Well deserved praise on the commentary Dowlin, great job! 👍

I had two great races with challenging battles in both. The first race it was Goodwolf, and in the second it was with Third Reign for what seemed most of the race, great stuff guys.

Congratulations to Petros on both wins, his motto is obviously "drive it like you stole it" the way he was throwing it around those corners. :sly:

Here's some pics from race1

This seems familiar....

Oh yeah

Great pics Captain Gary 👍

Annoyingly I was only about .5 faster on the Softs than on the Mediums. I could keep pace on the Meds but was miles behind on the Softs, frustrating... Still was a good race for my first time in the car ^^.

In terms of the event it was great and I watched back the race via Dowlin and really enjoyed seeing the other battles all the way through the field. I hope it will be a regular occurrence. Really hoping I can get off work to do the next race and I already know it'll be a blast :D

Great pics Capt Gary. Good to see all the racers in action. 👍👍👍

Now, and GC Gary's gonna love this, as he has already corrected me twice on it, :dunce: The next race is a change to the advertised venue, because the advertised venue doesnt exist. There is no Cape Ring Mini. I got my wires crossed with Cape and Autumn ring circuits. :dunce::dunce: We will be racing at Cape ring, but on the south track. Sorry for any confusion guys.

The lap amounts will be posted as soon as I have run some practice laps to work the time/laps out.

Whooooh...relieved, I would have hated to race on cape ring inside. That track would have had absolutely no passing possibilities. Cape Ring South is a fun track thought.

Seeing captain gary's pics of our dual pit entry...I seriously need to fire my pit crew! I came out the pits behind gary, wonder what caused it...

Racing in the '96 elise rm again really convinces me that this car is the ultimate fun machine for spec racing. I wouldn't complain if the next 8 sunday cup seasons used this car only!

Good fun practice to set the benchmarks tonight. 5 of us joined to give the Elise a workout at Cape Ring South. The car is a lot of fun here, and the racing was close. We practiced on sport soft tyre, and the times are as follows.

Hey all. I watched the replay of the races with Dowlin's commentary, that was fab man, you did a great job there :-) really enjoyed watching the races back and having someone else's opinion of the events unfolding. Will look forward to doing the same at the next round.

Race 1 went pretty well for me, and I was happy with my 6th place. Spent much of it on my own with no one to battle with, but enjoyed it.

Race 2 was a bit more disappointing though, mainly because I didn't really think about my strategy too much beforehand or have enough practice to judge tyre wear. I ended going for a one stop but up staying out far too long on the mediums and several drivers were able to leapfrog me by time I came back out of the pits. Had good fun chasing down Lotus though and re-passing him.

Great photos Captain D, will look forward to any more that might get posted by the other racers :)

Glad you enjoyed the racing Jammy. After tonights timed runs, I am sure that the next event will be even better. Just a little hint to anyone looking for strategy tips. This is the SC1 car, and there are plenty of pointers regarding strategy in very early posts in the thread, you just gotta look for them.:sly:. Heres an early pic I put up in SC1, which shows the real world settings of the S2 Exige cup 260, courtesy of Dan. The chassis is the same, and the graphic shows the camber and toe angle for front and rear.

Nice one Ade. I'll look into these settings. One thing I was a bit confused about in the race on Sunday, is after the 90 degree right hander, despite carrying similar apex speed, a couple of drivers were able to out accelerate me and get past me before the next corner. And they were on the same tyres. Just wondering if this is most likely down to gearing?

Yes mate, and a bit o slip coming down the straight. The gearing in this car can play a huge part, as I learned tonight at Cape Ring South. I have my top speed set at 160 mph, and have lengthened 2nd, 3rd and 4th so I dont get lock up when down shifting.

Using some estimation on tyre/wheel size an trigonometry I think those toe angles are

-0.32/-0.33 front
And
0.02/0.03 rear
Here's hoping I got it right considering there are better mathematicians amongst those that frequent this page:scared:

Just been through the replays of Sundays races, which were a bit bumpy at the start. This was due to there being so many on the track, and no run off room. Rome was always going to see a bit of rubbing here and there. I did notice that Weal77 was on the wrong tyre for race 1. To choose the tyre you wish to start the race on, you have to return to the lounge and select it in settings, changing it in the pit wont change what is selected in settings at the start of a race.

Also I wanted to mention the rules regarding a manual start. In future for race 2, reverse grid, if there are any disconnections during or after race 1, drivers are required to stay in the lounge until they are called onto the track, in the correct reverse grid order. When called, go out on the track, and stay in the requested order. When everyone is on track and in the correct order, STOP. I will manually start the race, and we will have the correct reverse grid. This will only be necessary in the event of disconnections before race 2.

Thank you racers.

Tomorrow will see the first proper practice at Cape Ring South. Both tyres will be tested. Room open as usual at 8.00pm.

There will be no SCR practice Saturday or Sunday, as I will be practicing for Goodwolfs event which is on Sunday. https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=286157

Nice little practice session saw COBANI and THIRD add their times to the board. We were also joined by Geordie for a few races on the SS tyre. THIRD has become the pace setter with a benchmark time set for both tyres, but COBANI is not far off his pace. Cape ring is a super track in the S1 Elise, but it does have its black spots, so its well worth practicing before the race to find a good set up. The next official practice is next Friday and Saturday, as its practice for Goodwolfs race event on Sunday tomorrow.

Upped my best to 1.18.614 (followed by .664 and .7xx) after the session when I was left with Cobani. Adding my best sectors I should be able to do a .3xx, but that needs a really perfect lap from me.

Managed to swap some shifts about, now I'm able to race at Cape Ring :D

Great news mate. I will do some more practice sessions next weekend, as tonight is Goodwolfs Maserati practice before tomorrows race.

Cape ring south should be an awesome race with a busy grid. The Elise is well suited to this track. Mind you, there are a couple of places of interest, as WEAL and myself found out last night, a few times. One of them being the fast right hander before the final hairpin. Get that wrong, and you either go onto the grass on the left, which puts you into a massive slide all the way into the hairpin barrier, or spits you into a spin to the right. Nasty either way. But when you get the lap right, its very rewarding.
