Both are not ok.
Edit: that is per SMS logic. My thought is the tracks have been shown many times already and people don't read the forums, so you get the following situation where even Rene Rast doesn't follow the rules.

Please axplain.

Yeah, it's not good either. But there is a difference, the other one can be seen as a meaningful advertisement for the track. The other is just a breach of something that has been agreed on.

It's life.. it's not always black and white.

The above is purely just my personal thoughts btw.

And then, there is the clear sign of intent. Ak1504 (and I'm not even going to refer to the fact that the build is most likely a pirate one) was asked to take it down, what we got as an answer was basically "**** you".

If Rene would be asked to take down the vid, what you think would happen? And I know for sure it's a legit build.

So you see no difference? No one can help you.

I too wondered why one was considered ok , I can see why if the the other one is pirated .
I think it was a genuine question tho so ease up

Why is the track even in the game if they are trying to get permission for it to be in the game, under its actual name?

surely you'd wait until all your ducks are in a row, no?.

Has anyone asked Rene to alter the title of his vid?

I get that. But why not test it in-house, if there is a licensing issue?.

Maybe it's to do with the fact everyone has different pc's and so the developers want the game testing on as many of these as possible. Again I'm just guessing. They also get feedback about what people want in the game and what needs improving from a many people as possible.

You know what, this is as much a learning experience for SMS as it is for the supporters. There always was going to be issues like this. I'm just sad every time the community is not up to the task of knowing what is free to share and what is not. Just because being with wmd has been an amazing journey to see how games are actually made. That could easily change and more and more stuff would be hidden behind closed doors.

sure they could keep everything uncertain hidden. It wouldn't be the best way Imo and it would be a bit sad. . The backers just need to understand that this is not a regular game dev.

I agree with you. Just seems a bit... I'm not sure really, bit awkward? To have it all made up a ready to go before having permission. More so to release it too the public (albeit a very private collection of the public), knowing it being out there for all to see might affect the final outcome of having to ask permission.

I can see both sides of the coin though.

I guess it's more to do with the length of time it takes to develop a track. So better to get work started before an official licence is announced, so as to get a head start.

I remember someone from SMS saying that it's not uncommon to get the final licensing deals in the box just weeks before release. So I think that this is normal for SMS, what is not normal is that we the people get to see whats going on during the development.

that video is supposed to be the ps4 version. but dont quote me on that! ;)

cockpit cam starts around 12:07 min.!

Nice comparison. Pretty much the only difference is the grass behavior, which is known within WMD. Not sure if they will modify it for release, but they may. Otherwise sounds like the games are the same, so console guys will be happy.
Brands hatch is laser scanned in pcars, so it's more accurate. That was his only other major difference.

Also the default car setup will cause some difference most probably. The problem he's having with the rears locking up is the same as I'm always having. The first thing I usually do in iRacing is moving the brake balance more forward to avoid that. I bet he would have been a lot closer to his PCars laptimes by doing just that adjustment. With all of the community feedback, I suspect that the default setup in PCars is also working pretty well out of the box, which isn't the case on iRacing.

A great comparison nonetheless. It gives me a much better view on how the handling compares to something I'm familiar with.
