How do you call a girl brony? My 20 y/o sister really liked this show. And she watched 14 episodes in a single day!

This image pretty much describes how I became a brony and grew to love and tolerate the ponies. It probably applies to most of you guys here too.

Its a corny internet joke. Basically, the words that proceeded the *shot* part were so tasteless and/or unfunny that the person who said them should be shot for it.
Its the message board equivalent of a rimshot, more or less.

A little different for me. I went into it knowing I was going to love it, mostly because I didn't get into it until the season was already halfway over and the show had already taken over the internet. But it still took a few episodes to take root.

^ same for me.
At first I thought this thread was a joke, but after ignoring it for a few weeks I decided to find out why it had held its position at the top for so long.
So after reading the thread I knew I would like it when I clicked play on the first episode. And my only regret is not giving it a chance sooner.

Ah! Now that explains everything!:)

Darn, Tornado. I can't unsee that now.

Well, I see "it" if I follow the instructions, but I can't un-unsee "it"... wait, what? (6_9)

I don't know what you'd call a girl brony, though I'm sure there is a word...

Strange, no one mentioned brony girls EVER!

Nah, for me, 'twas more like...

"Well, I've heard all about this, might as well..."

"WOAH. THE WORK SHOWS."

"Okay, that wasn't bad..."

*two weeks pass...*

"hm. They just posted the latest ep on GTP, might as well..."

"Pinkie Pie went crazy."

"That's it. I'm hooked."

It was Pinkie. Totally Pinkie.

Just as she planned.

First I came across a few MLP macro images as far back as December, but I just completely ignored them. Then sometime in February I decided to go on 4chan (can't remember why), which is where I came across the various 'My Little Pony' threads. I didn't take much notice of it until the end of March when I saw a bunch of MLP parodies on YouTube, so I decided that I should watch a random episode all of the way through (Griffon the Brush-off).
That's when I realised, I liked it.

Also, the advent of the MLP thread here on GTP was part of the reason why I decided to watch all of the episodes from the very beginning of the series.

I noticed MLP here at GTP. Until then I didn't even knew there was a new series.

I like cartoons and give a chance to all of them and MLP was no different (even though I knew it might suck as previous series many years ago).

As soon as I saw Twilight Sparkle with Spike I was hooked. That and the way its drawn; just brilliant.

And then there are the other ponies, the scenery, the jokes, the script, the cutie mark crusaders, the unpredictable madness... how could I stop?

My story is a little different from that too. I'm a member of three different forums including this one, and I had seen the pony stuff take over one of them through avatars and signatures and whatnot. I ignored it, cause I figured, whatever. I don't usually get involved in memes, so meh.

A thread had popped up at the end of February on that same forum about the show, but I didn't connect that dots until the middle of March or so. I lurked it for a while when I found out what it was, and was generally interested in it when I saw this video of it that I found hilarious (from A Dog and Pony Show). But not interested enough in it to hunt for episodes, or even find out when it was actually on TV.

It wasn't shame or any of the typical "why am I watching this" reasons that are typically used (for the record, this was a Sonic forum, so shame simply does not apply to anything that occurs within). It was just... laziness.

Then when I was lurking the thread I saw someone mention why people shouldn't be interested in the show because it is/was merchandise driven and not a real cartoon show (basically the same argument as what that editorial parroted back in October that 4Chan went nuts over, though I didn't know this at the time). I knew that was nonsense even though I hadn't watched any of it, because there hasn't been a cartoon show that wasn't at least mostly merchandise driven since 1982. And the ones that weren't didn't last long.

So I commented on that. And then I watched that member devolve into a screaming crazy person as he came up with increasingly futile reasons why it shouldn't be watched, none of which were particularly hard for me to refute even though I hadn't seen a single episode.

At this point, I figured anything that pisses someone off that much simply has to be worth seeing, so I read up a bit more on it and went into an episode (the specific episode was The Ticket Master) with no preconceived notions about whether it was appropriate or whatever for me to be watching it (because, again, Sonic fanbase. It also helps that I knew literally nothing about MLP before I heard about the show other than that Robot Chicken sketch). I saw Lauren Faust attached to it, and I remembered her work from The PPG after McCracken left the show. I found out that it was on Hub (which I already got, and had been watching at nights already so I could see old Batman episodes), so I went and set it to tape every episode. The rest, as they say, is history.

So, tl;dr, I got into MLP: FiM mostly so I could troll people who seemed particularly adamant about hating it. So, remember, Friendship is Magic!

EDIT: ^I wouldn't be surprised if that's how most people got into it. I know several people who got into this just to troll and then ended up getting in too deep and then became true Bronies.

I just ordered this mug.

From here http://www.cafepress.com/TangibleCute
It will arrive in June...I hope in one peace.

Me too. I only glanced over the site once or twice and didn't realize I could get a mug like that.
It was a close call between that and "20% Cooler".

Wouldn't a coffee mug that promised to make things 20% Cooler be counterproductive (says the guy who just bought a sweatshirt with 20% Cooler on it)?

This "Reaction Picture" album has started something on my Facebook. I've used about half of them on my friend's status'.

What.%20The.%20F.jpg

I couldn't stop laughing at this. The most random thing I've ever seen.

Making use of the pony image cache I see.

I know this has already been uploaded to Picasa, but I'll add it here anyway:

If Skoda marketed their cars like this, then sales would go through the roof
Actually it would only work for the Skoda Octavia, seeing as the pony in the above image is herself called Octavia.

EDIT: uploading some caption pics right now, here's a sample:

Damn, if this were Rainbow Dash I would have been able to make a comment about The Legend of Zelde Celestia being 20% Cooler.

Oh well, still awesome.

I'm actually the one who uploaded this;

So I'm not sure if everyone got it because I doubt most of you watch Aqua Teen Hunger Force, but here's a clip explaining it.

There's a bit of bad language, but nothing too strong.
I wish there was a better clip to explain why this is awesome to me, but this is the best I could find.

I suggest reading The Night That Never Ended. I'm up to chapter 6 so far (the most recent one). Its certainly depressing, but it is well-written. An interesting idea to tie it together, too. I don't even want to call it GrimDark, really, because that doesn't seem like the right moniker.

I would say its kinda like the MLP equivalent to SatAM, but I imagine Jim Prower would be the only one who would understand using that as a metaphor.

Edit: And if that one is too "serious" for you, here is one about Princess Luna attempting to use a microwave. The sequel of which contains this awesome line:

“Little sister loves her abacus, does she? Well, why don't I just... SEND IT TO THE MOON! MWAHAHAHAHAHA!”

“No! Why would you do this Big Sister?” Sobbed Luna.

“Aw, is little baby sister going to cry? Going to cry, Little Luna?” Celestia mocked. “Maybe I’ll send you to the moon too, along with my toaster, my oven and my MICROWAVE!”

“NO! NOT THE MOON AGAIN!”
