Rain weather comparison between Project CARS and F1 2014. The video is a lap at Hockenheim GP with the Formula A in Project CARS (Williams Martini skin) and the 2014's Williams FW36 in F1 2014.

 I've got to admit, F1 2014 looks stunning in the wet. Almost photo-realistic. They've nailed the right amount of mist and blur, imo.
PCARS' image, while still gorgeous, is a bit too clear for the conditions, if that makes sense.

Also remember.. the default setups are not (sadly imo) made for the absolute best laptime. Some things have needed to be adjusted to be a bit more approachable for pads (diff for example on many cars) .. No worries though, once you get a proper setup pcars does feel a lot more "on the edge"..

Are the default settings a little understeery when you get close to the limit?

You think?! Rain droplets not moving when having a speed of 140?! I do like Pcars rain more. Plus: I can see the track.

Sure, DC nailed it down. But it's arcady in every aspect.

Makes it look like a hovercraft

This test is with the camera a bit more loose to show the weight transfer under braking/accel. A side effect of that is the camera is more floaty as a result.

This test also has speed shake disabled, which doesn't help. I'm working on a custom shake setting. If you click on the gfycat link you can see the mockup of what I'm going for. Appreciate the feedback though. I'll try another test with it more rigid on the X axis.

i found this video purely focusing on the tuning setup side of things. although interesting, i just wanted to point out to any WMD members of the spelling mistake @ 3:34 where 'corners' is mis-typed as 'corenrs' under the "Slow & Fast Bumps" description. please feedback and ask for more general proof-reading before release. i'd say there's some questionable grammar here and there too.

replay sound isn't all that, they're missing the tenacity of a race car ripping by. the Doppler effect isn't even there.

What doppler effect? The relative speed between two vehicles traveling in the same direction is minuscule. How well do you expect to detect a frequency difference of 50hz? (just a guess, could do the math if I felt it was worth the time. I worked sonar for 10 years as an acoustics expert) On more than one occasion I've seen people complain about lack of doppler in videos that realistically wouldn't have any noticeable doppler effect in any case. The only time you should really be hearing doppler effect if is you are at a stationary point while a car approaches and flies by you at speed. Reminds me a little too much of people complaining about car handling not being realistic enough because it's not hard enough when they've never even driven a real car at close to the performance envelope in any of these racing sims and therefore have no actual basis or legitimacy to their complaint. Don't mean to attack or demean, just saying.

i'm talking about replay and not game play. game play sound is fantastic, i actually like it. now replay needs some work. it doesn't have that right sound elements to it. the tone is all pretty much the same. the exhaust doesn't sound any more louder or lively, especially the second the car passes the camera.

This is what I mean:

I'm not really sure if I'm allowed to link to races on youtube. But the sound in Pcars of an entire grid of cars flying past is actually better than some television coverage audio.

I was going to post a couple examples, but I'm really not too clued in on the rules. Still new here 👍

I could only assume that you were referring to the most recent video which was posted. At no point during which did a car "pass" the camera in such a way as to create noticeable doppler. If you were perhaps referring to a different PCARS video then I would have to see that particular video in order to have an opinion on the matter. Perhaps you are correct, I wouldn't know :) The video you posted is also of a completely different car than the recent PCARS video so without a more accurate comparison I have trouble finding merit to your complaint. It sounds good to me, and certainly better than any other console offering.

This video is in Russian but it contains what appears to be some PS4 footage. Looks to be the same build as the XboxAcheivements.com video.

I can speak Russian. They didn't say anything new. Also not sure if this is ps4 footage, they didn't specify, but based on graphics it could be. They say driving is real nice and all cars feel unique. It's a decent video for someone who doesn't know anything about pCARS but for most of you guys it's boring. Their expected raining is 9.0

Drivers hand animation still wrong in PCars. Wont' change until release I guess :(

This is the Video Thread, of course you can link to Races seen on YT.

René Rast is a German racing driver and has competed in the Porsche Supercup and Formula BMW ADAC, oh and he just happened to win the Nürburgring 24 Hours in 2014 so it’s fair to say he knows how to race.

He recently shared a Project CARS gameplay video where he took the Mercedes Benz 190E Evo2 DTM to the legendary Nürburgring track.

A few people over at N4G doesn't don't seem to understand that the driver (Rast) made a mistake when entering the turn where he stuffs it into the wall (5:43 in the video).

Where did I say it makes the "whole game invalid"? Hand animation ist wrong (0:40), that's a fact and I'm allowed to criticize it.
Still dont know why you think the animation is wrong? He has to embrace his right hand at a steering angle of 180° otherwise he would probably broke his wrist (yes, I know more degrees are possible irl!)... theres different techniques for steering, so only because its not the way you'd steer doesnt make it a less correct animation ;)
