The RUF thread.

Well hell, I could say the same for Pagani & Koenigsegg then.

Yeah, but they're not seen as a substitute for a historic marque.

The best thing I hope PD has done in lieu of Porsche not being there is include a ALL of the Rufs and Ferrari prototypes.

Porsche really dont have good new leman cars. They dont compete in the LMP1 category. Whats more important for this game to have is audi leman (check) and peugot leman. Not having porsche is hardly the end of the world, i'd take ferrari and or lambo over porsche anyday.

-RS Spyder isn't an LMP1 but look in the ALMS, the RS has won more than once in front of the ALMP1. Imagine how it would be if Porsche developped a LMP1! The Carrera GT was made to do a come back in that category but it was judged too expensive to use. So they only made road cars with.

-It's not the end of the world but it's a very big lack in automotive history!

If we dont have Porsche in GT5 at least we will have RUF.

RUF is one of the unique manufacturer!

They can create fantastics cars from another perfect manufacturer like Porsche.

The FM3 fanboys don't know heritage, they only know porsches, so with GT5 not having it, that's the only thing they can bash us with, and they will take it to extreme levels. Porsches have nothing that RUF haven't improved.

I don't really care about FM3. :P The circuit in the E3 and GamesCom videos can't reach the level of graphics of Gran Turismo. There are less cars and less sorts of races like WRC and Nascar. I think there aren't even pit stops and enduranc events. And if PD adds RUF's best cars, I don't think fanboys of Forza have anything to say anymore because those RUF's will be much better moddeled than the Porsches in FM3! ;)

^Ruf's philosophy is more of street cars than building race cars. That's why there aren't any new race cars built by them in a long time. I bet that Ruf can improve that RSR as well.;)

Just to note, Ruf can build upon those race cars by Porsche if they wanted to. During my 2nd to last visit to the US dealer, I did see 2 GT3 Cup cars being worked on by the company for an customer's team.

But, as sumbrownkid has said, that's not their philosophy. :)

They probably service them as well, and where is this dealer? It's my dream to one day buy a Ruf or just take a Porsche there and have them convert it.

I know Ruf's philosophy. I've been to the Ruf Autocentre in Dallas. Trust me, I know their work. But my point still stands.

Sumbrownkid, you can always buy used Rufs. :) Still way more expensive than normal Porsche turbos, but it's more possible.

EDIT - speaking of race cars. I hope we see Manthey Motors in.

They service & work upon anything Porsche. Maintenance, repairs, conversions, anything alongside their own.

The dealer is located in Carollton, Texas next to Addison Airport; there's a tunnel under the airport the service guys like to run under coming back from testing the cars. :D

@Arvin Charles.

Well I'm studying to be a doctor, and hopefully become a surgeon one day. A new Ruf wouldn't be a stretch...but a used one can suffice.:)

Well hell, I could say the same for Pagani & Koenigsegg then.

Pagani did have a Le Mans racer, but not a good history :D

And im not saying that a company without Le Mans racers isn't allowed in GT5 but if i could choose between Porsche and Ruf i will go for the first one :)

Do RUF make anything similar to the new Porsche GT3 RS?
As i may have said before, I'm no huge Porsche fan, but I do rather like the GT3 and the new RS version just looks amazing!

The closest thing available is the RGT which is based upon a GT3 chassis. The only thing they could do beyond that for the RS is probably tune it.

You're right if you discount the fact that there's a thing called Porsche Motorsports. Aside from the prototypes, they have the RSR. There's a HUGE difference between a street car & a race car.

Now THAT is what I'm talking about!! but it isn't bad to have RUF in the game.

Alpina is to BMW as RUF is to Porsche, I like the Yellow Bird, but I wish Alpina were here too, 'cos I like the B12, B10, B9, B6 more!!

alba , a forum member played the gtpsp today at gamescom, and veriefied it had RUF cars in there, the chances are extremeley likley that we ill now see this in gt5

That's no surprise because GTM will have all the GT4 cars, and since RUF was in GT4..

I'd be surprised if they weren't in GT5 but something tells me they are.

The only thing that bothers me is RUF's lack of race cars.

Porsche has a lot of history behind it when it comes to race cars and there are so many GT1 and LMP's that would be a great addition to the ranks of cars in GT5.
I can only hope and keep my fingers crossed that Kaz was saving it for TGS.

I can make do with RUF as long as they don't forget that Yellowbird or CTR :sly:

I'm assuming GT5 will have the CTR3

The exception with this car compared to RUF's others is that the chassis was made entirely by RUF - but obviously keeping a hint of Porsche.

Off topic, but you do realise that the ALMS rules, which are different from the Le Mans rules, makes the LMP1 and LMP2 classes pretty much equal in pace? Bring the Porsche RS Spyders over to Europe, and they are slower than the LMP1 category.

From that other thread:

I played lots of GTpsp and it's awesome (all assists off and pro mode) and I played chamonix with the impreza, nurburg with the veyron, r246 with the ruf yellow bird 86' (yes ruf are in GT psp so they'll most likely be in gt5 as well) and tested the countach on the test course XD

So it looks like the Yellowbird will be in at least

It had the newer ruf up until 2001 I saw, I was looking for newer models but they weren't in there, dunno if that's any indication, It had the 86' 00' 01' and another one but i can't put my finger on which one again lol

Yes, I do. And that's the perefect example to show of what Porsche could be capable if they develop an LMP1.

But thanks for the precision, I should have done it myself.:)
