That's my point as well. It's a "hidden" feature and doesn't make sense to me and a lot of people. Still, so far they didn't say they will change this. I'm still trying though.

Keep on fighting :gtpflag:

If it turns out to be an issue after the release and lots of people complain about too easy lower tiers, maybe they'll turn around anyway.

All it means for me is if it's to easy even set at 100 which I hope it isn't I'll skip them tiers
Again, I'm pretty sure it's not tier related but the amount of races related. I can't say that with 100% certainty because the devs message wasn't clear, but that's how I interpreted it.

Exactly. That's the argument I was trying to make.

My solution was to add a GUI option for it, so everyone would be happy, but I know any GUI changes take some extra coding to do, so I highly doubt they will make it for a release.

Only watched the first lap then skimmed the rest but that AI looks fantastic:tup: Makes a difference too if you drive like a real racer like Yorkie does, and not barge your way through other cars.

Yes, the Spa video also looks pretty impressive :-)

Yes this is something I can confirm too. As soon as you treat the AI like another human racedriver and not like rolling obstacles the whole experience suddenly becomes much more realistic. Especially when you can resist the urge to divebomb them in every second corner and stick to realistic overtaking moves.

I'm fine with the way the AI looks, even at 100%. I plan on playing with full damage/failures/tire wear on longer races. A lot of these videos (not all) that have guys pushing their way to the front don't have damage on and would probably not get anywhere near completing their race if they did.

If I can go from last to first in a full sim race then maybe I'll worry about the AI difficulty.

The guy driving is one of the Alien Drivers over at WMD and uses a custom car setup. Video was meant to be showing improvements on gamepad support, which is WiP, as well as the AI is.
Anyone thinking of playing this game with a controller should be ecstatic with that video. 👍

I found the same thing in Grid Autosport. Lots of people complaining about the AI and how aggressive they were and I had very few issues once I started racing like I would in an online race. I don't think anyone outside of arcade games, programs their AI to deal with players wanting to simply barge through to the front, they are designed from the ground up with the assumption that you want to simulate an actual race. The Empty Box video showed that as well, where he had the opportunity several times to make a high risk, questionable overtake on the AI car in front of him and he backed off instead.

I've noticed that he locks up the wheels a couple of times. Can you damage the tires while locking up hard, and if so, do you get realistic vibrations for the rest of the stint?

Flat spots are simulated physically, yes. I don't know if you can feel it through the FFB though (I bought my first FFB wheel just a week ago). You also can get punctures from abusing your tyres.

Looking forward to watching those new videos! I'm definitely looking for a serious challenge in Project CARS - I want race wins to be savoured and championships to be revelations!

Exactly! Finally I will get to see how good of a racer I actually am! :D

Yea, I have to echo this as well:

As long as you try to be fair to AI and don't try to overtake them unfairly, they are pretty well behaved. And they are quite fast as well, I'm an average driver but 78% difficulty is where I'm at difficulty wise, if I want a very close race. I think AI races are much more satisfying than online for me. No need to wait for a race, they don't try to crash into you on purpose, you can match them to your skill level and they are fun to race against.

I agree with all of your statement, but wanted to bring the point out even more. Online racing is so fickle. You must rely on the stars to align perfectly and find 10+ others who meet these exact requirements in order for it to happen:

1) connection speed must be optimal with low ping numbers for all involved.
2) everyone must agree and be available at the exact same time.
3) everyone must agree and want to race on the exact same track.
4) everyone must agree and want to race the exact same class of car.
5) everyone must agree and want to race the exact same racing regulations.
6) everyone must agree and be very close to the exact same skill level.

And even if you get all 6 of those, there is still a chance the Online race will fail.

Ya, thats why it is important to actually have strictly organized and sanctioned online races. Races must start at the same time, every time, every day. You need a reputation system to punish you for rage quitting or ramming other players and give you gains for behaving reasonably....the list goes on and you will end up pretty much with what iRacing has established.

This also means discipline and technical effort from the hosts, privately organized leagues can provide such infrastructure for any racing game that actually comes with a MP option.

However, it's not really my style, since i don't want to organize my RL around virtual races and i'm not really inclined to put the hours in to be competitive.

iRacing knows it's shortcomings in the offline space and figured that their worldwide just 55k subscribers have to pay top dollar to keep the service up and running.

Pretty awesome driving (that Porsche Curves bit is really impressive). I'm also glad to see that La Chapelle corner finally got crowd and grand stands.

Looks fantastic however am i right in saying the fuel gauge on the dash wasn't working as it showed 40.0 and the one in the corner was working ?

At least there's time to get that sorted, now. Please forward our thoughts on the matter, hopefully the devs will pick it up to soften us regarding the latest delay! 👍
