Yep, before I got my wheel stand I used to clamp it to my desk. It took up nearly the whole space. My wife normally doesnt take an interest into my 'toys' but the t500rs is hard to ignore. Other day she tried to use the t500rs to drive the riley daytona prototype from a mod in rFactor and the forces from the wheel really caught her by surprise 👍

Picked up the PS3 version of Dirt 3 today and tried it out with the Thrustmaster T500 RS. All I can say is Holy Crap what an amazing experience. The video doesn't do the combination justice as it can't really convey the feeling of the force feedback and all the nuances in the varying road surfaces.

I do have to say though there are a couple of minor bugs that hopefully Codemasters will patch in the near future.

one thing is the wheel will jerk to the left during the results screen when it's showing you the rewards. for each reward notification the wheel will jerk to the left about three times total.

another thing is during races, if you try to use flashbacks, the L1 and R1 buttons do not work so basically if you are using this wheel, then no flashbacks lol. but you shouldn't anyways since that's pretty weak.

Other than those two, one minor thing when you are setting up the wheel is just go to advanced wheel settings and change the scaling/ wheel acceleration to zero. I also turned up the force feedback strength to max and set the wheel resistance to max. default is at 50.

Overdoser that's a nice film with the t500rs + dirt 3. You should it embed as a movie: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=109624

Man the forces in Dirt 3 really gave me a workout. My arms still a bit sore from fighting to keep my car on the road. It seems like this game was really tuned well for this wheel 👍

Very refreshing to see all the ingame settings. They gave us a lot more ingame options than GT5 did

edit - I made a dedicated thread to T500rs & dirt 3. Hope it was ok to reference that video you made Overdoser

Nice Video !!!
(Tip, put small cutting of sticky velcro behind your paddles / reduces the loud click)

Yeah been enjoying this since Saturday and have reported some of the issues to Codies on their official forums. Please register their and confirm your having the same.

As for REWIND, it does work but TURN THE WHEEL when paused. :)

I too found after a while reducing the "WEIGHT" to about 50/60 helped but use MAX on the other settings for VIBRATIONS and FFB.
BRILL GAME and likely to be a REFERENCE GAME for comparing different wheels FFB quality.

I posted my first impression on the Dirt 3 forum. Basically, found a bug where T500RS wheel would automatically turned all the way to the left when a race is finished and back to the menu page to update player's reputation.

Initially, I have all the wheel feedback bumped up to the max...but after few races, it was too much. Leaving them at around 70 to 80% seems to be a nice setup for me.

Not very impressed with the graphics and color of Dirt 3. It has a 'greenish' tint to it...I feel like I was watching a 70s or 80s movie where color is kind of 'lo-fi' if you know what I mean.

Hey Thanks Mr. Latte for the tips on the shifter clicking and rewind!!!! i always wanted to know how to fix those annoying sounds.

Your welcome mate:
Seen the new thread but as mentioned their the "wheel turning" issue is not PS3 or T500RS but happening on other platforms and different wheels as well.

One more thing I noticed about T500RS with Dirt 3 is that when the game started, the wheel would do the usual calibration turn. But when the calibration is finished, the wheel doesn't stop with the wheel pointed to the center. It's pointed to the left...something like 10 o'clock. Also, when you press the start button to pause the game, the wheel doesn't move back to it's center position too. Anyone else noticed the same thing?

Yes this happens with mine too.

And this also . At first i thought it maybe a loss of firmware as i was still running V35 , But after updating to V37 it still occurred which led me to think it may be a common fault.

$400?!?!?! That is a steal! Never seen it that low... Check out future shop, it's available there :)

I read somewhere on some forum (I read tons of them so I forgot), that the wheel can be got for under 500.

Futureshop sells it for 599 but i really don't want to pay that price. I just found it for $499 actually on PC-Canada with $12 dollars shipping.

I really wish the pedals weren't included though. I'd just like the wheel.

Only a matter of time before the pedals become valuable.

a) 3rd party load cell mods (hopefully someone will do it). When that occurs, I would like a 2nd set of normal pedals to get me by while waiting on the main set to get load cells.

b) After warranty expires, if the pedals somehow break then we could buy a replacement

c) If they get that mod working where we can use the pedals standalone

Sounds like you already have a nice set of load cell pedals so I'm sure u know all of this. Just notes for others. Your post got me thinking bout that

Seems like for a guy like me though using a pair of CSPs / CSTs would be a hassle. Cause for PS3 I have to use my t500rs pedals. On the PC I would like to use the load cells. Would not be ideal for me switching out pedals on my wheel stand pro over & over but maybe its not bad as I am imagining

I'm thinking about getting a wheel for GT5 and I'm thinking about getting the GT wheel made for the game, I want a good cheap wheel that won't make noises at me

Then you're in the wrong thread, my friend. ;)

I tell you this, it is a great wheel but it ain't cheap ROFL! :D

@Franjo: $499 + $12 + ($26 - $77 depending on your location). Just hope that your location has the lower additional fee :)

Yea I have. One for ps2 that I don't even know if I have it anymore :P it looked like the modern ones now too so it wasn't like tiny back and forth plastic wheels, and from before when I was thinking about a quieter wheel I was thinking about the g25 how much is the g25 because the g27 makes noise right?

It was the G25 which make noise (gear noise)

the cons:
G25 : you can hear and feel the gearing inside the wheel as it rotates
G27 : you lost the sequential ability
T500 RS : fan noise issue.

Now if you want to know more about T500 RS, let's discuss it here, or if you want to discuss Logitech G series, there's plenty of thread around
You want some comparison, check here.

Well since we're in the T500 thread, might as well ask here. What would be a nice stable cockpit for the T500? Hopefully compact too. Something that can be shipped to the US with a relatively ok price, around the $500 range. All the European cockpits are great but with the shipping included prices are just insanely expensive! Obutto or playseat maybe? Or is that it? Thanks! :)

edit: something that can handle tactile as well :)
