Interesting Raudi.

Nice for more user opinions.
However playing with one wheel at max FFB and the other at 1/2 potential, you would assume then to notice differences. If he tried both at max or both at min for perhaps a more balanced comparison for FFB.

Look forward to more from Raudi.
How many users have ended up using inverted pedals?
The pedals to me feel pretty good with the hardest setting as that's similar to how I had my CSP configured. Pedals are also much further apart on the T500 while CSP is only about half the spacing at approx 35mm.

Raudi, I've also a Fanatec GT3 & T500RS. Important point if you want truly compared these 2 wheels on GT5:

1) You must install patch 1.06 (or more) and disable all driving helps

2) You must put ForceFeedback at 10 (and not at 5 like on your previous test). This point is very important to compared Forcefeedback capability of these 2 wheels.

3) You must try in 3 different roads: Asphalt + Snow + Rally

Without this, your test will be wrong 👍

NB: Of course I highly recommends to compared on PC (where the difference is enormous between these 2 wheel). For this, the best is to try GTR Evo (or RaceOn) with "Profile 2" here: http://ts.thrustmaster.com/eng/index.php?pg=view_files&gid=1&fid=2&pid=316&cid=12. Result is just crazy

1. I'm using the latest GT5 patch and all aids off except ABS 1

2. I should have mentioned that I set in game FFB to 10 for both wheels for the first couple of rounds of testing and then switched to 5 to compare. I also tried turning on power steering to see if the T500RS would feel more similar to Drift mode 2 on Fanatec PWTS.

3. I forgot to list Sebastian Loeb Special Rally event @ Eiger as 1 of my test tracks - did not try snow. PWTS FFB was definitely stronger on this track as well over the bumps, but I can't decide which felt more realistic as I have no personal experience driving on dirt rally tracks (only tarmac tracks) - LOL

The point of my testing was to start all the wheels off with similar settings to compare and then tweak the settings in game and take advantage of any customizations available on the wheels to get the very best FFB feel possible in order to gain a different perspective than what some of the review sites did with just basic settings.

It's important to note that I had recently downgraded my Fanatec PWTS firmware to try and get back the lively FFB feeling that I remembered when I had first started playing the game. (particularly with special event races). After downgrading from 6.81 > 6.14 the lively FFB feeling was back! I later tried 669 UE and it was also great, so I have left it there for now. (It seems like the FFB effects were severely dampened around the center with the 6.81 FW in GT5)

I plan to test some PC racing games today as I have, Race 07 / GTR EVO, F1 2010 and just picked up NFS Shift 1 and spent a couple of hours installing the Overhaul 2 mods.

Interesting, have you tried setting up a 2player split screen in GT5 to help compare wheels together as Player 1/2 rather than try one then remember how one felt to the other. Or of course if you had 2x consoles / screens.

Also important to use the same car of course.
My Fanatec went faulty sometime ago (again) so hard for me to compare to the PWTS.

Does it mean that PWTS is extremely stronger than GT3 RS??? Because if I made the same test on this special Rally event (with ForceFeedback at 10 for both wheels) then GT3 is around 3x less powerful than T500. Something is strange

Fanatec PWTS and GT3RS FFB Strength should be similar, but it depends on your settings and firmware....here's a video I just made, compare for yourself!

Sebatien Loeb Special Event - Eiger

Ok thanks! So it's confirm: very weak ForceFeedback (same on PWTS than GT3) compared to T500 RS 👍 Easily to see it especially when you released your hand from the wheel = wheel oscillates alone on the center (deadzone problem) & speed auto-center is very low.

Actually the PWTS has stronger FFB on this track than T500RS....The Fanatec 6.81 firmware does add more "deadzone" and mutes the FFB around center but I prefer to have more feedback from the wheel and can adjust with the PWTS menu. Like I said the feel is different between the two wheels, so it will be subjective for each person.

Impossible that your pwts has more ffb than the t500 rs. I have a fanatec and the t500 rs and the t500 rs has muuuuch more ffb than the fanatec. So it seems that something in your wheel is broken so that your ffb effects are less hard.. This is an issue! Contact tm, they will send you a new wheel for sure ;)

Ok understand now:sly: T500 RS have any dead-zone on the center (just like in real car). So there is any bad oscillation on the center = it's normal & really better 👍

Please also compared ForceFeedback speed:

I re-checked my in game FFB settings and that last change back to 10 for the T500RS video did not take (was still at 5). I re-ran it again and it's definitely stronger and on par with the PWTS (without the oscillation) :sly:

I can easily dial down the oscillation at center on my PWTS by upping the rotation from 700 > 900 degrees on the wheel menu or I could upgrade the firwmare to 6.81, it's not as bad as it looks if you grip the wheel tight - LOL! I generally only race Super GT cars or tuned production cars online so it's not a problem with those cars on tarmac.

I tried that Daytona spin test and my T500RS behaves similar - ie: very fast rotation / return to center.

GTR Evo with "T500 profile 2" is enormous! It's a must have :dopey:

The same on iracing, Richard Burns Rally, netKar PRO 1.0.3.

Very good also for drifting on Live For Speed:

Cool, I have that downloaded and will try it with GTR EVO!

Testing 70mm adapter:

:)

I recorded some Richard Burns Rally with my T500RS because I could not find any online.

I made sure to have low ambient sound so we could hear the wheel in action. Some of the plastic "creaking" is from the G25 brake pedal with Nixim mod.

**They are in HD if you open on youtube page instead of embeded video

This video I've set the wheel at 1080 degrees to show how well it reacts to RBR FFB output. Most of the time it spins fast enough to catch the end of the car.

I tried to identify the fan this afternoon by trying to remove the top cover (it seemed possible to do from the top at first... but I ended up with 1 un-removeable screw...)

What I got is:

(MAKE IS HERE)
model:cc6010h12s
DC 12V 0.20A
sleeve bearing

This is from looking through the fan air holes with a flashlight.

Thank you, Druneau. Good job.

Kuato,

Can you illustrate or link to give details on the 70mm adapter you used and proceedures you went through.

Have you assigned PS3 buttons to the new wheel for PS3 usage or PC only?
Just curious to what all you did.

Surely that adapter will be sold made out of billet alloy. ;)

Give this about a week and there will be more AWESOMENESS!!!

I dont belive those buttons and dials can be used on PS3. they're to my recollection PC Only

I knew it wouldnt take too long. It looks fk'n awesome.

Did Thrustmaster publish any change log or release notes for all of the firmware updates so far?

My wheel came with version 31 and no issues so far playing GT5, GTR EVO and F1 2010 - I'm curious to know what changes were made before I decide to upgrade or not.

Anyone that upgraded from 31 to 35 notice any differences?

"if it ain't broke, don't fix it" :nervous:

I think it has no sense to lose the warranty and all the buttons to win 2 cm. of diameter, because the touch, thickness of the rim, and feeling of the original wheel is great (is my opinion... ).

The set up lends itself useful when doing PC racing.

This type of setup would be of no use for PS3. Beings none of telemetry or gizmos will work.

While you are valid in your assessment. Others uses and needs are different.

notes are on http://ts.thrustmaster.com/eng/index.php?pg=view_files&gid=3&fid=15&pid=317&cid=15

mine is updated v35 and fine

One question: why the clutch and gas pedals comes with holes to set the travel if the pack includes one metal stop only?.

Could be Thrustmaster planing to include any kind of "regresive resistance mod" for the clutch with the T500 shifter?.

Would be a great idea!.

Today I have had an strange issue: playing GT5 -> Arcade -> Pro -> Monza -> Castrol Supra (premiun), I have got a high force feedback strengh, having set the ff to 3 only. After this I have been trying this same combination with ff set to 1 and 10, and in level 3 the ff was harder than 10... ¿¿?? :odd:

Yeah I mentioned that sometime ago, we will have to wait and see.
They haven't went to that bother for nothing and no review picked up on it.
2x more adapters with foam and different springs would be nice.

A mod I would like to see is these pedals working on Fanatec. Mainly for the reason of FM4. The T500 has a special moulded RJ12 cable end with the nub part at the side and not centre. Needs further investigation but it could be possible to maybe mod a switch box to allow having PS2 for Fanatec and normal usage with the T500.

Personally if its possible I'd like this so not having to swap wheel and pedals on a cockpit all the time.

About the FFB need to look into that, keep us posted though...

An update concerning my dead wheel.

I went back and forth with the Thrustmaster support during the past weeks. Wasn't very impressed with them. Once we finally arrived at the point when they believed me the wheel is dead (each reply from them took several days, almost up to a week sometimes), they informed me that I cannot return the wheel directly to them because I live in Switzerland (no idea why) and that I need to go through the retailer I bought it from.

On a more positive note, I mailed Amazon yesterday evening and they replied that same evening with a most pleasurable mail. They apologized for the wheel's failure and (without asking any more questions) created a new order with a brand new wheel that is to be sent to me real soon. Once I get the new wheel I need to send the faulty one back within 30 days and they offered to refund in full the shipping costs thereby incurred (won't be cheap sending to the UK).

Now that's what I call customer service! Wonder why I didn't go through Amazon from the beginning.
