TM have stated that they do not control what rotation is used within the games. They leave that upto the developer.

The problem and I share your concern on this is that developers do not seem keen on making console games in any way technical for the end user. They set the paramaters and the wheel automatically adjusts to them.

I agree GT5 should on such a wheel aimed more at adults allow more control to be available. It seems however if you want that then PC is your destination. Or indeed buy a GT2 and have that when you feel you would like to change rotation with also having support for FM4.

I did have contact with a TM representative a while ago and put the idea forward could they not allow wheel rotation to be changed via the "PS Button Controller Menu" This would allow the change on the fly at any time and while he agreed it would be a good idea he could not comment on it being possible as again each developer would have to have their title work with that.

T500RS on console games it seems will always be restricted.

it wouldn't be too much work to update GT5 car database with one extra field: wheel rotation value. (set default to real world values)

That value can then be read out by controllers; so it would be the game that sets the correct wheel lock depending on the car you're in.

Lack of such a feature this is a pretty bad oversight imho. In an F1 car the DFP is far superior to T500, only because it has manual 250° lock.

I thought that already happened in GT5, race cars have different wheel rotation from road car and F1s

I've bought & tried this afternoon netKPro 1.3: result with T500 is really great 👍 (especially with Ks Vintage car and with rotation angle at 1080° :dopey:)

You know, I originally expected that the non-adjustable rotation lock would be an issue, but I drive with both hands at 9-3 and the only times I have ever had to take my hands from that position are when I've gone off track or something crazy happens. During normal cornering, even for hairpins, I have not ever been left wanting to turn the wheel more than the 180 allowed by the two hand grip, across a variety of cars. Even though there is no variation in hard wheel lock, GT5 definitely seems to incorporate different steering ratios between cars.

I contacted TM about the loud knocking/cracking sound coming from the motor. They said it was abnormal and offered to assist me with the issue. However, I decided to send my wheel back to Amazon and my replacement will be here tomorrow. Amazon has great customer service so if you are planning to buy this wheel, try Amazon.

Wow, I'm surprised this thread is still pretty active!
I'm sorry for being absent for the past two or three months, I've had no time at all to edit the thread.
I'm glad you guys are still discussing! Keep it up! 👍

If by "discussing" you mean mainly "arguing like children" then you're spot on!

You've created a monster... lol

I received my replacement wheel from Amazon this morning.
My first wheel was a V1 but the replacement is a V2.
What I can say is there is no difference in appearance between the two.
However when calibrating, the V2 wheel is a lot louder but only when moving counter-clockwise/left side. I also don't think this has anything to do with whether its a V1 or V2 though.
The fan sounds pretty much the same for both wheels and come on at about the same time.
Pedal set-up is all the same.
The firmware wasn't even updated either.
Another thing to note is that the 2 box that actually contains the wheel was opened and resealed, I believe by TM.
But everything is brand new.
So what I am assuming is that for the V2, TM changed something inside the wheel.
I'm not 100% sure but my V1 wheel felt a little heavier than the V2 wheel.

All I hope is that this time around I won't have anymore issues.

Hey.
When you have problems with the mode button you can upgrade your firmware. Then you have to push the mode button one second to change the type of pedals.

Thanks for the info. I only play GT5, only use the wheel on the ps3.

If I download the firmware and upgrade via connection of wheel to pc will the new settings work on the ps3?

And if I set wheel rotation via the pc console will that rotation setting remain true when reconnected to the ps3?

Any news or spy photos of what the shifter is going to be like? Maybe comes with a built in handbrake?

And if I set wheel rotation via the pc console will that rotation setting remain true when reconnected to the ps3?

The rotation settings are not saved in the firmware, only in the PC control panel.

I wouldn't mess with any of the settings, but the Firmware update definately made a difference for me on GT5. It felt smoother, and the wheel centered itself perfect, rather than slightly to the left, as it tended to when I first bought it.

can you flash it again with the latest firmware?
that might reset the values
I tried, but retains the last stored (at least that I found).

I could try to save an exaggerated value (with very twisted wheel) to test, but instructions say that not to repeat the operation many times, so I prefer not to risk it.

Just a quick question to owners.

When driving the Red bull does the wheel oscillate like the G27. Or is there no oscillation present in GT5 with this wheel?

Just curious.

Thanks.

I saw one post or review somewhere that made mention of being able to feel the motors brushes or some kind of a non-smooth feeling coming through the wheel or in the wheel's movment.
I am not shure if I read it on these boards or some review on the web.

So to those of you that have used gear driven wheels like the Logi Momo or the belt driven Fanatec's, where does the Thrustmaster's feel end up ?

Is it more like a hybrid feeling of belt and gear put into one wheel, or was the post/review just wrong or over stating a small motor feel coming through the wheel rim?

If someone whould not mind, could you talk a bit more on this wheels "feel" as far as a gear or belt feeling to it's movment and the vibrations that come through it's rim.
I know it is a belt driven wheel but is that how it realy feels...? Is it a Fanatec like belt driven feel or somthing all it's own ?

Motor brushes are felt a wee bit while self-calibration happens, that too for the movement to the left. TM has given the reasons for this on the support web-site http://ts.thrustmaster.com/download/accessories/Manuals/T500RS/T500RS_wheel_sound.pdf. During game-play It's as smooth as ever, no dead zone at all.

The X1 doesn't oscillate with this wheel. And you can leave the wheel and the car will continue to go straight like a real car would, In my DFGT it would oscillate.

Thanks thomasphoenix,

So it seems this wheel is getting closer to feeling like a REAL car steering wheel and less like a gear or belt driven game peripheral.

I copied Mr Latte and got some Sparco pedals, fit really nice and look and feel way better than the original pedals.. Would reccomend them 👍

Also fitted the brake mod the other day, ended up just using the foam and no spring, feels really nice! Still loving the T500. :D
