at this point, imo, the graphics are good enough. i would prefer more games to be longer and more challenging. God of War was good, but, way too short and the harder settings just made the ai cheaper instead of a better challenge. The force unleashed was fun too, but, once again way too short and no difficulty adjustments.

Then (broken record) if the new format would really allow for ps2 games to be ported over then i can *always* do another run through of FFVII ... and i never could finish ffix because of the cgi's freezing.

Yeah, ive never being one for buying 'air' either! I want the physical game in a physical box and I want to use it on as many machines as I want forever!

same. which is why i never got echrome. shame.

No, it is all just rumor and speculation.

However, I do like the PSPFanboy mock up.

It would be pretty hard to press the buttons near the middle of the keyboard...think about it

Alot of the things listed can already be done on an old PSP-1000 with CFW.

My only complaint about the original PSP is the lack of a second analog stick. I already rip all my games off UMD to the memory stick, simply because I don't like carrying around a pile of UMD's. I want to be able to play whatever game I own whenever I want to play it.

Storage is a non-issue, because two 16GB MicroSD cards are the same price as an 8GB MSPD.

u cant use SD cards in psp
noob
Did you, um, click the link?

Anyways, for the 4000, their chief concern should be lowering prices and raising battery life. Everyone knows the iPhone is hopelessly inept, so so long as the 4000 doesn't lose any functionality it should be able to hold its own against the DSi.

I doubt they would raise battery life as their extended life battery pack sells well, and is relatively cheap. I have it and my PSP-2000 can get 13 hours of idle time or 10-11 hours of video or digital download gaming if I keep the screen brightness on the lowest setting. It is about 8-9 hours of UMD gaming, depending on how much it uses it. I have no clue about the UMD movies, as I own none.

I should probably test it connected to a TV, with the screen off. It will be interesting to also test it using the new features that Resistance will have with the PS3.

Except the iPhone is trendy. I think that will play a huge roll and why Apple thinks they can back up their gaming boasts.

And I am sure that eliminating the scanlines will keep it competitive with the DSi. But I think that a PSP2 would definitely grab some attention, especially if it can do some excellent stuff.

terribly sorry

Depending on what version your motherboard is/when you bought it, I might be able to talk you through it or do it for you. Send me a PM if you're interested.

I've heard of issues with trying to make an MMS with an 8GB MS Pro Duo, but not with running CFW while using an 8GB MSPD.

People seem to keep an extra 2GB stick around for their MMS needs. Once you've got the CFW on then it doesn't really matter. I've never had to make an MMS for updating CFW, I've always just put the update in x:/PSP/GAME and run it. Even with my games and whatnot on the MSPD it has never caused problems. I'm currently running 5.00M33-4. I've got an 8GB MSPD and two 2GB MSPD's.

New News

Theres even more reason now to suspect a new PSP is in development as Sony has just stated it has job openings for staff to test a 'New Gaming Machine' which has not been released. It could also be some sort of peripheral maybe for the PS3 but its more likely to be the PSP2.

Gamespot
Hot on heels of PSP2 rumors, SCEJ begins hiring testers to evaluate a "part of the PlayStation or PSP series and their peripherals," including "machines not yet released."

For months, rumors have been circulating about either a redesign or a successor to Sony's PSP handheld. This week, the flames of speculation were further fanned by a job listing on the official Sony Computer Entertainment Japan Web site for an "evaluator/assessor" for a "new game machine." According to a GameSpot translation by a fluent Japanese speaker, the new machine is "part of the PlayStation or PSP series and their peripherals."

The job listing goes on to state that, if accepted, evaluator/assessor applicants will "be part of an advisory staff that will play PlayStation series software on this new machine and check its functionality. They will also be able to "test game machines not yet released or new functionality of PS3 peripherals before they are released." (Emphasis added.)

So what exactly is this new "game machine"? Is it a new PSP, as some suspect, or simply some sort of new peripheral for the PSP or PS3? When contacted by GameSpot, Sony Computer Entertainment reps said they were working on a response, which had not been issued as of press time.

If the device in question is a new model of the existing PSP platform, it would be the fourth iteration and third redesign of the handheld since its Western release in 2005. The first revamp, the PSP-2000, was unveiled at E3 2007 and offered a slimmer chassis and video-output support. The second revision, the PSP-3000 that launched last October, offered a brighter LCD screen, built-in microphone for use with Skype, and interlaced video output.

Yeah that looks very impressive, the only two things I dont like are the round PS button (should be square for this design) and its not PSP shaped!

Robin

Just so everyone knows..thats not the psp2.. that is just someones creative speculative design

apparently that design is similar to the actual reworked psp (not psp2). If it is I definitely would buy it (just add divx support please)

I'm goin for the apple portable console. That would take my PSP's place definately.

Unless it interacts with my PS3 I am not interested.

However, if it actually happens then it will likely force Sony to make a PSP 2.

Not much news to add but I have noticed on a few sites the psp4000/psp2 rumor being dug up again and that it will be out by the end of the year. Other mentions were x2 analogue sticks and touch screen and an announcement likely at E3.

I'm remaining skeptical until E3 because it is once again based on "an inside source."

Last year we got the PSP 3000 after these kinds of rumors.

Unfixable interlacing issues. Its because of the screen they chose. Your mileage may vary as to how much of a problem it is, though.

Yeah, the interlacing issue is definitely a matter of case to case for how bad it is. I have seen some people say the new screen is amazing and others who returned it within a few days.

But my point was that the past couple of E3s with PSP2 rumors leading up to them have just brought us the PSP 2000 and PSP 3000, which were both far from the rumored super mobile everyone expected.

Aren't there issues with the PSP3000 LCD screen (Interlacing issues)?

They are not issues, the users just need tissues. The PSP doesn't switch from progressive to interlaced. Its stuck on interlace so the TV out will work on normal TV's. That can not be fixed. its still has a better image and fast pixel refresh.
