Mr Latte
Nice one...
Well believe all you read good about the wheel.
Your gonna love it.

Ive V2 with no fan issues or odd noises (30 hours + usage) upgraded to latest firmware.
TM customer service though seems much better than Fanatecs which is reassuring and although a pity thats an area they dont seem to of improved on in 2 years.

Shame as I like their stuff and Thomas too but your only as good as your service.

What do you have it set up on ? I currently have the very first playseat but was thinking about a GamePod gt2.

I'm worried the playseat will be a bit unstable and move around.

Any advice greatly received.

I (and RC) have them mounted on the original playseat. I was expecting a disaster, but I'm surprised how well the old fella is holding up. It's by no means perfect, but isn't much worse than with a much lighter wheel (I previously had a DFP). I really like the light weight portability of the original playseat, but I can't say I'm up for any of their newer between the legs designs.

I'm thinking about giving up lightweight portability for Obutto stability and upgradability though. If I buy an Obutto, I know a triple screen setup won't be far behind. :)

Well that's good to know, if you go Obutto let us know what you think?

Cheers

Sorry I forgot to ask you if you had them hard mounted or clamped. If hard mounted did you use a template and where did you get it from?

Does the clamp fit?

Clamped and it's solid as a rock. (with a tissue stuffed under the clamp tightening bar to stop it rattling) :)

Mr. Late:

when you say "fan issues", you want to say the fan of your unit never make any sound?.

_____________

Any user save the V33 firmware?. I´d like to try to downgrade my unit to test if I get any diference.

Thanks.

I would like to give the T500 a test, but the fan noise is holding me off a bit.
Also the lack of a shifter.

Is anyone using the T500 with an additional 3rd party shifter?

On the PC yes. T500 + Fanatec CSP's + ActLABS Shifter here.

A couple of weeks before Amazon finally stocked the T500, Fry's was willing to knock off $70 to offset tax compared to Amazon not charging tax. Considering gas would have cost me $30. Or Amazon charging me $3.99 to ship it next day. Then finding s good window to make the one way trip 2 1/2 HR (on a RARE clear I-80/94 & I-294). In the event of a return, that 5-6 hours + gas would have to be made again. Add the crazy weather my area is prone to. I decided to wait for Amazon.

So, unlike some consumer electronics, retailers have flexibility with the T500.

That Fry's store is the Downers Grove location. I'm in Michigan.

Papaspurs, that 2nd video really tells the story!

My comment: Yeah that is much louder than it should be. Noisy or annoying is one thing, but that is a defect! Sounds like a loose screw or a bearing or something. Reminds me of my EHDD's fan when it spazzes out.

Downers Grove, IL? I live about 1h from that store! I may check it out this weekend since my friend wanted to go out that way to the outlet mall. If Fry's can give me a discount I will snag one up! I know that I have seen some online for $560 (no shipping charge - not sure about sales tax).
:)

I have a GamePOD, clamp is okay but best to hardmount it.
They are a good cockpit and have new upcoming extras for shifters etc.

Although if you want advice Id say see about building your own and deffo add in minimium 3x Buttkickers using L/R/LFE channels.
They add a lot to the entertainment value. Triple screens is by far though the biggest upgrade you can get in GT5.
Out of everything it is my favourite thing as it totally transforms the game.

Well it doesnt sound odd and not any noiser than id expect or compared to a projecter even Fanatec wheel.
My Fanatec wheel fan decides every so often to rattle.

So I understand anyones concerns or annoyances with these issues.

Well followers of this thread might remember I purchased some SPARCO pedals before the wheel was due to arrive.
SPARCO PEDALS 0378703

The good news is that I was able to fit these pedals with no issues and without any altering just swap them over with the originals. Holes align with no problems. These were approx £25 in UK.

Do take note various motorsport pedals will have different mounting requirements and wont fit.

These Sparco "0378703" are a BIG improvememnt over the original pedals having a nice grippy rubber backing that pops up through the metal pedal plate by about 4mm giving improved pedal contact.

Received my T500 yesterday and confirms that some "Tunings Pedals Pads" are directly "Plug & Play" on Thrustmaster pedal set 👍

They can only go in GT style as the wheel arm needs to come through the pedal set.

Can you show me a picture as I thought they could only go f1 style. I'm feel im getting confused in all the excitement.

Cheers

Hey guys.
I need your suggestions..
I want to buy a Shifter.. Should I wait for the official Thrustmaster Shifter? Or should I wait for the ClubSport Shifter from Fanatec? Or should I buy one which is already on the market? I saw the Lightning SST and the Act Labs RS Shifter. Which one is better? The Act Labs has a better price and a sequential option.. The SST has a shorter and faster way to shift..

Hope you can give me some useful tips :)

Thanks in advance

I personally would want the best h pattern available, on that I don't know which one is best.

Seq shifting is best done at the paddles. IMO.

Wish something would come around allowing us to use even a g27 shifter till Trustmasters comes through.

I am not satisfied with the clamp. To much tilting from front to rear mounted on the GP GT2 deck. I know I could just shim it with 2 inch or so rubber block. My question here (and I did search for it) is I could have sworn there was a drilling template posted in this thread. Could someone please provide the link or post?
Thanks, Vince

Looks excellent, is everyting hardmounted & was it easy to attach to the Visionracer.

Thank you .

Yes it was very easy . I drilled the top plate for the wheel and secured down the wheel with 6mm roofing bolts (big pan head) . Its not going anywhere , and is very stable. The claw fits but it may irritate your knees.

The pedals do overhang the original pedal plate slightly but i had on hand more 6 mm roofing bolts and some 6mm penny washer and locknuts. 2 of these drilled and fixed through the pedal plate and pedal set and it is rock steady.

I also mounted the Buttkicker under the seat in the same way.

Took me 1 hr complete these minor adjustments

Well, really I had the first version of Porsche 911 Turbo Wheel from Fanatec, and its fan sounds similar to this at the top speed, but that required more stress (much more time playing) than this to activate.

Today I´ve been trying the wheel with PC games (I´m not a PC gamer, but I wanted to rule it was an issue unique to GT5). After 35 min. the fan has started to work at top speed (and top sound... ). After this, playing GT5, the fan stop at start again each 15 - 20 min.

I don´t say this is a fail, but for me this level of noise playing is a problem. I have been considering to return or change the wheel for another model, but really I love it (for all, except for the fan sound); this wheel conveys the feelings of the professional wheels at a reasonable price (I have paid 400 € including VAT and shipment for it).

But I can´t understand why any of the reviews I read before to bought it didn´t sign its fan noise level as a negative point: or they didn´t play enought to get this noise, or with previous firmware versions the fan got top speed later (or just do not care... ).

I wish to try if with firm V33 this was so, because the V35 features don´t include any new, and I think Thrustmaster has modified the fan parameter to prevent engine-burning. But I dont know if the wheel can be downgraded, and I haven´t got that version of firmware.

Someone save it?.

I have an original T500 still on delivery firmware. My second one in fact. The first and this one make a horrid PC-box fan with blown bearing sound after 20 minutes playing. It is inherent in the poor quality hardware and workmanship of this Chinese assembled gadget.

I did on fact report this fan behaviour way back when in the 1st week of January, but was chastised for being a whining loser that lives in his mom's basement - now complaining about the fan is all the rage ;)

RC45:

I come along this thread and your comments with particular interest. I've never criticized nobody. You know that I have formulated some questions, and you has always responded to me with interest. To me your posts has been the main source of information about this wheel.

I've seen the video with the sound of the fan on your first unit several times, and mine does not sounds like (a broken).

But I admit I lost the thread of your comments the last few weeks, and I dont know if you received a replacement unit that does not have this problem.

If you have been, could you confirm that your new wheel also turns the fan at top speed every 20 minutes, but without that odd (defective) sound?.
