The Rolex Sports Car Series, Season 4 Discussion!

Since we are changing the GT cars around a little, we need to come up with a spec for the Aston Martin as well as the Corvette.

Yes sir. They shouldn't be too hard, they should fit in quite well. Both are FR, so we should start out at a similar spec with the other FR's.

I know I wasn't around a lot this season but I am coming back for season 4.

You haven't been around since the first half of season 1...

Ya I know.

I have a question about GT. Why isn't the BMW M3 on the list?

For DP why don't we just use 3 different road cars that look like DP?

For tracks why not a custom?

Why don't we add the GX class?

The BMW eats tires.

Because there aren't 3 cars...

**** off.

Because 5,5,5 is more confusing than 6,10. 5,5,5 is realistically 3,3,3. So, I'd rather have 4,8 than three races of three cars going on.

Guto says it best.

Hey polar,

Here is what I have set up a few months ago for a future GT1 series using the actual specs. I substituted the Porsche and used the RUF, but the BMW Z4 was a bit of a challange to meet the specs. It was exhaustive, as I went as far as ensuring the power to weight ratios were bang on and hours of testing. I just haven't launched it yet.

Check it out: http://gt1world.com/

Yes I'm familiar with the series! Storm had one like it.

I hope yours works out!

I think the Nissan R390 road car is a great idea, although the fact it's the only DP car AND it's not the easiest to get hold of would put people off (Which is a shame)

Either way I'll definitely be back for season 4... More than likely in something Rear wheel drive ;)

I would join this, but I can't do 0 ABS with the DS3. My controller is shot anyway and the buttons are sticking. Hard to even modulate throttle. I think DP with the R390 Road car is cool, but maybe adding the TVR Speed 12 in there would be good too. 1200kg and 550hp would be ideal IMO.

The R390 is what I want as well. I've done some searching, and I can't find another car in the game that remotely can match the R390 in terms of downforce. We can match weight and horsepower, but the lap times are so unequal that the other car would need way more horsepower than the R390 road car which sets up the current predicament in Rolex today. The Riley can't match the Corvette DP on downforce tracks like Barber or Laguna Seca whereas the Corvette DP is not competitive at Rovals. I'd love the variety, but it would be a spec nightmare.

Hey guys,

Sorry for the sudden leave. I had to go somewhere and couldn't make the end. I didn't know I had to go, either. Missed out on an easy victory there, but these last few races I promise to score as many wins as possible to make up for the loss. And thanks for waiting for me, guys, appreciated it.

Cheers.

Wrong thread xD

Anyways, to comment on the TVR-

We've definitely given it a look. It just doesn't get down in weight enough, like you said, it's about 1200 (maybe a little less). The current DP cars are at 500ish HP and depending on engine, 1020 or 1030 kg. So it may have the looks, but it just doesn't quite work out.

Good idea though!

And about the R390 being tricky to get: I'm looking into finding a ticket for the car and then asking someone how to "grind" until I get one. Then, if possible, I can send it to people interested. Ill also have to figure out how to send people cars without losing the car...

No problem man. Funny you say this on the season 4 discussion thread and not on the season 3 thread

@polar: I have the R390 road car. I'm not sure how to dupe a car though.

Neither am I. I'm about to YouTube it...

Im pretty sure you'll only be able to dupe it if it's under the 1Million credit trade cap...

I don't know how much the road car costs; I'm pretty sure I got it for cheaper than the 1 mil. trade cap.

Guys, get a ticket level 12 (it's easy, complete Professional Series on either A-Spec or B-Spec). You dupe copying the save to a USB device, then send the ticket, delete save, and copy the old save back.

This is exactly how it works and the R390 road car is untradable. To grind the car from a ticket you just do the same thing without sending anything. I have the level 12 ticket and I think a 1998 also works.

Yeah it does. The TVR with stage 3 is less weight than the R390. Down to 1020kg. Thing is, it's front heavy, so putting it at 1170kg and the ballast to the rear evens it out. It has equal downforce to the R390, but that car is mid engined so it already has a favorable ballance. Instead of a 'spec' class, you could also try the McLaren F1 road car, which gets down to 980kg and has downforce rivaling the R390.

After watching a few grand am vids today I think the Idea of one car, same specs just different colours is a pretty good Idea... Just my opinion.

Thing is, all the group C cars have the same downforce levels, and they are all the same drivetrain. That makes those cars easy to spec. We're taking a shot in the dark mixing FR TVR Cerbera Speed 12, MR Nissan R390 Road, and even MR McLaren F1. The downforce rivals the R390, but it's not completely equal. With that, we will get what's wrong in Rolex now. The Riley is dominant on faster tracks while the Corvette DP owns the downforce tracks. Group C didn't have that problem because PD gave each one an even amount of downforce. I know not everyone will realize that those 3 cars will not be theoretically equal at all tracks, and I know that will make spec wars.

I already spec'd them all, so there isn't an issue there. The VW W12 Nardo concept is another good car, but a little heavier. The Mac F1 and the R390 are damn close with about 20hp/25kg difference between them. You already have a formula that's good here with the Group C cars, now you're changing it. So when you change you have to spec the cars. So what's the issue with spec'ing different cars?

There really isn't, the group C cars raced each other in real life, so the spec'ing was pretty much done for me.

We haven't totally decided what we're doing, right now we're just really trying to figure out how the Nissan will work.

Three new Group C cars is still a valid option.

Let me tell you one thing. The Jaguar XJR-9 is WAY slower than the other Group C cars. Of the LMP/Group C type cars, that and the Audi R10 are dogs that need special treatment. If you were to go that route with including that car, it would need to be <950kg if the others were 1000kg or 1030kg. The 787B, Toyota 88CV and Sauber C9 are the closest IMO. The Nissan is tougher to drive, the Jaguar is a lot slower, the Peugeot 905 suffers in top speed. I'm not sure about the Nissan R89 though.

On the GT side, here's what you could consider:

LM GTE

FERRARI 458 ITALIA
CHEVROLET CORVETTE C6 ZR1
RUF RGT
ASTON MARTIN VANTAGE

MINIMUM WEIGHT 1245 kg
All 550hp

9 World Track Season in this order:

La Sarthe
Spa
Monza
Daytona RC
Suzuka
Laguna Seca
Fuji F
Nurb GP/F
Twin Ring Motegi RC

Sadly the RUF can't make 550hp

The R89C is like the 905 in that it suffers on the top end. Its fast on the slower tracks though. I tested it when we originally started testing group C. I'm still on the R390 road car boat. It would be no worries speccing.

But we're racing grand am here, not Le Mans.

And Cnd, the only issue is getting the car, it seems to be a bit tricky to get...

I got lucky and found it in the used car dealership.

I've never had the chance to race these cars but it's something I've been wanting to do for a long time. I'd be interested in helping with testing and probably running the series if it takes place at a time that I'm available. CND will (hopefully) vouch for my gentlemanly racing.
