Do bear in mind though tuning settings etc with these sorts of things

And yes, more pcar vids, loving your thinking :)

Really awesome vid I watched earlier

:bowdown::bowdown::bowdown::bowdown::bowdown:

I can only pray that the Xbox One graphics are anywhere close to this, although I am worried that they'll have to downgrade it so much that all these videos I'm seeing will make me somewhat disappointed when I see it. Either way, love it and can't freaking wait!

It should be the same as ps4 which itself is equivalent to high pc settings

If they can pull it off with using high settings on consoles, I'll be impressed. I'm running my PC at mostly high (with a few things on ultra), but with a high level of AA, and I can keep it at around 60 FPS and above but I've got a PC that costs 5 times as much as a console. I have to say, at high the game looks great, so if they can do it people will be happy. I think some more sacrifices will need to be made. Consoles were running outdated hardware on release and they are not getting faster.

I have watched a lot of Project Cars videos in the last two years, but this one takes the friggin' cake. Anyone who has any interest in sim racing or racing games in general and owns a PS4/XBone or good pc and doesn't get this on day 1, should never be allowed to make a forum post on the subject of sim racing ever again. That same person should check themselves into an institution for the mentally insane, that video is that good, and you'd have to be legally insane not to buy it if you have the means and the system to play it on. It is no exaggeration for me to say that is the most stunning video from a videogame I've ever seen:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

I wasn't really that impressed. Driveclub is far superior graphically, and Assetto Corsa is far superior mechanically, and the Forzas and GTs of the world have many more cars, features, and customizability. I do like the track diversity and general lighting effects, but things like rain and other particle effects are really subpar now. Project cars is in a weird place for me....and I can't say I'm interested in buying it.

Its the freaking lighting..when the ass end of the cars in front start braking and turning in, it literally looks like I'm watching a real life vid.

It is scary how photo realistic the game play looks. I'm right there with you, best vid I have seen ever.

Its got the perfect balance between a sharp image and the right amount of "real life" blurriness.

Then Don't !

Driveclub looks great, yes, but it only has 12 cars at 30fps. 60fps and 3 times the number of cars should (hopefully) make you forgive SMS for not having the best looking droplets on the PS4.

Mechanically, have you been able to try both games by yourself or are you basing your affirmation on other people's reports? I haven't so I will decide what I think about it once I've tried it.

As for the customisability/features, what is more important for you? The colour and height of a rear wing? A carbon looking bonnet? Being able to hand over the best part of a driving game, the driving, to the AI? Being able to put F1 grade tyres on a 30 years old Civic?

OK the game doesn't have as many cars as GT and Forza. And I'm not in the camp that says "anyway, we only drive half a dozen cars" because I love driving plenty of different (and old) cars.
But you can't blame SMS for not trying with what they have.

Let's decide if we like it once we tried it.

yeah, the rain effects in Driveclub are great but i find it's really hard to see the road when driving in the rain in cockpit view. for me, Project CARS hits a nice balance of still having good-looking weather effects but with the added bonus of being able to actually drive in them. the real-world circuit layouts also help with this immensely, Driveclub can be a little crazy in this regard.

all i know is that come April i'll probably never put the Driveclub disc back in my PS4 ever again.

I just tried Driveclub for the first time with my T300. I'm really shocked how unexciting and lame that gameplay is, apart from the hilariously laughable FFB, the mushy sounds and the low res textures all around the cars.

Assetto Corsa is far superior mechanically

I really like AC a lot, but this statement is puzzling tbh. The tire model is much less complex in comparison, the FFB too and has some canned effects in it, the setups in AC often have nothing to do with the real car and AC doesnt even simulate basic stuff like brake heat/wear/fade. So what exactly is it, that is far superior in your opinion?

PS @ blowfish: Nah come on, thats an equally puzzling statement. *ninja'd*

Driveclub was my first experience with a decent racing wheel and i was pretty impressed, but if you're used to PC sims then yes, i guess it's not that realistic. still fun to be had though, if you can put up with the rubber-banding and lack of customisation.

What?!

Everything else I can understand coming from a simulator viewpoint.

Okay, let me specify: it's not the textures itself but that motion blur i really dont like. It makes things....blurry.

And about AC: I have never seen any explaination giving actual substance to the statement "AC has better physics". I'm certainly happy to learn more about the "superior" physics engine of Assetto Corsa. Until then, i don't even bother to call BS on those opinions, it's just pointless.

Hi
New comparison of Project CARS Vs Assetto Corsa at the Italian circuit of Monza with Pagani Huayra Beautiful.

greeting

I prefer how PCARS looks and the cars look to handle very similarly on both

Watch from 3:20 - 3:45 especially. I've never seen such realistic looking transition behavior from any game. The way the weight transfers and the car slips in between oversteer and understeer is absolutely uncanny in my opinion. Everything feels so damn fluid. To me, simulating brake fade is not really important. Carbon brakes in real life mitigate this anyway, and my pedal setup sucks so I wouldn't be able to tell anyways. pCars feels like a heavily upgraded version of NFS shift to me. There is something very strange about weight transfer, it doesn't quite feel right to me.

Bonus vids, make sure to watch all of them at 60fps

The behavior at the limit of the Lotus 49 is just beautiful.

Edit: I'd like to see proof that AC's tire model is inferior to pCars. It seems to be hailed as one of the most innovative, and it was built from scratch, not using Pacejka.

All I'm saying is that people should give AC a try. It's absurdly fun to toss a good car around a good track....and with the laser scanned Nurburgring coming eminently....

This is not a pcars vs AC (or any other title for that matter) thread, so please stop making it that.

If you want to discuss comparisons then either take it to an existing thread on comparisons our start one.

Any further off topic discussion will be removed.

It's also the freaking details!!! It seems like they left no stone unturned when modeling the tracks. Laguna Seca at the end has so much going on around the track I didn't recognize it at first:embarrassed:. It feels and looks so alive and for me it's always one of those tracks that felt dead and empty on other games. The crowds, the flags, the service vehicles, even when you look off in the distance it looks like every tree is individually modeled up on the ridge behind the main grandstand as opposed to the generic forest you sometimes see in games. It's going to be like a whole new track:eek::eek::eek:. The other tracks were the same, the crowd looks vibrant and colourful, flags are waving, service vehicles beside the track, the standing crowd in the grassy area. The shot entering the first corner at Dubai was crazy, the buildings look so real in the evening:eek::eek:.

looks stunning, and when they fix the water spray appearing in the cockpit it'll look even better!

My is pc slightly less powerful than the ps4 but i can run everything on high without AA and still get 50 fps on an amd setup in traffic.

I'm running DS2X for AA, so yeah it's going to affect frame rate. In heavy rain and 30+ cars on the grid I drop into the high 40s on some tracks (like spa).
