I found the same thing in Grid Autosport. Lots of people complaining about the AI and how aggressive they were and I had very few issues once I started racing like I would in an online race. I don't think anyone outside of arcade games, programs their AI to deal with players wanting to simply barge through to the front, they are designed from the ground up with the assumption that you want to simulate an actual race. The Empty Box video showed that as well, where he had the opportunity several times to make a high risk, questionable overtake on the AI car in front of him and he backed off instead.
I agree (racing like you would online or IRL). Those that turn damage off and play bumper cars may find the AI too easy but then they should actually be playing a different game. The AI should be suited to racing clean with damage enabled.

Nürburgring Nordschleife comparison of graphics and sound between Project CARS (Build 953) and Assetto Corsa (Dream Pack & v1.1). The video is a lap at "The Green Hell" with the McLaren P1™ hypercar in both.

I like the sound better in AC also the lights on the car are vastly superior looking! Can hardly see them in PCars.

Why no graffiti on track in PCars?

I'm not sure about the sound. This is a video where you need a real life P1 video to compare the sound because the difference between pCars and AC is obvious.

The McLaren P1 has been signed off by McLaren, so if they weren't happy with it, it would have been adjusted. Secondly, with the license officially been announced, it should be reskinned.

Going to be hard seeing brake lights when racing though if that's how dim they are.

After watching that vid, I actually prefer the Project CARS version over AC's lasered version... there's more track detail texture and it's narrower...

How, if AC's version is lasered, can it be that wide? Looks way too wide. :odd:

It's the FOV issue that is discussed in the other thread.

I figured it would be... can't really decide what's better without actually playing them I know.

But from that vid, I do like the texture PCars version has. Looks great.

The thing that strikes me about the Nordschleife video is how close the two sims are, laser scanned track or not. I'm talking physics, how the cars move and react, how the tracks look etc. As I've said numerous times in the GT Forum, in the next gen all the best games are going to look very similar, aka kickass, with only minor differences here and there, but they will all look great and sound great. It's going to come down to physics, gameplay and FFB and both AC and PCars look like winners to me.

AC is much more accurate.

You showed a video with sound from the cockpit, not from a camera floating behind the exhaust pipe. If anything your video proves the sound in AC may not be accurate unless the car sounds exactly the same in the cockpit as it does hovering in the air behind the car as in @Adrianf1's video, which is not very likely.

Sounds a little different from the outside. Skip to 3:12:

That all depends on what exactly you're looking for. I'm excited about Project CARS because I want a game that allows me to put myself experience the highs and lows of a career in motorsport - great physics will be a bonus.

I was an iRacing member for a number of years and loved the racing, but discontinued my membership when my work schedule changed and I didn't have as much time to race, meaning that practice becamexa chore and maiing races a nightmare. In Project CARS, I see the potential for a genuine motorsport that is challenging, yet still enjoyable - and that's going to be awesome.

Also, this post has reminded me that I have a copy of GTR2 somewhere at home...I know what I'm doing during the delay!

What DG_Silva said. Plus, the Ring is actually wider than most people think. It's just narrow compared to most other racetracks.

They both look great to me. If I was to nit pick, I'd say the road texture looks overdone on pcars, where ac looks very realistic, the shadows and lighting look spot on in ac, could mistake it for a real video at times, where pcars is slightly behind it in that regard, but the tail lights look very unrealistic on ac, as do the flames out the exhaust, where pcars has the taillights looking very nice indeed.

As I said, that's nitpicking. There really isn't that much difference at all. Both look amazing!

I kinda liked the chase cam in the AC vid - at least as a replay, was thinking the variable cam distance might be a pain during actual gameplay though. Never played AC so I don't know how it is when playing, still looks better than GT's chase cam regardless.

True, I haven't actually used a chase cam since, oh I don't know, maybe Pole Position on the Atari 65E back in the day.

I used cockpit cam way back in in f1 world grand prix for n64 lol. Before that I used chase cam, for maybe mario kart and some other old games.

Edit* Actually no, my first cockpit cam was Stunt Car Racer on Commodore!!! Anyone remember that one??? :D

I prefer to use cockpit cam, but I also swap to chase cam as desired. It's useful to get a better vantage point for what's ahead, and with any game as pretty as this it's a shame to not spend some time driving from the outside. ;)

i do! and that F1 game and its sequel on N64 were actually pretty decent games. still remember the wing settings, going down to 10/10 or 10/15 was insane. probably looks like utter crap now though lol

I agree, I ran Nords last night in both AC and pCARS. pCARS looks night and day better - more track and environmental objects, much more detail, and the latest pCARS build is performing very well (very smooth with good FPS). It hard to see the difference in the comparison video. The FFB and physics are good in both but I'm starting to lean towards pCARS, I wouldn't have said that even a month ago.
Note, AC v1.1 is running very well performance wise but it almost looks like they reduced the graphical quality to do so. Not a bad thing for those with lower end PC's.

Note, I run AC with most every graphics setting at High or Max, in pCARS I can't run at max with triple screen and a single GTX980 but it looked SOOO good at the settings I can run. From video's you never can tell what is being used, you got to see it in person.
pCARS will be worth the wait!!!

Those f1 games on 64 were so far ahead of their time. They had features that racing games these days are boasting lol. They had full damage, which was half decent, you could damage your wings to varying degrees, you could bend a wheel, or break the suspension, you could also damage you gearbox and engine, and there were random engine failures too!

It had a full variable weather system, where the track would slowly get wetter, requiring inters and then full wets, then as the rain stopped the track would slowly dry out. It also had full set ups of the cars, and a bunch of views to choose from, including the roll hoop cam and drivers eye cam.

You are right though, it looks terrible by today's standards lol. Being a 64 game, it's incredibly blurry. I have no idea how I used to be able to see where I was going. I do remember back then I thought it had some of the best graphics of it's time though lol. It was also the first game I ever raced at spa francorchamps, and it had the old hockenheimring!

That's what I find pathetic about how developers claim it's too difficult to pull off those features today. It's not entirely the developer's fault, either, with all the pressure from consumers to prioritize graphics over everything else.
