New PS4 footage

reading the comments on this video is painful. people complaining there's not enough cars, or that it's not Driveclub, or how SMS suck because they're charging for new cars etc... winds me up. can't people just accept a game for what it is?

I really hope this game scores highly so these narrow-minded so-and-so's might reconsider their opinions.

I'd rather ignore them in a youtube video's comment section, than have to mute them in a Project Cars lobby.

I have to laugh when Project Cars is compared to the likes of Drive Club, Forza, and GT. This seems to be the sim/game that Race Pro should have been. I can't wait to see this in person.

Nice Video! Any chance you could let us know the difficulty settings of the AI, it looked like a really good challenge for you:D

90%. Though I think the AI are a bit slower in the Karts than other classes at the moment.

Xbox controller, AI 100%

That video is a bit worrysome, tbh. :nervous:
I feel you shouldn't be able to plow through the whole field in a couple of laps at 100%. Granted, the driving was really good (especially if you consider that he used a controller), but it leaves a bitter taste in my mouth.
I really hope they haven't dumbed down the AI on consoles, so that the mouth breathers don't whinge about not being able to beat the game at the most difficult setting.

just because he's using an xbox controller doesn't mean this is xbox footage, so this is surely still PC gameplay.

It's PC, it's mentioned in the description of the vid. Can someone also point me to where it says the AI is 100%? Couldn't find it.

Nowhere in the description of that video it says that the AI is at 100%. Also, there's no detail on which assists he was using, or whether this was a career mode race where the AI is dumbed down in the lower tiers.

So yeah, not much to go by I'm afraid...

The guy driving is one of the Alien Drivers over at WMD and uses a custom car setup. Video was meant to be showing improvements on gamepad support, which is WiP, as well as the AI is.

Why is the ai dumbed down in lower tiers ? I would only describe myself as an average racer so I imagine and hope the Ai will present a great challenge at all tiers .
Looks great though , really looking forward to driving the BAC Mono .

Lower tiers, lower talent... at a guess.

I know this is not an ideal comparison but if I choose to start in league 2 on FIFA with say Bury I wouldn't expect to be beating Wimbledon easily just because it's a lower tier / league I would still expect a good contest !

I've complained about the "dumbing down" part for a while, but so far no-go for any changes to this from the devs :( I think it's not only at lower tiers, I think it's based on the amount of races (a few first races AI difficulty is lowered by 10% of your selected level, so if you set it to 80%, it will actually be 72%). So you can bump up AI difficulty for the first few races to offset that, then lower it down.

Yeah I'll try raising it , it sounds strange but I'll be disappointed if I win !

As the AI level can be fully customized, I don't understand why they do that either. Lower tiers doesn't necessarily mean slower or less talented drivers, they're just more at the beginning of their career. For the faster drivers, this design decision takes the fun away from the game in the lower tiers of the career. If they leave it out, they'll please everyone as they can tinker with the AI difficulty level anyway.

That's my point as well. It's a "hidden" feature and doesn't make sense to me and a lot of people. Still, so far they didn't say they will change this. I'm still trying though.
