But when it gets there it will have can holders
How full are the grids on race day currently? I consider dropping by the last two races if there is room.
Im sure we can fit you in mate. It will be great to have you taking part with us again. 👍👍👍
OK guys, onto last nights race. For me this is probably one of the most exciting races I have had. Managed a super qualifying lap of 2:04.141 to put me second on the grid. When the lights went out, I was beaten into turn 1 by Capt_D, but somehow managed to hook onto him, and thats where I stayed for some super close racing, bumper to bumper at times, and all the while SoKaGT was pulling slowly away. Then as the tyres began to go off, Capt_D started to make a gap on me. As the lap count got into the mid teens, I was aware of Goodwolf closing the gap on me, but the tyres suddenly seemed to find some new grip, and I managed to keep ahead. By lap 19, the grip had gone down to 7 on the rear, and Goodwolf was right with me, so I decided to pit to try and get the undercut. It wasnt until 2 laps later, after re passing Sholesy in the pits, that I was with Goodwolf again. I managed to maintain the same speed and kept the gap constant. Lap 25, and I was slowly catching him, and then suddenly, Goodwolf made a mistake going into Ford Kurve. I managed to get past him, and back into 3rd place. But now the pressure was really on, as Weescotman, now on the faster tyre, was right on Goodwolf. Lap 26, and Weescotman is still behind Goodwolf, and the pressure is really on. Lap 27, and ive got Weescotman behind me now, and the gap is closing fast. Lap 28, and somehow Im still in front, but not by much. Will is right on my bumper, and some defensive driving is required. Going into Bit Kurve, I put my car in just the right place to stop a pass, and manage to get the exit still ahead. Will has slip though, and going through Hatzenbects required putting my car in the right place to stop a pass to my left. It worked, and Will attempted the pass, but was denied by the grass. That was it! It was almost over. With Wills trip to the grass, and only a handful of turns left, I could see the podium, taste the champagne, and smell the grid girls. YEAH!!!!...............NAHHHHH.. Watching Will in my mirror, I missed my braking point for Veedol chicane. The back end kicked out, and I was helpless, as Goodwolf, then Will came past me. I regained my composure, and brought the car home 5th. Amazing racing gents.
Now for the results....
Now its time to park the HC up gents. Some of you will be pleased. I will miss it myself, as its been a rewarding challenge taming this beast, and its given me my highest scores this season. But now we move onto the final car for the final 2 races. The Esprit V8. The tune for this car is based on the GT1/2 enduro Esprit. The power of the car this is based on is 550 BHP in real life @900 kg. We cant make this weight, so the power has been increased to match the power to weight ratio.
I cant believe we are nearly done. Just 4 weeks and 2 races until the end. But what a way to go out. The last 2 tracks have been picked for their significance. Spa, as that is where Sunday Cup started, and Silverstone GP, as this returns us to where we started this championship, and completes the circle.
So, I am trying to understand what I am doing wrong, as it seems that I am braking too heavily, but I can't get my head around now it's possible to apply less pressure on the brake (and the brake meter not to read full) and still stop as quickly on the corners...
So, have I got my brake bias set too high on the front as part of the problem? This and a combination of having to retrain myself not to brake so heavily? LSD brake settings have an effect also? Any advice is most appreciated!
My brake bias was 7/3 and I agree with Goodwolf, you need to apply the brake progressively.Just watched some of the replay again. I noticed that I had really heavy tyre wear when compared to most others. This seems to be self inflicted, I can see that I am braking heavier than most of the front runners and by braking so hard I am causing the tyres to overheat. This overheating tyre issue was at the root of most of my woes during the race.
