Great practice tonight, with a few new PBs. We also ran a 5 lap race with pit stop and tyre change, which didnt throw up any surprises. There will be a NO PASS ZONE at this race, where racers are not permitted to overtake, no matter what. This zone starts at the Audi bridge before the downhill section, and ends after the hairpin at the bottom before the straight.

Practice will resume during the week, and I will post when I am going to open a lobby.

Thanks Ade!👍
This will save everyone's race. It's really difficult to fight someone there without getting out of shape.

Setup time! I've noticed that this beast of a car oversteers under power (of course), and under braking, so my basic setup involves ways in order to try to avoid these oversteering issues. Another thing I've noticed since the introduction of GT6, is that for some reason, in the ride height department, whenever I set the back end of a car higher than the front end, I get understeer instead of oversteer and vice versa. Ade said something about reverse mechanics the other day, and I'm not sure if he was referring to that, but this has happened with all cars I've used thus far. anyway..
Suspension ride 80 - 150
spring 7.00 - 5.00
dampers 1
roll bars 7
no camber
toe 0.05 - 0.00
brakes 9 - 7

Transmission max 320kph 1 2.699
2 1.779
3 1.346
4 1.058
5 0.855
final 3.800

lsd 20 20 20

I guess there will be some changes with the dampers as I don't have a clear picture about how hard they should be set, and with the rear toe angle as well.

Unless someone crashes surely?

Awesome practice session tonight saw some more times tumble, some new times added, and a new pace setter. 6 racers turned in for times, and 6 new times are highlighted. Theewar smashed into the 08's, Sholesy put in a first time in the 11's, and everyone else managed new PBs. Hopefully I will be on tomorrow from 8.30pm for some more.

Did setup help at all? Does anyone have any other setup suggestions? A lot of track improvement I see..!

Your setup is a great starting point and as your PB time shows 2:09.097...its got the ability to do great times. But like I said, starting point...one tune fits all is never going to be a thing..This Bathurst track is a big track but in reality there is one part of it that all your time is made or lost..The Mountain....and perhaps the right hand kink....or balls out as I call it..

true, and the Bathurst track - it's a good way of describing its trickiness. Although, by suggestions I meant your thoughts on what the car feels around the track, for example, do you think dampers maybe need to be harder in front/rear? What are your thoughts on stability? Have you noticed any changes that you did to the car that made it just a bit more stable? Did you notice any difference when you changed the rear toe angle? What about the gears? From your experience so far on the track, do you think it's a good way to go for longer gearing or shorter? You know, stuff like that. It think it helps a lot when everyone share their thoughts on these kinds of things. Who knows? Maybe if we continuously contribute on the subject, times might be sliced even further for all!

Thanks to drivingfast.Net for the Image. The flowchart at the bottom of the page is a great help when trying to figure out what the car is doing and what needs change.Hope this helps you guys. http://www.drivingfast.net/car-control/oversteer.htm

I tried the set up, earlier in the week, and whilst I found it to be very fast around some of the turns, I wasnt as comfortable with it as the tune I have been getting used to, and making slight adjustments to. Maybe a combination of your ride height and spring rates, coupled with the damper settings I am using would give some results. For now though, Im going to stick with what I have got used to. Heres my suspension...

My gear box is very simple. Start with default, then set the final all the way to the right. Then set the max speed all the way to the left. Then bring the final down to 3.050. Leave all the gears at what they are.

A great impromptu practice last night saw some more PBs.

Happy Birthday King Ade!

Thanks Rosen. 👍👍

Last nights practice had to be abandoned by me, as connection issues gave us a few problems. When I rebooted my PS3, it wouldnt read the GT6 disc, a problem that I have had for a while. I think its the blu ray laser struggling to read the dual layer disc, and after many attempts, it still wouldnt load. So I bit the bullet, and bought the download version from the store.

Practice will resume tonight from 8.30pm, and I hope to be able to crack into the 09's, although as the evening goes on, this will become more unlikely.

There's some reasonable vids for cleaning inside and the lens etc. on the tube. I did and it worked a treat when I got same on GT5. Not had it since, I now periodically do what the vids say by cleaning fan etc.

For any other games you play at least.........mmmmm. You only play GT. It works though.

Just need a security type star Allen key, can't remember what size.

I was gonna link one but I don't know if against AUP.

Just search 'cleaning PS3 blu-ray lens' in youtube.

Somethings come up guys so tonight will be a no show from myself, normal service will resume tomorrow, catch you all later.

It was only GT6 which was giving me the pain loading up. Been going on for a while, and when I searched, the answers I found said my blu ray laser was the problem. All other games load straight away, its only GT6 that doesnt, but the disc loads ok on my sons PS3. Dual layer blu ray disc. Pffft. I bought a lens cleaning kit, but no difference. So I could have bought a new laser or blu ray drive, but that would have cost , and taken a while, and no sure guarantee it would work. So the PSN download was the best option. All done now.

I'll be on a bit later so I might pop in for an hour or so.👍

Your always welcome Geordie. 👍👍👍

Awesome Friday practice saw even more times trimmed down. I managed to achieve my goal of getting into the 09's early on, before the Jim Beam impaired my ability. Cobani also added his first time to the table, and Capt D also cracked the 09's aswell. The lap count has now been set, and this race will be all about consistency, and keeping the car out of the gravel. Tonight will be final practice for tomorrows race, and the lobby will be open from 8.00pm.
