I dislike this comment. Like, I understand, but coming in to the pits, hitting the speed limiter, stopping in the box and taking off again, hitting the speed limiter on your way past the control line is a fantastic feeling in rFactor

We know that sim fan won't be happy about this, but personaly, I prefer animated pit stop with the A.I. driving then being able to drive in the pit with no animation. It is more immersive.

Couldn't you make it so that up to and past the control like for like 5m you are in control, then 5m before the exit control line you take over again? That way you still have to press the speed limiter button

That is a shame. While it isn't a major selling point it is a great immersive feature of most racing sims. I would have thought giving the player/host the option of automatic pit stops is the way to go. I can see some people who have perhaps only driven console racers before might not want to bother with pitstops but all the PC sims I have tried offer full control in pitstops. It would be good to know it is coming at some point even if not at launch. It could be an extra achievement/trophy to win.

All of these (2005-2014) I have tried have it
RFactor, RFactor 2, Game Stock Car Extreme, GTR2, iracing. I think Race 07 did too but am not 100% sure.

Right, and in all of them I/my club usually turn off manual driving in pits, it's too easy to exceed speed and better spend this time checking my glass or bottle ;)
I'm not against any option offering manual options, but there's a lot more important thing to do.

Does any of this titles offer endurance mode with interchangeable drivers behind wheel?

The point is that the pit crew is animated, therefore manual control would allow the player to drive into them. Manufacturer licenses do not allow any collisions with people. Even Midnight Club has pedestrians that miraculously leap out of the way at the last moment, and it's a Rockstar game -- it has licensed cars, unlike GTA. Automatic pit stops are probably the best solution, compared to having invisible walls in tight quarters or causing your crew to dive into the garage if you approach a little too fast.

I don't mind the automated pit. As others said I like to take a sip from my beverage, dry my sweaty hands, and shake out the tunnel vision while the AI takes over. Even if they allowed user control in the pits I'd opt for auto.

Other sims deal with it fine without "harming" their digitized pit crew. This is a sim too. From what I inderstand from others' posts the manual driving in pit feature is there now but will be automated upon release. That seems a retrograde step. I don't have the beta so haven't experienced Project Cars yet but I have other sims and driving in the pits is what Racing drivers do as part of the race. Remembering to engage the pit speed limiter is part of that. There could be an audio reminder from your engineer.

Pit stop options could be

1 Fully automated
2 Manual but automatic limiter
3 Full manual

I think that sums it up for me, let's be honest what does the driver do in the pits ?

Manual would cause much issues, since (I assume) the car must be stopped at exactly the right spot, otherwise animations don't work properly. Not really worth the time, compared to many other features included, which also require dev attention.

When I was doing it manually in GTR2, it was always something wrong. I either stopped too soon or to far and had to reverse onto the hotspot where pit would eventually engage.

Hello everyone, here's my latest video driving the Formula 3 car at Barcelona GP!

Just epic how you can stick your head out of the cockpit to admire the sidepods. I honestly had no idea that these VR sets would work that way 👍

I like everything nanual if it has the option and i think piting is part of racing as much as anything else cos you can gain or lose time just by making to the speed limit for the pit line, that said if the pit crew animations are better done and more real by the AI taking over im ok with that.

Reduce speed at exactly the right time to be at the speed limit at the control line and press the speed limiter button, drive in the pit, avoid other putting cars pulling in and out of their boxes, line up to their teams box precisely stopping on the marks so the pit crew are in the correct locations for the stop, pull out of the pits without stalling or hitting other cars in the lane, and finally press the limiter at the right place on the way out.

It's a pretty busy time.

To keep it as realistic as possible the only time you can really have a drink or get yourself comfortable is when you are in neutral at the box when the car is in the air.

Wow ! Well that proved me wrong I'll stick to having a drink I think haha.

That's a pint of ale. It's worth putting in extra fuel if you want to take on board another one. I need a pit app to add in the beer intake factor. Lager drinkers need longer due to the extra fizz.

Hi
New video showing the effecto rain with ultra graphics to appreciate the high quality of the reflections and water.

a greeting

Does the car get slower when you drive directly through that water on the track? Or are these just only textures without any effect?

Just checked out the video but I have mix feelings on Bathurst. Do you think they have the elevation correctly represented in game?
Looks correct to me. You have to remember that being on the track or just watching a video of a car on track make a misconception of elevation. It not until you look at it from the outside or a different direction that the elevation looks clear.

When you are used to an track in an game, it is almost impossible to play a version that is different. For me, it is Nordschleife on GT4,5,6. I am so used to it, it is impossible for me to play the Snoopy Mod for Assetto Corsa for example. Also Suzuka for example. I immediately feel it when even one corner is innacurate/different to the version I am used to.
