About the option to swap driver in PCars....

How cool it would be if we could swap drivers on a online game?

I'm playing a endurance racing and i can go the the pits and let a friend drive my car and while he is driving in his own home/pc/console, i could watch him or just relax for sometime... it will be reaaaally cool!!:bowdown:
Online driver swaps are not easy to do. However they do have it on a list of things they want to implement in the future.

Simple, if the video has lots of Japanese characters, or contains something we haven't discussed, just double check with one of the WMD guys here; myself, FLX, Dr Justice or Logiforce are all members, and we'll be only too happy to help. If something looks iffy, just check with us.

Some videos will look obviously suspicious indeed, some are less obvious unfortunately. For instance I wasn't aware earlier on, that Nordschleife videos were not permitted.
I'm all for rules to prevent leaks, but they need to be clear for non wmd members.

As far as I'm concerned (as a non-WMD member) if a video is on Youtube it is not my responsibility to know whether or not it's "legal". It's that persons responsibility and up to the proper people to get it removed.

Guys, please don't think we are hating on you for showing these videos, it's not your fault you don't know what you can and can't show. But equally, we can't tell you what you can and can't show, in public, if you understand. At WMD, we try a hell of a lot to get videos removed as much as we can. The biggest issue is the fragility of the licenses, even ones apparently signed, crossed 't's and dotted 'i's, and we don't really want to risk those. While you, the fans, love information and videos, the WMD members have money invested in this, in some cases on these forums, thousands of Euros, and we can't really afford to lose that, or have the game flop for the sake of a few people ruining it. Don't worry, those who threaten it will be caught.

...want to implement in the future...
How dare you using that kind of language...on this site...with its traumatized and broken members?!?
Have you no decency, sir? Haven't we suffered enough? :grumpy:

Let the record show that I hereby officially request, the words "soon" and "future" to be banished for all of eternity from this fine site so its people can keep what's left of their sanity.

Sure, no, wasn't thinking that :) . I was just trying to see what would be suitable guidelines to non-WMD members about sharing stuff they found on youtube.

Don't worry about it. As @DG_Silva already pointed out, you can't know and we can't (always) tell. So just post whatever you find and if it's something fishy, we'll take action, shout out, contact a mod or all of the above. If you have suspicions yourself, just ask. :)

In this particular video, Project CARS has the upper hand IMO, but it's hard to compare in this video because of the lighting conditions and I also think FOV is off. Not one of the greatest comparison videos I've seen to be honest.

I think Alan is the first guy who gets it. It's forgiving enough that you can concentrate on your race craft and on the position and actions of your opponents. Yet you still need to worry not to overdo it.

I watched Jay's (ex-Inside Sim Racing) video on the Lotus 49 at Monza on iRacing after this one of Team VVV. I laughed at how bad the physics were for that car on that track. Especially the tyre physics were really unrealistic, which caused the car to do all kind of weird movements.

I know that David Kaemmer (iRacing) and Doug Arnou (Project CARS) have both worked on car handling for the famous Grand Prix Legends. Doug was always the guy who wanted more grip in GPL in a sensible way, but David didn't agree.
Now when I see our Lotus 49 against iRacing I feel that Doug's interpretation is definitely the better one.

Here's the 'offtopic' video of Jay I am talking about:

Put another year delay and maybe PCars will be close to this:

Nah, that's more like Project CARS 2. I don't see an increase in polygons for this release of Project CARS.
Besides that... even quad Nvidia Titan X won't be able to render that at 60 FPS yet. So hardware wise we are a good 3 to 5 years in the future for sure, and even than I have my doubts.

Also this needs a far improved version of the Oculus Rift... of which the first version isn't even released yet. The thing is you need a extremely high pixel density to have a nice retina liking experience. Also maybe 120 FPS would be a must... which takes me back to my earlier remark on the Titan X. ;)

That said... cool video! :gtpflag:

I mean the physics not graphics

No, it will not be up till that quality. It's too much of a CPU drain. So it definitely won't be something for this generation of consoles. Maybe with the next generation of CPU's for the PC, which means you need to give people ample time to upgrade their PC (5 years ish).

So it won't be a thing of now, but we will get closer I think. The considerable jump forward will be with a pCARS 2 if anything, which will coincide with the hardware upgrades/improvements that are executed by the people/made available by manufacturers.

Besides that we are not talking about just tyre physics improvement, but also that of chassis physics and suspension physics. Not forgetting maybe first on basic real-time aero physics calculations to name a new area to conquer on a physics level.

Nah... it won't be as real as real-life YET. :sly:

Some users here and there are mentioning Pcars2 over and over again! I don't get it. Pcars isn't released yet and people start talking about part 2! Sure there are things that can't be done in Pcars but I don't get that "future talk". Seems to me like people are getting greedy or something like that. Be thankful for what we get these days... Ok, mid May it is. Hope you get what I mean.

A nice touch that in PCars the buildings have interior lighting. Those small details really make things come alive.

The thing that concerns me is that every other racing Game/Sim has more "tire squeal sound effect” than Project Cars. I know any tire will make noise when pushed hard into corners.

I never noticed..until you pointed it out:mad: It does seem rather quiet, hopefully there is a slider for it because I like my tire noise to be rather loud. It conveys a great deal of information about what the car is doing if it's done right:cheers:

Now that you talk about it.... I have to check the gp videos again but for now, you have a point.
