What!?, in 3 days?, is that possible thomasphoenix? :odd:. Where is Bangalore?.

It's in India, ordered on the 2nd received on 5th :).

I have both the G27 and DFGT and I have never experienced a problem with either wheel, I think any product can have issues, there have been so many issues and quality problems reported on the Thrustmaster T500 RS and it is billed as a much higher end elite product.

I will most likely get one after I get the new iPad 2, but I think the Logitech products have been pretty reliable, the

Thrustmaster has gotten off to a pretty hit or miss beginning.

Still, don’t get me wrong, I really want one, it is in my future plans, there is a chance that maybe by the time I am ready, they will have exchangeable wheels, pedal plates and so on, who knows!!

Just installed the Brake Mod! The best I got in the nurburgring F1 challenge with the DFGT was 2nd, so I'm not that good, That's what I want to remedy :), I can feel the power of the Thrustmaster T500Rs in some corners, But the table on which I've temporarily mounted the wheel rotates to my right each time I yank the wheel around and I am going into the sand when that happens. I think I will be able to get a honest assessment of my driving skill after I get my Playseat GT5 by the 16th.
This wheel is too strong for a poor coffee table. Will be great if you can upload some videos of your laps on nurburgring.

Honestly I haven't run Nurburgring but a few times. The payout on Suzuka is more with less time, about 16 minutes for 205,000cr and 42,000xp. But now I do run skid on and abs at 1. With the skid off slamming into the turns is damn near impossible. I am sure others will disagree with me and I may get slammed for using skid, but F'em I will do what I want.

My point is that using the brake mod and running an all around better wheel (with a rig that can support it, coffee table not good rig) can actually improve lap times.

because I think you guys block out the fact they are the same, just as you can't compare BMW to Toyota when they are both cars

the only thing you can't compare stat for stat is an airplane to a car even though they are both methods of transportation

noobs

You have got to be $hiting me? This coming form a 16 post veteran. Come on buddy think before you post.

Totally agreed! Waiting for my GT playseat :). I have all Aids off but let me admit it I go for a spin the moment I smell grass.

I don't believe it is unusual for the fan to turn on after an hour, or even a half hour.

z06fun- thank you that is some super informative observation, it explains exactly the idiosyncrasies of the pedal action I noticed a while ago.

If you are ever inclined to illustrate your mod steps in more detail so others can do it I think it would be of great benefit to everybody:tup:

This is the circuit I made up for reducing the dead zone on the pedals
picture.php

This needs to be put inline with the white wire coming from the pedals to the wheel. All other wires go from the pedals to the wheel as normal. I got a connector and jack and wired this circuit in between so I didn't have to do any wire cutting of the T500 pedals. The connector and jack are little hard to find because they have the offset latch. They can be bought here:

pedal jack

This mod is simple to use, you close the switch during pedal cal, then open it for use and dead zone adjustment. I found once I got the pot adjusted to get minimum dead zone I don't generally have to change it each time I use the wheel. If you put some preload on the pots in the pedals to get rid of the gear backlash you could have almost no dead zone at all using this mod.

The first thing that caught my attention was the size of the wheel. I've been using a Driving Force Pro for 6 years now so, as you could imagine, I haven't adjusted to the new wheel yet.
Just like how everyone has stated, the force feed back is very powerful. I have never seen a wheel that could turn so fast with so much power(only in real cars). Sometimes you have to watch your fingers when you crash or spin out. This wheel has also made drifting so much more fun!!
As for the pedals, they look just as awesome as the wheel. They are far better than the Driving Force Pro's pedals. But what I love best about the pedals is the fact that I can now drive without ABS. Before, I had to set ABS to 1 for the Driving Force Pro. Without ABS, driving feels so much better.
Now all we need is a H pattern shifter and this wheel will be the best!!

I did some searching but I haven't quite found an official answer yet but does anyone know which wheelstand propperly supports the t500 rs?

I use the wheel stand pro and find the pedals are a bit uncomfortable on the base. I emailed APIGA (search ebay) and they responded with the measurements of their pedal stand as 38cm (W) x 48cm (L), which will fit the T500RS pedals with no issues. I believe ISR did a review of the APIGA stand also.

That looks like an excellent stand, much better than my Wheelstand Pro.

I didn't find the T500 pedals uncomfortable on it though. But the CSP, on the other hand, didn't feel too great at the flat angle. Hence I attached them on top of the front bar so they're more tilted. Feels pretty good now, just that the less weight from the pedals isn't quite enough. My stand moves away from me slightly the longer I play from the hard breaking.

V2 Pedals Differences?
Switched to GT Mode to have them inverted and noticed that the pedals are also labelled V2. The pedals have 4x Nuts in the pedal arms, maybe Im mistaken but did RC45 mention only 2 on his V1 set with needing to remove if changing pedal positions? All mounting holes have their own nut on the V2. Not sure of any other minor differences.

Well followers of this thread might remember I purchased some SPARCO pedals before the wheel was due to arrive.

The good news is that I was able to fit these pedals with no issues and without any altering just swap them over with the originals. Holes align with no problems. These were approx £25 in UK.

Do take note various motorsport pedals will have different mounting requirements and wont fit.

These Sparco "0378703" are a BIG improvememnt over the original pedals having a nice grippy rubber backing that pops up through the metal pedal plate by about 4mm giving improved pedal contact.

Theirs a bit too much TM branding on the pedals for my liking and I wanted a "Motorsport" branded pair also for looks.

Job done!

The pedals do look sweet. It's a good example of a small investment that brings both good looks and better feel. 👍

Yeah Sparco pedals look good Mr Latte 👍

Got me tempted.. Although I have no probs with the useability of the pedals.. Those sparco ones do look a bit nice. ;) Still loving my T500, It's had a good bit of use today. No probs as yet. 👍

Z06, is there enough wiring to rearrange the brake and clutch positions without having to do any electrical work?

If you could shoot a video of the disassembly process that would be excellent.

G25 wiring structure

Sorry I didn't see this earlier. Actually you can't simply change the pedal oder as you can with the G25 pedals. The T500rs pedals have the main wire from the wheel going to the brake pedal, and it fans out form there to the other 2 pedals. Unfortunately, you can't even easily disconnect the wiring to the pots like the G25 to move pedals because the wires are all soldered directly to the pots. The disassembly of the pedals is really easy actually, once you remove the diamond plate and black cover you have something similar to what you picture above for the G25. Everything is right there easy to access. Its just a lot of screws to remove the back cover, but its not attached to wires or anything, very easy.

So I hooked up the wheel to my PC. I played Live for Speed and iRacing. I used the V8 Holden Supercar and the Williams F1 and for Live for speed I used the basic RWD car and the FZ. I think Fanatec played those games better. With the T500RS the lack of deadzone causes severe oscillation when you let go of the wheel with normal FFB set. With a high FFB set it's extremely unrealistic. The tightness and feel are good but when going straight or passing center is a problem.

When I went back to GT5 I immediately started to use the F2007 and F10. Wow the feel is amazing. I have to say I think the wheel is horrible to use on PC. On PS3's GT5 it's very very realistic. I honestly believe it's more realistic than the PC. The T500RS setup with GT5 than iRacing is with anything else. Unless iRacing and Thrustmaster can work together to make an FFB profile the T500RS and GT5 reign supreme of the driving simulation world.

Right. So how much better is GT5, 10x or 50x?

lol there's absolutely nothing wrong with the ffb if you use iracings recommended settings...

the only thing that you should adjust after that is ffb strength in game.

honestly, stop making these "reviews". good for our entertainment though.

I confirm this! Just use iRacing recommended settings & adjust FFB strength in game. After this FFB is fantastical and ultra realist (without any oscillation) 👍
Same on Live For Speed.

Hey Guys

Does anyone know if you can remove the back, upright position part of the frame if you've got the pedals in F1 style.

Its not really a necessity, I think it would just look cleaner without it on my gameracer seat.

The paddles and mounting ring come off as a single assembly, so reattaching them to the back of the wheel is a relatively simply task. figuring out how to route the 2 paddle micro switch plugs and wires is the challenge.

The fact the paddle unit is so easily removed and unplugged, I feel should lead to many after market mods for the wheel.
