Well the lovely servers stopped me from having fun, and my car interweb, well happy with my time tonight tho! Cheers Warren for the tow, ;-)

OK Veloci, thanks for letting us know.

Great final practice saw Weescotman steal the fastest lap from Theewar, with the help of some slipstream. New PBs from Goodwolf and GC255 aswell, although GC did manage a low 2:12 in free run.

Dont forget, the clocks went forward by 1 hour last night, so we are now in BST.

I'll be on in an hour or so.

This will be an interesting race. Even if you get into trouble there will surely be someone to race and have fun.
Definitely excitement will be over the moon. Hope we get a new winner this time as well.

Here's a little track guide, notice the name of the first corner? Lol good luck gents.

Great track guide Will. I would like to use it to remind people of the NO OVERTAKING ZONE. It is in the downhill section of the mountain, between turns 11 and 18. No overtaking through here, and mind how you take turn 12, the chicane at the start of this section of track. If anyone does spin out through here, caution must be taken when rejoining. Use the track map, and wait for any cars behind to get past.

Also, just another reminder about the time. UK clocks went forward last night, so we are in BST now.

Bathurst was tough! 24 laps of tense racing threw up a few surprises, but thats a story for another night. Awesome racing, and Theewars tyre strategy denied me a place on the podium in the final lap, but again, thats a story for another night. Now is champagne time for the top three.

Race was going well for me, until lap 17,back straight all grip left my tyres and off I went, pitted and started using the sm tyres, would have been better on rims! Came up behind Paul after another off, and thought he'd let me go before the mountain part, but that didn't happen and I got miffed, out the last corner foot down and had to dodge right to avoid Paul, putting me on the grass and I clipped Paul as I hit tarmac again, (sorry paul) then it was just a matter of trying to get this thing across the line, oh well onto the next track. Well done Gary, soka and Warren.

Moved over to the right to let you pass Will. Sorry did't mean to hold you, I tried to stay out of everyone's way, and moved over when I could
.

Massively frustrating night for me again :banghead:. Got an almost immediate disconnect and as I have always been running on wireless I gave the wired connection a blast. Not easy as with the router in the loft and me on the ground floor I had to steal the LAN cable from the TV and re-site the PS3 to accommodate the short cable. Here's the result:
24fcnj7.jpg

So with little time to get ready for the race I jumped straight into the qualifying only to find that the car handled like a bag of 🤬 . Had I not saved the last set-up? Who knows but the end result not good, not being able to keep the car on the track where previously, albeit somewhat off the pace, I had managed to keep things clean.

So onto the race, firstly, please accept my apologies if I got in anyone's way while being lapped (or double lapped!). I think I might have been in 8th place when i was involved in a major collision at Skyline (gravel at the top of the course) which basically left my car lit up like a hookers Christmas tree!

I was 20 seconds down before I knew it and it went downhill from there (Except when I was going uphill). I think I managed 1 half decent lap of 2.16 but that was just the faintest of blips in an otherwise faultful evening.

To add insult to injury I was disconnected again (remember now on a wired connection) just before I was about to pit in for my mediums and really turn up the pace!

Finally while in the lobby listening to everyone congratulate the podium winners and chat about the race I quietly hid in the corner, too embarrassed :embarrassed: to speak, I was finally disconnected one more time. Oh crap! OK so I might be on a 60mb Virgin service but HELP!

Finally, yes really finally, watch out....I have just bought a  Logitech G27 set ...bring it on!

Maybe uncle Emerson can sort it all out for you LOL:D

Seriously, that's annoying Canary, wish I could help.

Hold fire on abandoning the LAN though, that track seems to be the most unstable, whether that would have any influence I don't know, maybe one of the lads will be able to shed some light for you.

I'm on virgin 30mb (started life as 10mb 2 years ago). I had about 3 months of Internet problems, packet loss and Stability issues, at the beginning. 3 routers later and I had something worth paying for. Long story short the virgin superhub is S:censored:t And PlayStation 3's and the aforementioned don't interface well anyway. Even worse on wireless, when upload speeds seem to be key on GT games.

OK guys, before I get on with my race report, and results tonight, I would like to try and offer some help to Canary with his DC problems. If anyone has any ideas, put them forward. Personally, all I can suggest is to keep it wired, reboot ps3 and clear cache every time. My internet is with BT, and I have a BT hub5, which I have forwarded the ports to allow my ps3 the best connection at all times. I have found this guide on how to do it with a Virgin Superhub.

PORT FORWARDING VIRGIN SUPERHUB

I really get saddened when I see that someone has been DCd during a race, and Canary has shown absolute dedication to Sunday Cup by turning up for regular practice, and every race, even though he has been DCd in every full race. Hes even gone a bought a G27 now, so I really hope we can get this sorted. I have awarded Canary with full points for last nights race.

Also, Love the Avatar pic Canary.

Right then, onto the race...........

After a slight delay to qualifying, we got under way with the race, and I was surprised to find myself 4th on the grid. Could I make it work? Got of to a great start, through turn 1 and away down the mountain straight. Weescotman got off to a flyer, leaving Soka, Capt D and myself close together. Coming into Skyline, Soka went off, and I was left with the Captain for several laps, managing to only get past him once down the mountain straight, only to be re passed on the Conrad straight. As the laps went by, I lost the slip of Capt D, and slowly he got further away, BUT, what was this? I was in third place, with a big gap between myself, and the battle that was going on behind for forth. My grip tightened on my wheel, and I spent several lonely laps concentrating so hard to keep consistent. I made 1 mistake, around lap 10, but still there was a massive gap, and I was still in third. I chose to pit after lap 17, as the times were really dropping off, and was surprised to see Weescotman still in the pits. Then Suddenly, Soka was in on the mix aswell, and Will went off, and I was still in third. Pressure was on. Could I get on the podium. As the laps reached the 20's I could see a car gaining on the mini map. lap 21, closer. Lap 22, closer still. Lap 23, close enough to see it was a pink colour, and I knew I was going to have to dig deep. Lap 24, and Warren was bearing down on me, cutting seconds off my pace. My heart was racing, as I tried to hold him off, but he got me on the Conrad straight. I tried to keep with him after the kink, but made my second mistake, and went off at the end of the chase. I did manage to avoid the gravel, and got back on track, to come home 4th. Still well pleased with that. For me, this race was a slow burner, with an exhilarating finish. Well done guys.

Now the results.

As we all soak in the race memories and stare at the champ standings page (forever!, I still stay in the same position)

Not wanting to move things on so quickly, just wanting to invigorate some discussion and observations regarding our next track, Nurburgring GP.

image.jpg

Devils advocate mode= do we foresee any problems, requirement of special attention for the right hander/exit of the Mercedes Arena, onto the straight for Valvoline Kurve. Although the track has a kerb here representing track limit, invariably you go off track (as it were) as is usually the better line.

Most races I see here everyone goes this line and the track has pretty much been widened because of it. Plus I never see any penalties regarding it IRL.

Remember, I'm only bringing this up for discussion (if there is any)

Not concerned for quali abuse, just wondering if any racing advantage could be gained here? Or have I highlighted something that is very insignificant?

Sure Capt., ADE and the early testers will find out swiftly.

You may have to invest in a new camera BO! Gary's even got the hillside logo in. Great stuff guys.

Well done Cpt D for the win, soka and theewar for their podiums

This track is like a rollercoaster; exhilarating, but one which I didn't get enough practice on. One practice session and a few laps before the race session were not enough, but considering the very low mileage on my car/circuit combo I was moderately happy with my pace, but I was never expecting much from the race here so kept my aspirations firmly in check. I hastily applied Ade's set up before the race (cheers for that mate!) and a few practice laps showed this to be more stable so that was one thing at least.

I got a good start off the line and tried to make ground on scholesy on the outside, but was perhaps a little ambitious and got a wheel on the grass, thus performing a graceful double pirroette! Hopefully that will make the replay! ;) Then I was dead last, but started to make up some ground on the first lap, but saw some smoke ahead and ploughed into Canary who'd just had an off into the kitty litter and back onto the track in front of me.

Then followed Rosen for a while, got past and was behind scholesy for a couple of laps until about mid distance when I started making some mistakes as the tyres lost grip.

That was pretty much where I stayed, but caught sight of scholesy again in the last few laps and had some fun chasing him down on the harder tyres, but ran out of laps.

Hoping for better things at the next race, but it's a shame I'm just not able to devote more time on these circuits, especially those that I don't know very well. It's just stopping me from developing as much as I could if I could join the practice sessions more often. My win at Monza shows I have some fundamental pace deep down, but I don't give myself enough time to unlock it more often than not.

But, my cars are all very low mileage, anyone wanna buy them afterwards, one careful owner, fsh, low miles etc etc lol! :D

I thought for definite you were gonna come past while I was in the pits for the second time, bloody menu.

Did we touch slightly at the first corner? Being on the left side of the grid, I made sure I hugged the kerb at the first left hander, as that corner's strange crown camber throws you to the outside. Hope it didn't engineer the pirouette.

My sentiments exactly regarding time on track. Wish I could devote more.

So far...I've had one off per race. The thing is, it's always been within the first 5 laps. My goal for the remaining three is to break through this threshold, try to consolidate my position and not panic so much when in amongst the big boys early doors. Think a few of you got to see this first hand as I clipped the kerb after Conrod Straight, then, if I do say myself admirably almost saved it. It's a bit of a blur but I'm sure GoodWolf and 2 others were there that I may have collected trying to save the situation. Fill me in with any comments etc. even if to vent your spleen at me.

As I said, consolidate, as those champions league positions are only separated by a few points. Woohoo!

(Scholesy! Remember you've retired. There's no need to think about football any longer. You ginga tw*t)

A genuinely unexpected win for me at Bathurst. Leading up to the race I was unhappy with my lap times during practice, with Warren and Will putting in a really quick pace, but, come race day it all came together and had a good qualification. Race start and Will pulled away from pole and immediately gapped the rest of the chasing pack, leaving SoKa, Ade and myself to dispute second. Ade has already described the events that followed thereafter, so I settled down to chase Will, but quickly realised I wouldn't catch him unless he made a big mistake and I didn't. A quiet race from then on until I noticed Will had dropped a position and then a couple more, what had happened? Pit stop time and I'd expected to be overtaken whilst stopped, assuming some had elected to pit earlier, but no, out of the pits and into a healthy lead with SoKa second. I knew that Warren was on a different tyre strategy which was working for him as he climbed through the positions on his fresh sport softs as the rest of us struggled on the mediums, earning him third at the finish.

Congratulations to SoKa for second and Warren for third, and everybody for taking on that Mountain!:cheers:

Pictures.

Awesome pics Captain, and thanks for capturing the pic of the day shot for Cobani.

Now we move onto Germany for the 6th round. Sholesy and Will have both raised points about track boundaries, and these will be discussed during early test runs this week. I hope to be able to get on tonight for a few laps, but Tuesdays are usually busy for me after race weekends, so if not, I will be on tomorrow.
