages.

Conversely, the threads that contain mass hate tend to grow by at least fifty to eighty pages per day.

People have a LOT of bad things to say about a game they haven't played nor touched.

I hate how everyone's criticizing GT5 when in reality they couldnt do any better. Plus GT5 has wayyy more good things than bad things in the game, They can be dissapointed when they get the game all they like, while I'm going to be enjoying it to the fullest.

Ther'es alot of people posting, so much so by the time you've read a page on some threads another one has apeared. In all this you get people trying to make a point, it gets lost in the many posts so they make it again but LOUDER! Then there are those who have to sensationalise everything they say to the extreme knowing this will get a reply....from "theres no capri in the game, I was hopeing there would be" It is posted as "No Capri in game, 80's Iconic car completly left out, what has PD done for 6 years the game is completly ruined for me!" Some people need a responce from others, they need to have some form of attention, an ego thing if you like, unfortunatly with the amount of post and other "ego" posts they tend to spout utter stupidness in an attempt to be heard. The less of a responce they get the louder they shout. Unfortunatly as time goes on there set to only shout louder.

The positive in all this? Well GT5 certainly evokes emotions from many people, would the same people get as defencive or offencive over say....leggo starwars? No, which just shows how big a title GT5 and that it has grabed alot of peoples attention.

But on a brighter note.....Spoiler below!!!!!

Well put. I see I'm not the only one who thinks there is naught but lunacy being wrought in this forum lately.

We can buy different horns? sounds like it's only for premiums, still, you have any links Hereward?

Am I the only one who is thinking that's great when people say "Its just a HD version of GT4". Thats what I want-GT4 was a great game and I played it to death and still play it now-seeing those graphics in HD really will be good enough for me and everything else is a bonus. When I booted up GT4 the other day after a long time away from it I was still impressed by the graphics, so a crisp HD version of that will suit me nicely.

hahaha yeah it's just pure ignorance on their part.... i can tell you there was a big difference between GT4 & GT5p when using the G27 wheel... GT5p is far more progressive/accurate to inputs.... the HD graphics are the icing on the cake... GT5 will be another big step up...and although i was initially disappointed with the tracks/some car selections/ommisions i realised i was just being a big baby.... when i saw that supra going around the ring at twilight i realised that this game is going to be incredible... especially on a 65inch plasma

Honestly I have not been this excited like this for a very long time, maybe since the mid 90's. I have been on this forum since the hype around GT5P and have had good and bad times with the people around here. When thinking about the wait for GT5 and knowing it around the corner has me so hyped. These next days are going to be super slow. GT5 as a whole game is looking very impressive, the new video's and photos look amazing. I am very pleased with the standards, from being in the Std vs Premium thread I have learned a lot from some members. The only thing that had me upset was the wheels and cockpit view. The premiums are amazing simply as that. No racing game that I have played can compare to these. 200+ of these will be a pleasure to drive  Cant wait to play GT5.

So glad this thread exists. I like not being the only person who is excited for this game and what it has to offer. Only a week away and I can't wait! I swear if Black Ops hadn't have come out last week I might have died lol.

Sometimes I feel like this when I read on this forum:

http://xkcd.com/810/

I will admit, I am not that impressed with the videos that Tekken posted of damage. I would also like more customization in terms of a livery editor, however, given everything else that is in the game, that is very little to complain about. People who complain about the lack of Premium cars make me sick. GT4 still looks good to this day, and the Standards in GT5 look even better. A course editor, and online capability? I think there is plenty to keep me interested for a long time coming...
