On PC, I recommend to try these games:
- GTR Revo. (with T500 Profile N°02)
- iRacing
- Richard Burns Rally

On these games with T500 RS, ForceFeedback is absolutely fabulous

Seconded. (with a little fix to the above) GTR2 is also fantastic out of the box. And the T500 is still working fine. I am still at firmware v32. I am afraid to mess with a good thing.

Is the consensus that these QC issues are a tiny minority or more widespread?

Its very difficult to say, I don't think anyone knows how many units were actually sold and of course there is the expected forum bias where a larger proportion of people who have problems tend to make posts vs. ones that have no problems at all.

I have an open ticket right now about the fan noise issue. This I think is one of the most frequent issues. I'd say my fan right now gets loud upon startup about 30% of the time, then it settles down to its normal noise after about 30 sec to a minute. My initial guess was that the fan was hitting something, but that doesn't make sense in light of the current behavior.

I've developed two additional problems since then:

- just once, my wheel got stuck in a calibration loop on PS3 startup just like somebody previously reported here. It fixed itself immediately when the calibration was re-initiated upon starting GT5.

- my wheel now appears to center itself about a degree or two to the right of dead center, I think one or two people have previously reported this too.

I have recieved 4 e-mails from TM and Hercules about my issue. The latest one has a pdf file detailing how to package just the wheel and power adaptor. Detailed invoice and shipping lable printing instructions. The number to call UPS with, to come and pick it up.

TM seems to be doing a good job on making good and caring about these defective units. That is a good thing.

Defects happen, it's how the company responds that makes the situation tolerable. Logitech is great, Fanatec, not so much? Looks like TM is gonna be on the up and up, anyways!

I asked it before, curious about the failure rate. I wonder if it's as bad as Microsoft and their premature release of their current console JUST to beat Sony out of the gates?

Just tried GTR Evolution with the provided profile. Is it just me or does FFB really feel a lot better than GT5? Seems like a whole different level.

It can´t be so stop lying.

Everybody knows that GT5 is superior to every other simulator and has about a billion cores which obviously make it the best.
All that nonsense about PC sims providing a more realistic and better feedback than GT5 is utter BS...

Impossible to say this early in the game. Believe it or not, XBOX360 had a pretty low return rate at first, it wasn't until a few months in they all started blowing up. 👎

Not sure if you can count this as a failure rate, however I have two Fry's here in Georgia. First wheel, the buttons didn't work, second wheel, the force feeback didn't work. That cleaned out one store. Third wheel everything worked however I started getting a burning smell from the fan after about 10 hours of use. On my fourth wheel, so far so good, however that's it for the other Fry's store. Serial numbers on the four units were close in numbers so I'm assuming the first batch has some issues.

Yes Deano, unfortunately that's definitely defective. I looks like we are somewhere around 3/4 in this thread alone!

I really tried to not go there again but you see, i have "alien hand syndrome" so i can´t control them sometimes ;)

Funny thing is that AHS is a real thing. Some people have had their own hand unbutton their shirt etc :D

Sorry for the OT, Can anyone please post up a video doing some laps in Iracing?
A bumpy track if possible to really showcase the fidelity.

Right. Many PS3 fans were mocking the 360's RROD... but then YLOD seemed to begin to hit at the 3 year mark...

My 60GB PS3 has been running for four years now. I did do some maintenance a few months back but you really should do maintenance on a high power computer or console. I replaced the thermal paste with GC-Extreme Thermal Compound and it runs like new. Reason is that the heat turns the old thermal paste into powder after many years of use. Most computers come with crap thermal paste anyways so I'm not really surprised.

I cancelled my Amazon order for two reasons.
1. Was going to end up spending close to $1500 for another wheel/chair setup and really shouldn't as winter is nearing it's end, thereby reducing my gaming desire.
2. Wheel seems to have issues, and TM is not logitech when it comes to support as far as I understand.
I'll wait and see what the fall brings as far as products.

Any word from SRT how they are enjoying their T500? Wouldn't it be the darnedest thing if their screaming silence was because their wheel upchucked on them?

;)

Anyway, I hope TM come clean on the real issues and make available what ever fixes are needed - I am loving rFactor and the 1971 F1 mod coupled with the "grinding transmission" plugin with the T500 & CSP's - the lack of an H-shifter us getting really annoying and still not a peep from Fanatec about the whereabouts of my long-ago paid for shifter.

I am working on a FFB shifter using my old MS FFB joystick and some clever shifter drivers as a standun till TM release their "hopefully greatest shifter ever" shifter :P

Where do we download the T500 RS PC drivers? I looked in the support section of Thrustmaster's site but only saw profiles for GTR Evolution and rfactor; no drivers.

Also, if I want / need to update the firmware on my wheel, where do I download that as well?

Thanks!

I concur 100%. TM/Hercules sure are on the ball as to wanting to get their hands on my burnt up POS.

I disagree, they're just a little behind their work. They promised us the second part of GT5's review in January and we still don't have it. The game came out in November.

These guys have lives and work too. While this wheel's quality may not be the best out there, I'm sure that's not what's keeping them from releasing the review.

You my friend have not a clue as to what I am speaking of.

Mine died just short of it's 3rd birthday. I did the DIY heat gun thing but it only lasted a month. Thinking of getting it reballed but never quite trust it like I used to. Ironically, my xenon 360 still runs. It sounds like a jet on a runway, but still works when I blow the dust off it now and then.

Extremely cautious these days... really like the looks of the T500 but want to see how widespread these issues are.

Got a link to proof of that? I find it very hard to believe that MS took over a billion dollar loss for the sole purpose of beating the launch of PS3, very hard to believe indeed.
