That's cross buy, its not the same as cross play.......

Cross play = Vita vs PS3 gaming
Cross buy = One purchase both games
Cross Controller = using Vita as a second screen with PS3

It is safe to assume it will be the download version only via code.

Hilarious, I am making the mistake now myself.

Indeed Cross Buy it is.

‘Metal Gear Rising skipping PS Vita due to lack of power’ – Kojima Productions
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance isn’t being considered for a PS Vita launch, according to Kojima Productions creative producer Yuji Korekado. The reason? – It can’t handle the game’s free cut blade mode.

Speaking with Eurogamer at gamescom last week, Korekado explained, “As of now we aren’t considering a Vita version. The reason is one of the main appeals of Metal Gear Rising is this option of the free cut.”

“That requires a lot of hardware power, which is only possible with the power of a PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360. So as of now, we haven’t contemplated bringing it to handheld consoles,” he added.

Free cut is powerful however, allowing players to slash through almost anything but buildings at will, which does require a great deal of hardware grunt, so Korekado’s comments make sense.

VG247 also interviewed Korekado about Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance at gamescom, and learned more about why Platinum Games was brought on board.

This is not even ordinary MGS. It’s like Bayonetta with MGS breed. And seeing games like MGS: HD, Unit13, Uncharted, Gravity Rush, etc – yes, Vita can handle even Skyrim with dumbed down graphics.

As this project seems to be made in a modified version of MGS4′s engine, it was rather clear that it would be too much work to optimise it for the Vita.
The Fox Engine, on the other hand, and future Koji Pro games may come for the Vita.

Thanks Marco. I'm trying to find confirmation on a European release for Madden vita.

As it stands there's no demo this side of the pond but no confirmed or denied release.

Can't see any euro stockist list it either.

If anyone gets info please post up. Thanks.

Vita not powerful enough?

http://www.vg247.com/2012/08/21/met...vita-due-to-lack-of-power-kojima-productions/

Hasn't sold enough it seems to me? Hmmm.

I watched a video of that feature and I can see what they are saying. I'd imagine it takes up a lot of space and memory to have every object in a play area able to be slashed. While the Vita is powerful, there are games out there that tax the PS3 and the PS3 is still more powerful. I would definitely imagine this to be one of them.

Crysis 3 is happening on console....... Yet Consoles weren't powerful enough for Crysis....

"PS1 doesn't have the ram to handle Quake 1".... Quake 2 is released on PS1 and was a good chopped up full port.

If they want to make it work they can but they don't want to waste resources on it.

TBH I'm not too bothered about the MGR situation. I would probably end up buying the console version anyhow. However it was once confirmed for Vita at one time. During a trailer it was announced as coming for Vita.

I'll try to find link.

Here goes.

Question for you guys.

I have both 8 and 16 gig cards.
Question is when using 2 cards on 1 account is there anything to look our for.
I've used google and not found much. Most questions are based around trying to get 2 accounts across multiple cards.
I'm interested in using both cards on one account. (bit of a pain).
I'll probably drop on the 32g when prices drop a bit.

Problem is I never owned a PSP and the back catalogue is raping me lol. Nice problem to have.
One of the reasons I pulled the trigger was the psp angle. Tactics ogre is amazing. Persona 3 portable and trials in the sky get a discount tomorrow and I can't resist.

Not too bothered about vita games ATM. Ha ha.

I was wondering the same thing about the issues with swapping memory cards. I just got a Vita from my sisters boyfriend with an 8gb card and I can imagine if this whole cross buy thing happens space is gonna run short real quick. I could in theory just sell the 8 and get a 32, but if I could just buy 1 or 2 spares and hot swap them that would work too.

I think it's a case of lazy developer really with a combination of resources.

And then they shut down Studio Liverpool.

oh well at least it's only low priced.

This isn't being made by a Sony studio so I don't see how that would relate to a first party studio being shut down.

Just finished Golden Abyss for the first time on hard difficulty. Wow, that is an awesome handheld game. I think it seriously stacks up well with the other Uncharted games and that is saying a whole lot.

It also makes me excited for other big budget titles(AC: Liberation, Killzone: Mercenary, Soul Sacrifice etc.). This game proves that the Vita and handheld gaming can hold their own with the consoles. I just hope consumers and developers realize it as well.

The new update is due tomorrow. Is it worldwide?
Sony have been a bit coy since its release date announcement.

Time will tell.

Uncharted is awesome on the Vita.

Have you tried Gravity Rush already?

Just the demo and I really liked it.

1.8 is live. Just finished installing but the PSONE games aren't on the store yet. Rear touch scrolling with the internet is a really nice touch. Hopefully I can finally import my GT5 photos onto the Vita.

Edit: reading that you can transfer more games from PS3 to Vita than what has been listed by Sony to be available. Must be similar to the PSP on Vita support.

Just a heads up for those wishing to transfer PS1 to Vita.
They need to be in their uninstalled form(bubble) for the content manager to recognise them.

Not sure of the validity of this.

http://m.neogaf.com/showthread.php?t=488830

As a single account user it's no bother to me.
May effect some though.

Edit. Are people who had multiple accounts on one memory card now screwed?
Dependant upon which account did the 1.8 update all other accounts are locked out.

Sony should have given a heads up on this matter. At least to give time to people to get accounts in order. Even if needing seperate cards for each account.

I really love my vita, but sony needs to step up the game if they want it to become a succes in the future:

Reduce price of memory cards,
more games,
PS+ on vita,
don't screw your existing customers with limiting (as above)

SCEA's list is inferior to SCEEs list. They don't even get the original MGS, they just get 9 games. SCEE did good for once. 👍
