Passed by a purple one on the M1 (S) near Derby in 1996. :D

wee_man: Err... they cancel each other out, meaning you suck again? :D

Can't exactly imagine there being too many of them about in Britain. I remember you mentioning it in the guess that car thread I think.
Did you pass it or it pass you :D?
Edit: :grumpy: Suck you too :grumpy: ................................hmmm maybe I didn't mean that...............:odd: ............

It passed me. I was trundling along in my G-reg Fiesta and spotted a purple Diablo coming along at about 90mph. Then I spotted a purple Testarossa going past at about 90mph. Then it twigged what it was I'd actually seen.

Bizarre car.

God bless the Fiesta. I was going to get one the other day, but from quotes from Norwich Union said it is cheaper for me to get insurance on a 1.4 Clio :odd: . Also I got quoted £3000 on a Micra the other day from a student insurance company  :odd:. Maybe not....
Anywayz, so you knew what it was? I've never heard of the thing before in my life. It's a fugly looking car I think. Not my cup of tea.

Oh yes - I'd spotted it in a book and, the way these things happen, it stuck in my head (well, I did get the 12th highest mark in the country in my General Studies A-Level... :D).

I've got a 1.3i L-reg Fiesta, going for £1000. Costs me £250 a year to insure fully comprehensive.

Endsleigh SUCK. They kept writing to me saying that they were the cheapest for students, and then quoted more than 50% more than my insurers at the time.

Supra TT £770 FC, NSX £690 FC at Admiral... :D

General Studies, pah.....for loosers :P. I didn't realise they had it back in your day :D. 12th heighest eh. Not bad. But look where that got you :D.
Norwich Union are good.
Endsleigh do suck. 👍
I got quoted £850 on teh clio with Norwich, but it's third party fire and theft, and only so cheap if I take my pass plus, which is what I might have to do anyway.

That's not bad for the Supra or NSX. You tried Tescie's?. They're supposed to be quite good. Norwich are as well. 👍

i saw a yellow f50, probably the rarest i have seen, even [rarer] than an enzo...
BUT i have never seen, believe it or not:
r34 skyline gtr
pagani c12s
mclaren f1

Not bad? It's blimmin' great!

I've tried everyone - I occasionally get a bit over-excited at the thought of the NSX and get another quote :D

I've found AA, Endsleigh and Norwich Union Direct to be the most expensive (AA want £1200pa TPFT for my current car - I pay £560pa FC...).

Cheapest are generally Tesco, More Th<n, Churchill, Admiral and Elephant (who are underwritten by... Norwich Union.. :D). All five were within £30 of each other for me MX-3.

Rarest car seen eh? Hmm, well I've seen stirling moss driving a Maserati 250F at Silverstone which was quite special and on the same day a Ferrari 156 'Sharknose'.

The rarest car seen on the road. I'll have to dredge the old memory banks for this...

- Ferrari 550 Maranello Barchetta in black was nice and you don't see those everyday (there was a red Testarossa parked behind it too). Double whammy! (Hong Kong)

- Lamborghini LP500S in white parked in an underground car park. This was special as I had a huge poster of the same car inthe same colour for most of my childhood. (Hong Kong)

- Ferrari 288 GTO in red. My all time favourite car, but it was on the way to the Ferrari 40th anniversary do at Silverstone. So, not that much of a suprise. (UK)

I'm sure I've seen cars that are rarer, but I can't think right now.

I've seen a Ferrari F50 but I'm still working on a Toyota Highlander 2.2, I've seen several old Bugattis but never a Nissan Altima 2.5SL, and I've seen a Lamborghini Diablo but still no Jaguar X-Type automatic.

I've seen a Ferrari F40 and F50, but those were at auto shows, so they might not count. I have seen an Enzo out in the wild though. I've also seen a Ford RS200, I saw a Eunos Cosmo a while back, very rare over here in the states. I saw a Hyundai ATOZ in the school parking lot a few weeks ago, again only rare because I'm in the U.S.

Then there have been a bunch of Ferrari / Lamborghini / Porsche / other expensive but not that rare car sightings.

I got a ride in a Dodge Viper that serves as a CART pace car, three laps around PIR. So far that's the rarest car I've actually been in. Fastest too, got up to around 150mph I think.

I've seen two Ferarri 550 Maranello's this month. Odd to, those are the only two I've ever seen.

I saw a Lamborghini Diablo the same day I got my license.

Mmm...I saw a Toyota Supra yesterday and I almost wet myself.

A Porshe Carerra flew by my friend and I one day on the interstate, it hummed by nicely.

About once I a week I see a Viper.

I've sat in a bright yellow Ferrari 355 convertible. I saw loads of Ferraris, including an F40, along the harbour in Puerto Banus, south Spain. I've also seen a BMW Z1 at Donnington Park.

So I'm not the only one thats been in a Viper:

:D

I've been to Goodwood FofS in 1999 and 2002, so there was a lot of rare stuff there (Mclaren F1, Espace F1, Celica Pikes Peak, Koenigsegg etc.) I've also seen a black Murcielago on the road, and a replica GT40 that I got to sit in. And last weekend I saw a TVR Tuscan R on the motorway.

Murcielago, Diablo and Contachs.

360 Modenas, 550 Marenellos and assorted others including 1 F40.

Several R34 GT-Rs. TOO Many WRX STIs

3 NSXs (1 Spec-R or whatever)

Lotus Elise, Lotus Exige Shelby Mustang GT500

Several GT3s (Porsche) and 1 or 2 GT2s, plenty of 911 Turbos.

Tommy Kaira R-33.

All of these were on the street, cept the F40.

Oh yeh Ive seen evos and Rx-7sw and **** and 7 sec drag cars but I dont care about them.

My favourite though, is The Exvitermini (www.exvitermini.com) R-33 skyline. Apparently that thing turns out of 1000kW on a dyno. THATS IN-****ING-SANE

Ive Seen 2 R34 GTRS (1 of them Wario from www.exvitermini.com)
2 R34 GT-Ts (one in drive way)
2many rexys seen
EVO 6 TME
Diablo
Dodge Viper
Murchelgo (however u spell it)
3 Porche Caynne
Ferriar 360 modena
Few Supras
few more that i cant remeber

I'll try and put the Festival of speed and Le Mans pics on the pc.
Also I've remembered that I've seen both an F40 and F50 down at something called teh Brighton speed trials. It's a quater mile run, drag. Just going for times. Both of them ran. Can't remember what times they got.

Nice pics!

You haven't happened to spot (or even better, heard)a BRM V16?

That would top my list all categories.

Cheez, there are three Evo 8's on the lot down the street in my town. I'm thinking of buying one just to get it out their door. Hell, I've had an accident with an Evo 8 (got rearended, and pushed into the Evo in front of me).

I've also seen numerous "1 of none" American muscle cars, COPO editions, etc. at shows, but shows don't really count.

I've driven a Lamborghini Espada, a Maserati Bora, a Porsche 928 (not exactly "rare"), and a Ferrari 330 GTS.

In Colchester ( a town near me) I saw a Yellow Lamborghini with the private plate P 1 followed by a yellow Ferrari 355 with the number plate P 2. They both looked Columbian and I found out later that they are club owners in and around the London area. I rarely see Diablos and 355's near me so that was quite cool

Lamborghini Countach (on the highway while we were heading to Montreal)
Saleen Mustang
Bentley/Rolls Royce convertible - red with cream interior

15 Aston Martins, Rolls Royces, and Bentleys in a line for a wedding procession. Some dated back to the 50s, others still were brand new. The line of them brought traffic to a complete stop as people were gawking and drooling as they passed slowly.

Cadillac 16 (auto show)

Well, I reckon racing cars don't count, so:

I saw the first BMW M3 CSL in the country at Silverstone, where I also saw a Mercedes CLK-GTR and, at last year's race a 996 GT3 and Koenigsegg CC8. I also saw, on the road, and driving (and having difficulty with oil pressure in the stop-start traffic, the only (sorry Duke, but this really is 1/1!!) genuine Jaguar XJ13:

Note, this image is of a replica. The original is navy blue.

I was best man at a wedding where the father of the bride drove her to the ceremony in his F40. The back of her dress was trashed, but she thought it was a cool thing to do.

My parents held a dinner party, and one of the guests turned up in an XJR-15. That was a thing of beauty.

TVR Speed 12, racing car, but still rare! :P

And, The last ever GT40

Nope :) I had someone take a couple pictures for me... this would be the launch. There's another one of the car going around the last corner on the track, with me waving, but it's a bit too big to be sticking here :)

Well....yes. It raced at Goodwood revival in....can't remember but one of the first years the revival started, and it has to be one of the most orgasmic things I've ever heard and seen  . Though if my memory serves me correctly, trhey had engine problems with it and eventually pitted. You could hear it come down the main back straight when there was a bit of silence, and then you just heard it scream as it went down the pit straight  . Also I've seen David Coulthard take one of the pre war Mercedes F1 cars around good wood. That was a spectacle, I think I might have pics somewhere :).
I've heard though that quite a few of the cars which race at Goodwood are replicas built to the original specs as closely as possible to the original cars, which is kind of cheating, but still good :irked: :D .

Daan: That GT40 is used as the pace car for Goodwood revival :).

Giles:  you lucky mofo   :D .
