I literally posted an answer to this in another thread.I am so over this "campaign"... it's just not fun if you have to be the WAY better driver (means it's not competitive) to catch up from 20th to 1st everytime.
The answer is that Gran Turismo campaigns are not set up as races. The AI does not race you, or the other AI. The game is set up to do what players enjoy the most, which is passing other cars. So, where people think they are "racing" all they are really doing is progressing through stages of catching and passing the cars ahead of them.
Yes, yes this is EXACTLY the point.Or you'll have to balance it with your PP, often resulting in a much faster car, which can't really be the point, can it?
You are meant to buy a car, and pump it up, to beat the "race". But it's just a time limit thing. Like the licenses, or the track experience, or the missions, it is really just about finishing the race within a predetermined time. If you can do that, you win.
If you pay close attention, and forget the illusion of there being in a race, you will see that it's just a parade.
Why no qualifying? Why is the AI still on PS2 levels?
There's no qualifying, because there is nothing to qualify against, because there is no "race".
And this brings me to what annoys me. The constant reminder that they didn't care.
