Congratulations to matticus88 in being the first certified driver. We will reschedule for that escort test, but as of now matticus88 is certified for opening pace laps and to pace caution laps for races under the Safety Car Club name.

matticus88 Review
Speed: Very steady. Couldn't get much better.
Accelerating for Restarts: Could wait a half second longer before taking off. Still very good, and some event organizers might want drivers to take off earlier.
Driving Line: The only real thing he needs to work on. Be more in the center of the track. Don't use a racing line when pacing. (Note: Only used the racing line on the road courses.) On the positive side he did move to the center for ovals after I mentioned it.
Knowledge of Process: Seems to have a good understanding. When I would be talking about something he made it clear that he understood.
Attitude: Very eager to learn and fun to be around.
Patience: Has the I'll just keep trying attitude if he makes a mistake. Very calm.

Thanks Rallymorten.

@peel, i did take alook at the indy thread last night, just before i logged off for the night :) Quick question though, do i need to be there for the qualifying session too? i know i still got the escort evaluation to do so i could turn up pre-qualy and do it then?

You know, I am going to be very busy for a while and in kinda lazy when on the PS3. I'm leaving this club. Sorry. You can take my name off the OP.

I'm usually on most afternoons and weekends Melbourne time

I'll add you to the list.

Great job holding a steady speed and coming out on time for the Laguna Seca qualifying. It's too bad you had connection issues though. Good job on accelerating onto pit road. On a separate note, thanks for the banners.

Update
I've added the GMT time zone format next to the local time zone times. Please let me know if I have your local or your GMT conversion incorrect.

Do you have a thread with full details about your event? What will the pace speed be? Is it for an opening lap or do you need us to stick around? What would the driver be doing? Please reread the beginning of the OP, reply with the details and we'll be happy to help.

Once again I forgot the FR :banghead: I WILL do it tonight :)

Also, not that I'm unhappy with the banner, which is very good indeed, but anyone want to do a photoshoot with one of us driving a Skyline Pace Car and the rest of us in different cars, e.g. Formula GT, NASCAR, DTM, GT500 etc?

^ yes morten, i would have prefered if i had a good screenshot of the pace car infront of a field of race cars. Next event someone does the pacing in, take some photos :)

Sorry, I missed you rallymorten. I didn't even notice that message you sent me and unfortunately I was occupied with a race replay for some standings and official points. I'll try to get on this afternoon. (Evening for you.) If anyone else wants to join in, just send me that FR.

I could try taking a few photos of the Laguna Seca qualifying that you paced. I've never uploaded photos before though, it might actually be easier to send someone the replay. Maybe someone could give me some tips after I meet them online. (Yes, I do know there is a guide.)

It's ok, I should be online later today :) as Peelster said, JOIN so we can get some photos! I'll be uploading some from Trial Mountain when the time comes 👍

Awesome! Even though what I really said was I would try to get some photos from a replay I have at Laguna Seca where matti was pacing.

Indianapolis 500 race added to the Event Queue.

I'll be online most of this day, so shoot me a message when you are doing your training morten, and i'll join the room, i could do my escort training then too, and after, get some photos... might look a little poor with only 2 race cars but some good camera angles will sort it :)

edit: whats the estimated length of the indy500 race? i can pace it i think, although might be wise to have 2 safety cars incase i have connection issues again. although i did a race(as competitor) last night and had no problems.

Oh boy has this been a great way to use a Friday afternoon: catching up to the SC is a "Chase the rabbit" seasonal, Matti just did the classic "wroom-screech-BANG" on a completely dark Nurb, and a LOT more

It's about 3 hours. It could be 4 if there are issues.

Speed: Very steady. I noticed a couple dips in speed at times, but it's still steady 99% of the time.
Accelerating for Restarts: At first was taking off too early. After a couple tips he had it down.
Driving Line: Right in the middle at all times! Very good! Took the Corkscrew at Laguna Seca like a pro.
Knowledge of Process: Seemed like he got it right away.
Attitude: If he had a question, he didn't hesitate to ask. Willing to help out with other's events as well. Eager to take on extra tasks as well.
Patience: Willing to try again if needed. Stays put as well if needed. Exactly what we're looking for.

In other news: We did some Escort testing and determined that the best spot for the Safety Car is behind the damaged racer when escorting them back to the pits. As far as response times are concerned, that will be determined by a 1 lap time trial around the Nordschleife. When the Safety Car is responding, the slow cars should hold their line while the faster cars go around. (Fast cars pass Safety Car, Safety Car passes slow cars.) Racers should never attempt to stop the Safety Car from going around, nor should the Safety Car prevent racers from going around. Racers should pay special attention when the Safety Car is out, as there is always a sectional caution around the Safety Car.

Hey, I want a review of me too! Those would fit well in the OP

I reviewed you in my last post. :) By the way, matti can do one too if he wants, because he was there! Yay feedback! Maybe I can post links to reviews in the OP.

Good job on shattering the Nordschleife TT guys. See you sometime later for final escort practice. (Actually, with all we've done I could probably certify matti, but we did those tests as we were still figuring it out.)

Oh and matti, I liked how you added the motto to your signature. Why didn't I think of that? Anyway, I stole your idea now. :guilty: 👍

Yeah, I noticed you did. The last five minutes were pretty, well, I won't say boring, but, eh, we we're talking about calling it the day and whether or not to say "Goodnight" to each other, here's what I remember:

Peel:
Oh by the way, "greetings from the past"

Me:
Greetings from the future! I'm an alien travelling through the loophole of time called EUROPE

We then agree that I should say good evening and he goodnight:

Peel:
Goodnight then.

Me:
Well, I don't want to say it, you should hear it for yourself :D

I'm certainly happy to have passed, it feels kinda good 👍

Edit: Oh, and I didn't notice before now the banner is actually i working .gif. If only I knew how to do that 👍

its quite simple when you know how lol. did it in photoshop, using the animations window. if you have any ideas for a better banner, pm me :)

Thing is, on the app I could only see the stationary car, but it looks good 👍 if anyone is up for, well, anything, I'm on now

Nah, shortened weekend for me this time, I didn't even have time for my planned contributions to the SC maps
